Nowhere near as good as it does today, fixed odds & the internet have revolutionised gambling for sure. I opened my first Aussie account about 15yrs ago with International All Sports (Mark Read) & used dial up all Saturday, no one could ever get through to us at home as I lived on the net in the weekends. Unlike Thomas, I have listened and learn't from some very smart people about approaching things differently, no form punting has become the norm for me in the last 10 yrs and today I cannot be bothered even attempting to look at form and decide who is the best chance. My entire focus now is on finding/working out the best possible price, I can find the best horse to back in a given race in a min or 2 then spend 20 mins working on the best price I can obtain. Learning from mistakes and self analysing is a life long task and applies to punting as much as anything else.

Of course, but the horse ranks are very thin jumping wise down there now and could be very risky financially.

Come on Hesi, think a little here. Fixed odds WILL ALWAYS come out ahead of the tote in actual betting on multis. The comparisons you ran were theoretical mate, if you actually took the bet it would have influenced the price downward on the tote. This sort of statement reminds me of people who test on paper systems and then when they actually start to bet them fail to achieve the results of the past. Paper testing is done often with backfitting to achieve results & the profits are calculated on the final declared price. Now when you start betting live you are exposed to timing that doesn't exist when you paper test, ie: you could take a price about a runner who then drifts out, it can involve one or 2 longer priced winners who if taken out of the paper testing could well produce a loss over time instead of showing a decent profit. Can involve taking short priced favs, always risky as the fav in many races is not determined right till the jump and paper testing of shorties always shows way poorer results when actually bet. The only way to test anything punting wise is with real investments, can be very small but you then can eliminate many of the failures I describe above.

During the month of July there is a grand opportunity to do something special. We should have an International jumps series that starts on a Saturday & runs through till the following Sat, spread right around the country. Invite jumps riders from the UK & Aus, min stake of $50k for maidens & $100k for Open races, Hurdles and Steeples & include a 2 mile flat race at each venue. Would revive winter racing & give us a clear point of difference.

Newie, I have stacks of losing days, many of them complete wipeouts. I expect them and what’s more No one could tell whether I have had a winning or losing day as nothing about me changes. My long term s/r 12.7% ave divi $10.39 and POT 31.5%. max run of outs is 46 I do not do traditional form, far far to many punters focus on a horses last start, I don’t care what it’s done at it’s last start as I don’t look at it other than for what influence it will have on pricing. The best advice I can give and it’s the question I ask myself every time. Is there something in the horses past that suggests it can do what I am expecting it to do today. My last big winner was Itsagem on Thurs at Wang at $51, it had 4 0’s in its recent form.

its not a case of going off the rails TC, the unrealistic expectations of punters never fazes me, hero or zero is always the case. Would be far different if I charged for the advice. I dont know how a guy like Des has the front to offer tips knowing full well that anyone following them has lost thier shirt.

Wel I am so nervous now I am off to bed, she seems to have our house bugged or a camera as she has s sense of everything that goes on. shitting myself about getting a breakfast at cafe along the road in the morning.

PS: Shes just asked me if I have eaten any of the chocolates she left behind, I have eaten the farking lot, tomorrow I have to hide the evidence and buy a next box. Boy has this world changed for the bloke.

& yes Wally I have had more than enough Chards, been up since 3:55am, pumping tyres up and filling the Mrs car with petrol for a trip away. Growled her about hitting a farking pothole or kerb and farking the alignment so the thing pulls to the right. but thats like telling Thomas his ideas are in dreamland, falls on deaf ears. Shes just text me to ask how the punt went as shes busy eating lavish meal and watching the kids play sport, in my next life I am coming back as a either a Cat or a Woman.
-
Wally the point is we are looking for long priced winners, which are a dime a dozen mate, at $10 do you understand its less than a 10% chance?. Any day you break even is a bloody miracle when searching for long winners, look at those cock smokers on the first call mate, those clowns cant even get a $2 shot home. How anyone take those idiots seriously is beyond me. 3 of the best punters going around are on this site and thats Mardigras, Curious & myself, you are getting fabulous ideas etc free of charge, you have a choice to listen to complete f--ksticks like Thomas or some guys who know what they are talking about.
-
Yes very much agree Mardigras, gets tiring listening to idiots like Thomas

Shit me Wally, 2 winners. How many do you want, I wont bother putting up free tips again, you can contact Des or Neil and pay shitloads for f--king crap $3 winners from Neil or ring for no hoppers from Des. Neil has no idea how to pick a winner even from his very good ratings, Neil lives a deluded world still picking off form and his results are so poor its not funny & Des is a $3 winner punter from a long way back, Good Luck Wally you will need it paying for these shit tips. if you actually looked at these 2 guys long term results you would be in the poor house, Neil is a great guy, but a farking hopeless tipster, he wastes far far too much time tipping under $2 shots. Guaranteed he had that Rodrico as a big bet today. that will tell a story.

Wally, send me a PM for my bank account details mate.

Interesting from today after looking at stripes report. 1) There was a very obvious bleeder in the first that gets no mention. WTF. Unless my eyes are liars his mouth and nose were full of blood. I will not name the horse but ffs it makes a mockery of NZ Racing. 2) Arite Guru how the fark did that get into a open race when a first start maiden. It's an average horse at best and cost another runner a chance.

Shit day for me also. It happens, move on to the next day
