Beau, you are not somehow suggesting that Southern tracks are better surely?. Riccarton for starters is a dreadful wet dive for 9 months of the year. Wingatui the same. The only decent surface is at Timaru and it has a leader bias to rival Ruakaka.

Geez you are a passionate fella. I can walk between the 2, its all of 500 mtrs at most. Waterworld has countless people pooping in it on a frequent basis, Te Rapa has countless people doing the same. Look it wont matter very soon anyway, racing is so shagged in this country, it has a far shorter lifespan than the pools. 10 yrs tops and racing is finished, so I will be able to spend far more time down at the pools.

I spend my life down at Waterworld and its more of a shit hole than Te Rapa, besides water world is a community owned site, Te Rapa is private enterprise who only has itself to blame.

Its the first rain related abandonment at Te Rapa I can remember in a very long time, so not sure where you are coming from there.

Come on man, I thought you were intelligent. I said the old Te Rapa, which would have been a heavy 11 from rain that happened 2 weeks ago. Todays rain would have finished it off before it even started. its been solid heavy rain since 9am and has not stopped, in fact its got a lot heavier in the last hour. I am sitting at home with lights on as its so dark, as I said in a previous post, no other venue in NZ would have gone ahead with the current weather either. Brady said with the rail out 12 mtrs today they are on newer ground and the sand hasn't worked into the surface enough yet in that part of the track. The rail is out so far due to Te Rapa racing again next Sat.

With the amount of rain about, no other meeting in NZ would have even got off the ground, so to blame the sand of the track is a bit much. The fact the track was sanded was the very reason the meeting could even be considered today. Te Rapa of old would have been a quagmire.

I was there and after the first I was surprised they continued on. I am guessing because it was Amatuers they continued with the jumps. Very heavy rain and the horses and riders were covered in muck when they came back in.
