The link worked just fine when I made the initial post. GRNZ have taken it down. Not surprising, they don't like to be told when they screw up. In the last week alone, they've defined "Animal Welfare Avoidance" and they did so Independantly.

GRNZ to Seek Government Funding to Upgrade Unsafe Tracks.
Yankiwi replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Dog Chat
Here's some non fake-news from today at P/N. Good on you Mike Austin for making the tough call and to do the right thing for the dogs welfare. The RIB needs more staff like yourself that are not afraid to take charge. The RIB should also be looking within itself to move out the pussycats they acquired during the transformation from the RIU. https://www.grnz.co.nz/catch-the-action/14628/result-detail.aspx Hopefully there won't be any afterhours backhanded action like happened last week from GRNZ headquarters & the GRNZ board. Now what was being said on BOAY about PNGRC being the best run club? -
You'd think that they would able to spell "Independent" properly in such important documentation. Hopefully the true professionals can read typo... "Independant" Good going Dore'k https://www.grnz.co.nz/News/2700/Greyhound-Racing-Independant-Review-

There should be a consequence for the Homebush kennel for there actions. The RIB(RIU) & race day vet did their job on Thursday by scratching all their dogs & sending them home. What happened next is where the biggest problem is... GRNZ in their infinite wisdom held emergency meeting this, then hacked & slashed that, to open up the opportunity for the Homebush kennel to put dogs on the track the very next day. Beyond that, earlier in the play, they came out with this little gem. https://www.grnz.co.nz/News/2715/Containment-of-VomitingDiarrhoea-Virus "Dogs that are symptom-free will be allowed to race." Since when does headquarters or the board decide which dogs are fit to race & which ones are not? That's the responsibility of the Vet. A blurb on the GRNZ website does not over-ride a Vet's responsibility to determine which dog is fit to race & which one isn't. GRNZ has thrown every fiber of welfare for the dogs out the window in the last few days with their actions. They deal out $hit like this & then hang around the smoko room wondering why they're under Ministerial scrutiny. Speaking of that, isn't there report due today? You'd think that's where their attention would have been focusing.

JMac had 59 starters or 70% today at Forbury. All other trainers combined had 26 starters or 30%. Jmac had 6 winners today of the 11 races or a 55% strike rate. Of those 6 winners, 3 of them were in races he had 7 of the 8 entrants. With statistics such as those, it tells me at least one of the three things below are true ~ JMac isn't a very good trainer. JMac has poor quality dogs. JMac's racing dogs were not even close to being at 100% fitness today. Also those statistics suggest that in GRNZ's minds ~ JMac's wants as a trainer are more important than the rights of the other trainers. JMac's number of dogs is more important than the quality of them. The numbers of starters today is more important than the welfare needs of sick or recovering dogs.

GRNZ to Seek Government Funding to Upgrade Unsafe Tracks.

I should have realized it was fake-news. Glenda never fronts. Mybad for believing she actually might have. -
This would make a good start to sorting out GRNZ. With this change in place 2 or 3 of us could start getting our hands dirty & sort some $hit out.

I'd suggest the competing trainers/owners of the Homebush kennel would have a compelling case if they choose to file objections to the results of all Dunedin races today. The same kennels dogs were all scratched on the previous day due to a virus circulating their kennel. The virus has a 18 day running period. GRNZ have already provided ALL the evidence to support the claim. https://www.grnz.co.nz/News/2712/Advisory-on-Canine-Enteric-Corona-Virus

It'll be interesting what happens at kenneling time this morning. Will the race-day Vet make the proper call & scratch them all again as they rightfully should, or will Mr. Dore again try to over-ride the decision of a professional.
-
I reckon MPI should investigate this. Enter Chloe.....
-
Seems to me GRNZ thought they could over-rule a race day Vet's advice/power. Who better knows how a virus in dogs work, GRNZ or a Vet? Just another glaring example of "Rules by Convince". If the rule isn't convenient, just ignore it.

GRNZ to Seek Government Funding to Upgrade Unsafe Tracks.

Well then Glenda, as GRNZ's Chief Executive, isn't it your responsibility to step up & mothball tracks that are not safe until the point they are made to be safe to race on? The ONE thing that she's done since gaining her 3 day a week high paid position & she came out with this. OMFG... Thanks for chiming in Glenda, you too can see how safe the current Greyhound tracks will be when there are no longer dogs running around them. I've always known that Hoof & Mouth disease was a serious problem with cattle. Seems this head cow is now making it transfer to Greyhounds & has renamed it "Hoof In Mouth" disease. Good-bye Greyhound industry... -
The Steward has the option to scratch any dog from a race. They also have the right to scratch all the dogs from a kennel if the possibility of the outbreak of an illness. I can understand letting the rest of the dogs being allowed a start on the first night, when only one dog was presented sick. I don't understand why a second & a third day would be given a benefit of doubt. That to me is just stupidity & has the SI in the mess it is. If a Steward isn't up to making what might be a tough decision then they shouldn't be in that role in the first place. A lack of any action by a Steward suggests bias, favoritism and/or even corruption. Now I can better understand the near immediate ban GRNZ put in place for Greyhounds traveling between the islands. Without the ban, the concerned kennel would have probably simply transferred some of its southern dogs to their remote kennel in the CD to get starts & made things far worse than they already have. I agree with Aquaman, LP's should become better organized. There is immense power in numbers. GRV trainers have begun coming together & their voices are being heard loud & clear. https://www.racenet.com.au/news/owners-trainers-set-to-deliver-stern-message-to-grv-with-strike-action-20210630

Personally, I reckon it's more dangerous to my long term health driving somewhere to get the vaccine than it would be to contract Covid. I will not even consider rolling up my sleeve until the time I believe I am being told the truths about the virus and the prescribed vaccine for the virus. I'm not going to be tricked into being a Guinee Pig for Cindy or any of her chosen drug companies. Since China is so tight lipped & not open to inquiry of the Wuhan lab, to me that screams there is something for them to try to hide. It's been made obvious that China has the WHO in their back pocket as well. Remember when Covid wasn't airborne & we only needed to wash our hands & not touch our face? It's too bad Trump isn't around anymore. I never did find out the safest way to get the bleach into my body. As a side note, I'm still waiting for my refund from the Cindy & Co for the 7 weeks of level 3 & 4 lock-down they imposed on me, which I couldn't drive my car anywhere, yet had pre-paid my rego & warrant in order to do so...

Should inject a bit more into the Harness pools next few weeks hopefully
Yankiwi replied to Nowornever's topic in Dog Chat
The Feds (since that's the paragraph you've chosen to quote me on) don't promote Greyhound racing, improve wagering revenue, increasing stakes or fix tracks. So no, I'd prefer if they stuck to enforcing the GRNZ rules, the job they are tasked with doing. Since they now obviously have some down time, they should get on with the sorts of tasks that they have claimed previously they don't have the time or resource to do. -

No racing in the south island, therefore headquarters & feds have only 1/2 the work to do. Surely with all the extra time on their hands headquarters will have ample opportunity to sort the mess they call the Amazing Chase for next year. Maybe they could actually take the time to define a few things in the GRNZ rules as well. I'd suggest they start with the word "race", especially at what point a "race" is completed. As for the feds, maybe they should use the extra time and visit every trainers property to take swabs from the lure arm in the bull rings. I'm picking they might be quite surprised (not anyone with half a brain however) on what type of biological matter they find there. Poodle, hare, possum & guinee pig would be the first cross checks I'd be doing from evidence I've seen & heard about on BOAY alone. -

I hope all of the recent "ute tax" protestors on their tractors, with their working dogs running around them, had read the GRNZ mandate & kept themselves on their home islands. I'd hate to find out one or more of the southerners had decided to stage their protest in Foxton or Palmerston North. -
Was the PNGRC being the best run club on its big day in 2017 while under Paul's watch? http://www.jca.org.nz/non-race-day-hearings/non-raceday-inquiry-riu-v-k-gommans-a-jenkins-and-d-poutama-written-reserved-decision-dated-7-july-2017-chair-mr-p-williams

Paul put effort into greyhound racing that Paul could personally best benefit from. Why was the 700m+ distance at PN discontinued? How did that change benefit the code? Why was the 375m races changed to 410m? It's not a coincidence that GRNZ "distance" races were increased from a minimum of 400m to 450m shortly after word started circulating that the PNGRC was changing their "sprint" distance. I guess the underlying reason for that "improvement" backfired.

This fiasco has been decided. Seems to me that the GRNZ's racing manager is simply out of his depth & running the operation as a lone cowboy instead of including the Oversite Committee in the critical decision making. https://racingintegrityboard.org.nz/decisions/grnz-request-for-review-reserved-decision-dated-13-july-2021-phil-green-and-geoff-farrell/ Well done to team Green & team Farrell. Although not the result many were hoping for, these warning shots across the desks at headquarters will have been clearly heard.

Exactly. By acquiring a GRNZ training license, you agree to adhere to the rules as they are written. Do I believe Angela was behind this in any way, no. Do I believe the same result would have happened if Angela was the person to travel south with the dogs, probably not. But as being the trainer of record, it was her choice on who traveled with the dogs on the day. It is her choice who is involved in the training of the dogs in her kennel. Angela has made the kennels bed by putting it solely under her name, so to say, so now Angela is the one lying in it.

At the real end of the day, Turnwald agreed to be bound by the GRNZ rules by being an LP. With Zipping Sarah, she broke those rules by presenting the dog with Meth in its system. Now after the appeal, she has been penalized in a similar fashion to recent previous Meth cases from within the code.
