Less horse numbers - less supply more demand - is it driving export prices up
Jones replied to Jones's topic in Trotting Chat
Thanks guys for your input. Does anyone know what say the price is for a say 3 or 4 win NZ horse in form, sales to Oz for these days? And then compare that to say 5 years ago or even 3 years ago? Just curious. Or even a horse that wins first up and is well breed. Id love to know the sale prices for ALL exports. Be GREAT if HNRZ could make it a rule to make public. -
Hi Paleface, Iv thinking now you not Hunts. So keep posting and don't mind me. That was Chief. He started it. Anyway moving on.

Nice to see you post Gospel. You, me Gamms & Taupiri our new lil clan hehe. Yes Gamms wasn't thinking of high priced yearling sales when posted thread. More like if one gets a cheaper horse from Gavel or say weanling sales say between 5k-10k and then if its ok and sells for anywhere between 50-500k. Not losing anyway. Think when Bettors stock all sold for high price at yearling sales, again supply-demand. As there were so few. But of course he is a stallion in demand. Agree Gospel when will supply and demand meet. Good question. Just thought for thought. Welcome to ideas and thoughts BOAY posters 😄 -
Oh I thought I had it with Credit Master, but no, Kings Landing got up & took it with a nice win for the NORTH tehe that counts. 1 - 0 North stride out to lead after race 1 or 3 Gems. Was thinking too without cheating, Looee can race for North tonight, as he actually started his career in North 😄
-
Was thinking, with each season getting lower & lower numbers breeding wise. Will this ultimately result in higher prices, as overseas demand one would think would stay the same. Aus and USA both have big populations. So demand stays the same, but with less NZ supply, is this driving up or going to drive up export prices? Therefore is this actually a positive for the industry? Owners make money in sales should they strike an above average horse. Less or no wastage in time as some call it. With more horses getting a home after racing or being sold on overseas. Less racing overall, but a more improved product as racing gets streamlined? Is the future? Don't hold the answer or answers was just thinking about supply & demand. Would be interesting to see all those exported to Aus and USA in the past 5 years. Sale price figures. If it is the same or if the average/median has gone up in the past year or 2.

Well Gamms this is the entertainment post of the week. What a crack up. Are you feeling ok? Just the other day suggested to you, how we should of asked Unhinged to be our Guest judge on drive of season. Who did you think I was talking about lol. Brods started a positive post about how good his social media channel is, (which btw I liked every post on there), & Galahs asked how to get to channel which you were part of the convo. Nek Minnit today, NOT SURE WHO UNHINGED IS.
-
Yes agree with you there Gamms that home track drivers would know track better to have that home track/crowd advantage, in saying that last comp was held at Add & North still won. (Then when you have Unhinged coming up to you & interviewing saying, after your fab win while recording on camera e.g. Hanara and then Delany “who are you, never heard of you?” Not the most fun reception I suspect for the youngsters. However this year, Unhinged is going to be right on his game. The odd other videos have seen of Unhinged YES I like. Fun, seems like a great dude & doing a lot for the game. Got it Taupiri thanks for update re Meredith & yes Gamms Delany works for B Purdon.

Where the slower ALLSTARS go to build Up some Speed
Jones replied to Gammalite's topic in Trotting Chat
Yes Chief, figured from you post that you must of seen the same IP address. So from that, thought about it & thought of all the similarities & other things to think it is same person. e.g. Hunts a regular poster goes without a trace & magically Paleface appears a new regular poster, Hunts/Pale both give Ranga a hard time, & both had a lil crack shot at Gamms, Pale seems to know quickly how to use site & knows posters history, both post prior yesterday mainly in 1 or 2 sentences, both use the bad post button, both share a seemingly dislike for All Stars & also both share a seemingly strong like for Jones family. Both PM in the same manner & both leave the conversation in same manner. You know Gamms the type of messages that you & Karrots used to get. BUT it could all be a coincidence. Oh the plot thickens. -
Oh love the competitive banter there Gamms. Now lesson 201. The North Team won the overall team comp with most points so currently hold the trophy. Yeah dats right. 3 of the same team are still competing in this years comp too. Whittaker, Harrison & Delany. So hardly a weak team. For the overall winner, it was a very close race went right down to the wire. T Hanara North was leading for some time, then it changed up right at end & came right down to last race. Points were all VERY close. Was an exciting comp to follow/watch. Drake, Gamms think works for Green/Lincoln F. You know 1 of the top stables in North. How did you miss him he got to a Group 1 drive Jewels Day on Sugar Apple. So that was another positive that he got a drive Jewels day. In hindsight perhaps he should of taken a trail behind Ultimate Chevron. S.A looked like he over-raced a bit infront. Thing is tho can't trust that Southern drivers won't just hand up to Cullen/All Stars team. Just a shame S Apple didn't get trailers to passing lane. But there was no Cullen tri in that race. No Cullen musical chairs by him holding the lead. Meredith I think does some driving for Mangos, & seems like a quick learner. Bublitz think maybe his family are hobby owners or trainers. Another potential quick learner. Im fine with my North Team thank you very much. Roll on comp day 😉😃

Lets see. Who am I going to cheerlead for. Hmm, let me take 1 sec to think about it. Decided, get pom poms out for the North Team. Who be rooting for the South? Davis that be you 😄😉

Hunts it is you, it is you, why you sneaky little fart (endearing term). I wondered why Paleface knew a lot about posters history e.g. JJ doesn't have PM. But figured that Paleface may just have been silently following site, so said nothing. You def tricked me with your Aussie this & Aussie wa-wa annoying stuff, had me thinking you were an Aussie. But now I think of something else and it is YOU. Here I was sometimes missing your posts & Ranga's posts & you were here all along. Sneaky, sneaky. -
JCA Hearing - Allford. Substance caught injecting was formalin.

A good question also was why no positive article? from the Journo who loves to write x10 negative articles on the same person/ subject Why nothing on how NO driver was suspended or fined or warned for excess whip use? After all he did do an article on whip use written in a more negative angle re D Butcher. Why nothing positive about the racing itself how it was great to see other runners not just the usual hot pot stars get up? How all races ran on time and people watched on in excitement as each race was run in almost a thrilling display of race tactics and movements non-stop start to finish? Yet not a bow peep. No surprises here for me. -
Looking at numbers of Southern noms for this Gems meeting shows that full fields can be had at Alex, when you get Southern horses up. Taking a look back & the 20k minimum stake did nothing much to boost numbers, however a $40k stake with the prestige of listed race & aimed at not the top elite who are made up of usually the same-same. BUT with condition, targeting slightly different stables and horses. Perhaps Alex could look at doing something like this a couple of times a year. And/or having a close meeting so while not like Mana day 1 & day 2. But close enough so that those coming across the cook straight have a good stake to go for them a few days later can compete again for the usual Alex stake. Food for thought.

Spitty has been retired. Hope he has a nice after racing life as a hack. Great he retired with a couple of wins alongside his name.
-
Will go for Credit M in the Gems trot, had a nice win last start. So North then in mares Gem a South win, not sure who tho. So heading into the final Gem being 1 a piece North/South. Then final race a Lou quinella hehehe. Lead for Looee, then Fabrizio to come around & take lead as long as he is a good boy, (last Alex campaign he was a naughty boy). R7 looks like an interesting race also with the handicaps 2200.
-
Yip & 11 races at Alex P by the looks, so that is great for them. Nice to see. And with some from South up or still up makes it more interesting. Oh with it being pref draw, looks like Looee is going to get a handy draw of 2. And has gate speed too. How will those higher rated horses e.g. P Playboy and Dance time etc be driven … ? Makes it for a potential entertaining race 😄 Will class prevail over the top of them, or will it open it up to a lower rated horse to claim victory?
-
Opps mean 4 y-o + & its pref draw so that will make it interesting. Not sure it should be pref draw … but anyways it is. And its over 2200 not 2700. Most of the mares in mares race nom are South horses 8 of 13 just of note. Still looking forward to these 3 races.
-
Like this concept, a listed race with conditions. Noms for 4 y-o boys looks interesting. Pembroke P, Fabrizio, Warloch, Steel the Show, Dance Time, Double Rocket And the 4 y-o trot Credit Master and Mignight Dash Look forward to seeing the draws & watching these 3 races.
-
After missing last year due to Covid, great to see its back. Who will take the North verse South trophy? Both teams have great captains. And they look like a great bunch of potential role models in years to come. Who will take the Junior Driver Champ Trophy? Exciting for them all, to those that have qualified. Good luck all.
-
Miss Jones, thats a new one. Shame you didn’t put in your top 3 drive vote points. Well done again to S Wigg and nice write up there Gammas. Is drive of season something that is recognised? Like is it a thing a HRNZ award? It actually could be if not. Open to all.
-
S Wigg, is the winner of our BOAY Drive of season 20/21 with her outstanding drive in the last race of the Amateur Champs. Good luck to her if she makes it to the World Amateur Champs to represent NZ.

Where the slower ALLSTARS go to build Up some Speed
Jones replied to Gammalite's topic in Trotting Chat
Iv never commented on the AS saga and so forth as you mention til now, here are my thoughts I tried to rake my head around it. Once the blood spinning rule was changed along with the injection timeframe that to me was a noticeable difference in performance & driving tactics. Referring to as think its Newmarket and Galah stating 3 wide 4 wide and then still win over distance. Because what I also observed with that was the number of the horses that broke down. Remember once compiling a list & it was long. I noted too that other stables were not getting the same amount of break downs at top level, in-fact hardly any. Thing was that it was all legal. So they were playing by the rules. Controversial yes, but by the rule of law yes also. I decided to myself that these horses were being pushed beyond their ability & therefore breaking down. Must note with all that surveillance they were under re Inca & nothing untoward re actual racing, come up. So to me that tells a story too. So from that I can’t see how they are doing anything untoward or against the rules. The Aladdin decline in form was a stand out to me. The only one recently after the rule change. Of course there could of been a number of reasons for that. Hence I’m not saying they were or are cheating. (I have also noted not many if any breakdowns now after law change). -

Read something other day about Spankem, how he missed work or missed a run or something, so they were just going to throw him in (as not ideal) as needed run. And there were reasons around it. 1 that did raise interest for me, was the sudden state of Aladdin, reminded me since myself & Taupiri brought him up today. When he left All Stars stable to me observing it was a noticeable sudden decline. Not accusing anyone of cheating or anything. Know sometimes on here things can be mis-interpreted. Just stating an observation. As Taupiri has pointed out he did go on to Oz to win a Derby, maybe in weaker company … -
Shame, do understand tho. You can get disheartened when you get attacked. And when things are negative a lot. In saying that too, its funny how won’t interact much, or contribute, yet they read & sometimes get their stories from what has been talked about from here. This site does help with build up of hype around some events too. But as said, back to the top sentence do understand. Some of us including myself, can go a little over-board or be super reactive. Which I guess results in a loss of credibility built up. Thanks Gamms great idea, we prob should have asked Unhinged, he likely would of responded. Never mind. 3 Wigg 2 Butcher 1 Hope = 1 Williamson =
