  1. Well its just 2 months out from the end of the season, so nominations for the BOAY drive of the season. I will nom Z Butcher for his drive on Fri nite at Alex on Art Nouveau R5. Started 2nd row. Was awake to take the run thru. Ended up parked but eased back to find cover, raced in 1/1 til just prior a lap out, when a horse from back started to make a mid-race move, he popped out of 1/1 to parked, before again shortly landing the 1/1 again. Then at 400 dropped down to trail. Then when leader not getting to passing lane quick enough, pulled out of trail around parked horse in straight and on past them to take victory! Brilliance AT ITS BEST Taupiri also highlighted S Wigg drive on the last Amateur Champs race, so will put her name down for a nom in for that race too. Noms BOAY Drive of the season 2021 Z Butcher S Wigg Any other noms out there? PS an update as said Id give 1, No side effects jab 1 as earlier mentioned just sore arm. Side effects jab 2. So a tip for those that want to get jabs, DO NOT have an important event a day after the jab, because IF you do get side effects you will be bed/couch ridden & won't make event. Head ache, tummy ache, nausea, achy body, heart palpations, sharp random body pain, sore arm, all at once. Happens at nite time, awaking to this. But its short lived as only lasts 1 nite & 1 day. So just push thru it.
  2. Just watched a good interview with all 3 Butcher lads about Jewels. Z Butcher says he thinks R9 will be the race of day. D Butcher says Kango will not be unlucky & will be giving it best shot. Z Butcher adds, Bad to the Bone has proved he can sit parked & stick with them. With those to beat drawn outside him or 2nd line, wants to get handy. (Sounds like he is going to move to parked spot & unlikely to hand once there). And with not being unlucky, sounds like Kango won’t hand up if he holds front. So those to beat will have to come 3 wide at a minimum. If that happens that would put Pembroke Playboy 3 back rail. Being able to utilise those Camb corners, covering no extra ground & hoping for a gap. Then we have Green saying in a Lincoln article that Tommy Lincoln has enough speed to cross New York Minute & Kango. That he’s probably their stables best chance on day. Mckendry states, he is hoping they go hard upfront so Copy That can come over the top of them. Agree with Z Butcher, (for me) this will be the race of the day. Save the best for last.
  3. Please put your selections here, if you have paid the $10 under Karrots Jewels comp in subscriptions. Points will be given 3 for win, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd. Select your top pick for races 1 - 7 only. Please also put what bet on Race 9 if you win comp. ALSO please note put in a 2nd elect as below (brackets). This is incase your 1st horse is scratched. Also if there is a draw. It will count back to the most winners from your 1st elects. If it is still a draw it will then move to your 2nd elect horses, same rules apply 3 points win, 2 points 2nd, 1 point 3rd. If still a draw then, again it would go to the most winners 2nd elect horses. Once the winner has been identified Chief will put your selected bet on. A gap between race 7 & 9 gives him time to do this. If your bet comes in, Chief will organise to transfer all the $ winnings to you. Winner takes ALL. If your R9 bet does not come in, you will unfortunately not receive anything. Please note TUESDAY 10pm is LAST day to PAY to play. Everyone that has paid by 10pm Tuesday has until Saturday 10pm to put down their selections on this thread. If you have donated $10 & do not want to participate in selections that is fine. Chief will announce how much we are playing for after the entries payment has closed, but prior Jewels Day. On the day, Chief or Gamms will have to be points scorer and ideally update after each race, as I will be at races, so will not be able to. Thanks. Have a go and good luck. * Karrots selections R1. 4. Hehe feel completely opposite Brods, want to hit fast forward button, so can literally get to day quicker. And lil interest in races between then and now. Yes hope it doesn’t rain. Oh you aren’t participating in hunt for the Golden Horse shoe to win tickets to the races. Thought you might be all over it hehe. Good Place money up for grabs. Alta Wiseguy 5.50 paying more than Sugar Apple. In a drivers interview today, B Butcher said they buzzed him off the gate to see if he could finish off the race & he did nicely, so now they have options. No driver down yet for BD Joe or Alta Wiseguy … Yes Galahs that could happen, be interesting to see exactly what happens. Looking forward to seeing how much the final turnover is … Saw they sponsored an article in a magazine with an itinerary planned long weekend in Cambridge which includes the Jewels on Sunday. Trying to encourage people to go & spend Queens Weekend in Cambridge. (Good idea). Pulling out all the stops so it will be interesting to see turnover.
  5. The plot thickens, just to add in more excitement to the 3 y-o boys. Telfer trained Alta Wiseguy wins today highest rating workout with Workout with the Stars in a MR1.53.8 beating Copy That and co. Sugar Apple got 3rd in 2 y-o heat. No videos up yet. But based off that would it be Alta Wiseguy, who leads & BD Joe trails & Krug 3 back ... Roll on next Sunday.
  6. Fixed opening odds out now $5 place Davis for Sugar Apple, No 1st 4 out yet. 1. Amazing Dream 1.85 2. Need you Know 2.30 1= Highgrove & Mystic Max equal fav 2.50 1. Bettor Twist 1.55 2. La Rosa 3.40 3. Off and Gone has already gone down from 8.50 - 7.50 1. Krug 1.90 2. BD Joe 4.80 1. Muscle Mountain 1.70 2. B4B 3.80 1. Copy That 3.40 2. South Coast Arden 3.50 3. Bad to the Bone 4.20
  7. Fabulous. Apologies. No have not. Only been following since 2018. But great to hear that you were not having a crack.
  8. You don’t really like Maori’s, most likely because you don’t really like the behaviour of males within that group. Again putting yourself down, as you are a male. On a positive note, am enjoying your race posts 😄, not these (Kiwi’s & Maori’s) racist posts.
  9. Paleface, you refer to males being Sheep Shaggers yes. Which you are a male. Why put yourself down, you are part of that group.
  10. It certainly has now after thinking The dream will just coast in 4 y-o mares, I give Need You know a win chance only IF she can get to the top at some stage in race then take a breather & then motor home last 400. Same as La Rosa in 3 y-os fillies. Yay doing the HAPPY dance for Sugar Apple. Potential top 4 chance, as long as they don’t give the rail line away to Cullen runners, as that risks their 3 runners playing musical chairs & then that number 1 draw could end up with Sugar 4 or 5 back rail. Of course they may not get an option if the 2 Lous drawn 1 & 2 can't hold them out. What will BD Joes tactics be ... Wonder if connections think they can hold Krug in straight ..., B Butcher is a great front running driver at Cambridge. Or if they get tactical & hand up mid race to someone they think they can run past up passing lane, planting Krug 3 back mid race ... The final on the card R9 well well well, who will be the victor of that ... We shall all see next Sunday how things eventuate. Roll on the Jewels.
  11. Fillies Gamms, 2 Sweet Lou fillies hehe. Yes great to dream. DREAM BIG. But you did not know that I caught up with a journo friend this week, that works for the Waikato Times. When what are you doing Queens Bday weekend came up, I said "going to the races". They responded "oh the Jewels". I said "YES"! "How do you know about the Jewels". They said that their "xyz always goes and loves it, great day out". I planned to suggest a positive article prior the Jewels, BUT as they already knew about the Jewels and didn't seem to take any hints, left it specifically saying about doing a positive article. (A positive article would garner interest and participation and onsite numbers, which would therefore YES result in a higher turnover). Not going to engage anymore with you while you are in this state Whippy of insulting multiple posters on here. Will await til you have calmed down.
  12. Ok no more Jewels talk until the draw is out tomorrow. Check this out, had to share just WOW excellent stuff Cambridge Raceway and Cambridge Jockey Club 👍 As per both Facebook pages. COLOURS PROMOTION At our racemeeting in Racecourse Road on the Polytrack on Wednesday, 2 June, the Cambridge Jockey Club, in conjunction with the Cambridge Raceway, we'll be staging a promotion whereby one runner in each race will wear the yellow Jewels Colours. After acceptances this Saturday, a horse will be drawn and selected, with the permission of the owners and trainer from each race, to wear the yellow Jewels Colours. All connections will receive two complimentary tickets to the Speight’s Summit Ultra Sports Bar for wearing the colours. If the chosen horse is in the first three, a bonus will be paid (to be split between the owner and trainer) as follows: 1st $4,000 2nd $2000 3rd $1,000 "Winning starts with beginning"
  13. Forgot to mention I will be rooting for him to do well free-lance. Good on him for taking the initiative 👍
  14. News from Boxseat is the man on fire, is leaving Cullens barn and going solo. Watch out B Orange tehe.
  15. Ok wonder what the average age is for owners thru-out NZ in total. If I had a random guess Id say 50. But could be way off. Just trying to figure out the demographic and where/what that points to in future. Have heard of this arrangement. So stake money is split 50/50 between trainer & owner, so yeah if horse not performing back it goes asap. Also heard of it, were they may take it on the basis to sell asap after a few starts if poss so 50/50 again or similar maybe not quite 50/50 & then if a sale takes place then trainer acting as the seller gets $ there too.
  16. Latest update, Iv got news, Davis and Brods, wee Sugar Apple is IN! My allocated BOAY 2 y-o horse is IN. Can you believe it! Was at the bottom of the 2 y-os, BUT who cares is in now. None of TOP 9 have not pulled out. They ALL still IN, its the others lower 10-12. HEHE. Wonder if they will start him ... Hope so. Why not. Take the starter $ & already in North AND Karrots will get some points on the board for our fun game comp. Jonesy can be on him too if he starts as Jonesy doesn't have any horses.
  17. Oh & Brods if he hasn't already can take part in our BOAY selections comp, comp closes next Sat nite. Get your $10 in under Karrots Jewels comp. Can win a bet can be a place bet whatever you chose, which Chief will put on your selected horse in race 8 or race 9 with the prize money. AND you will get BOAY JEWELS bragging rights. The prize money helps contribute to the overall Jewels turnover. Winner takes all. WHO will take out the crown for the JEWELS BOAY SELECTIONS comp?
  18. Yes saw that & thought, that its sad for him not attracting new owners as he is trying different things & is costing him. Another question for you Brods, Is the average age for members of Alex Park & is the average age of members at Addington in the 70’s? And if so in 20 years, should they be worried? Fact or fiction. I don’t actually know the answer to this one so perhaps we can open this up to the floor? Unhinged might know re Addington? Have yet to decide whom I will vote for next election, however they need to upt their game re campaign/marketing commercials. The last one was average I thought when saw it air. Infact it was so average I CANNOT recall what it was. Remember watching that rowing ad when it was in production & said this is FAB, BUT “what about the music, are you allowed to use this?” Reply “Yes, got the rights from a company in Australia”. Still got them in trouble tho didn’t it.
  19. So you come on here to troll and bully people. Hmm. Galahs mate not sure this is who you think it is.
  20. Have to agree with you here Brods, I don't have facts, so could be wrong but get the feeling it is in decline unfortunately, so enjoy the sport while we still have it. Enjoy the JEWELS, enjoy the racing we currently have, appreciate and enjoy it. Roll on Jewels 😄
  21. You have some homework to do then & once you have the correct answer hit us with whether or not it is fact or fiction 😄 Just present your viewpoint & back it up with facts or intelligent reason, oppose just simply down-voting or personal attacks or belittlement.
  22. Just wants to have a moan Gamms & down vote any positive ideas on ways to help the issue. Be like
  23. I recall reading the Jewels stakes would be dropped due to that whole industry drop in stakes, remember when that happened & there was concern they may not get off the ground. So obviously they compromised and dropped the stakes from $150k to $100k As for Ludwig here you are complaining about the Jewels stakes, putting forward zero ideas or ways to help get stake back up to $150k, just being negative. Yet interestingly enough you down-voted 2 of my earlier posts on another thread (one when I was giving ideas for promotion/marketing for it & another for an aim target goal turnover e.g. 5 mil or 5.5 million ish). Both these posts were over-all trying to help to get a high turnover for the day, ultimately in hope that it helps with getting stakes back up to $150k for it, as it once was pre-covid or so it isn’t costing the industry as much, so it can be more justified to have it. Total contradictions yet again by you Ludwig. This is an example when I said that Gamms & myself get tired of the negativity & it gets life sucking.
  24. But the positive about it being at Cambridge & being a dash for cash, is that some of the others have a chance to win or place. The favourites could get rolled, the 4 y-os boys for example, many of them have a chance at winning. It opens it up a bit oppose a big track like Addington which gets it every 2nd year anyway. Take Bettor Twist who has won most of the Group races for her age group. Some of the others will get their chance. Id like to see another horse take out the 4 y-o boys, as was rooting for Copy T to get his group 1 win, he’s got that now. So Id like to see someone else that hasn’t had a group 1 win get it and so on & so forth. A just for fun guessing game for you Brods 😀, is this fact or fiction … ? Average age of your fav party membership is in the 70’s & they are worried in 20 years they will lose 1/2 their members due to this … ?
  25. Nicely said. Oh my D, was just taking a lil peak & can't believe this BUT Karrots may just have a starter in 2 y-o Jewels with wee Sugar Apple now moved up to 13th so is 1st emergency! With a bunch of withdrawals, Ardens Horizon, Cantfindabettorman & Mercury Rising now make up the top 12. So will have to do the final list on Friday, when the DRAW IS OUT. Wonder how many peeps will be sitting on the website hitting the refresh button lol come Friday hehe. Was looking for Fabrizio too, to see if he might get a start but doesn't look likely, BUT you never know. That 4 y-o boys race looks set to be a cracker!
