  1. I witnessed firsthand the racism in New Zealand. Most of it is hidden, and in fact, I saw a well known trainer denigrate a hard working, honest Māori but not to his face. He spoke aloud amongst other condescending fools in the most horrible, disgusting manner. And those of you who deny racism in NZ are hypocrites. As for the McKee scenario, Mr Chris Waller and other behemoth stables across the ditch, wouldn’t be able to function without their Indian/Mauritian labor and their expert horsemanship. So grow up or get back under the rocks from where you came.
  2. Entain aren’t interested in grassroots racing, they are ignorant and don’t understand the significance of grassroots racing. Industry days, without them what would punters bet on midweek. Petone has always been a shit show, you would expect a global gambling behemoth to seek council from educated, informed, industry luminaries, oh that’s right, they did, and just look at what’s transpiring.
  3. I see the owner of the other site openly stating he was involved in the euthanasia of 600 horses in China and feels guilty.? I believe he spent time in Malaysia, surely he knew what ending the horses copped up there or is he that naive? Did he think China/Macau was different did he? Cough cough
  4. Whilst on the Te Akau thread….I thought I would add a few sobering comments to the hype… They are setting up shop in the debt ridden capital of Australia - possibly 5 years too late, but that’s another story for another day. It’s been well documented by industry participants the decidedly poor availability of suitable race meetings, especially for those horses with lower benchmarks…that’s why there are so many ex-Victorian horses in QLD., NT and northern NSW In addition, prizemoney is heading south ….big time and on a sharp Deep South trajectory…which is a result of the very poor economic management leading to difficult conditions in Victoria impacting on the take from the corporate bookmakers crashed revenue (even though 8% POC tax is competitive.) add to the mix to extortionate Workers Compensation charges by the Victorian Government will drive many trainers out of business. A leading trainer (not one of the mega factory trainers) has a bill of $400,000 for the year…and rising. Victoria is by the far the worst state in Australia for WC charges…How can trainers not pass this cost onto owners? (By comparison a similar sized stable in NSW is $30,000…) Also, they have a different tax structure in Australia…. Very different to NZ ….. Victoria is no longer the place to be training…all the above mentioned factors plus the dominance of the factory trainers, is going to make life interesting and most importantly, very costly for owners…
  5. Brian, I would be keen to read, having had my own battles with this mob. Again, what we’re battling is the gross lack of accountability (and integrity) across the board…at every level…. There is the need for a “royal commission” style hearing but as we know this would never happen as it would bring the industry down… full of admiration for your efforts in trying to secure the right outcome for your club…even though it’s just common sense.
  6. Considering the parlous state of NZ racing, if Mark Walker wasn’t training this amount of winners, then we should all give it away…it’s a team effort, so congratulations to all the hard working staff… he has access to the MOST number of horses, the BEST bred horses, the first choice of ordinary jockeys and GREAT staff, no financial worries…..so please…keep perspective…
  7. I keep shaking my head…how on earth can mainstream industry participants keep stumping up funds from the very small prizemoney pot for these “closed” races…admittedly the 4yo is an Open race… if it’s industry money paying, then the races should be open to ALL. Otherwise let the owners and NZB pay…it’s their race and they benefit, not the overall industry.. I would have thought with prizemoney the key to keeping bread & butter owners & breeders in NZ, it’s imperative the distribution is fair and far reaching…but that’s they way in this crazy, nonsensical world…the big get bigger…until there is no competition…then it all falls of the perch 👍
  8. As I have been saying for 10 years + on many forums, there is absolutely NO accountability in New Zealand…none, nada, zilch, zero, northing….NZ has a culture problem…a nation of buckpassers And can it be fixed? pigs will fly before that…
  9. Honestly, why would you people? THEY only want racing in the area north of Taupo...CD is finished. Watching the death of a beautiful, old friend is devastating...but that’s NZ racing...
  10. No she hasn’t ....she’ll be traded 4 or 5 times before her first foal hits the track...that’s the problem with today’s “investors”...not interested in developing families. Very different to Black Caviar or Makybe Dancer...
  11. Agree Horace...let’s keep everything in perspective. MB is the best NZ can offer, as we all know, the colts never get a chance because the heretics just keep flogging them off. But, as Horace has said, never, never mention her in the same breath as Sunline. Her efforts are now in the record books, but it’s a very low key record in comparison and I’m sure some of her owners who are true racing people, would agree. Most Group 1 races in NZ should not have that status, for various reasons. Good luck to her. She is a lovely mare ....and the opposition she faces every start, highlights the ever diminishing state of NZ racing.
  12. That’s why he didn’t last in Aust...forget the personal stuff, he can’t sit in a bus.
  13. Thank you for the above I’m guessing Winston didn’t ask JM about export...too controversial... JM’s response is very general...and probably didn’t want to stir the pot...Publicly at least. just reviewing the major documents it’s not mentioned at all.... So if the root cause of the problem was not addressed, then how can you fix the problem...and my fear is NZ racing will be back in the same position and no Government bail out....
  14. I would like to know the parameters given to John Messara by Winston Peters for the review of NZ Racing. would this info be a available under FOI? If so, how do I go about obtaining such? Or does anyone else have access to this information? I would think as a Minister of the Crown, that information would be on the public record...? In my view, Messara didn’t address certain issues....critical issues which have been flagged by Racing NSW...and I’m anxious to see if these were part of the criteria for investigation...
  15. Yep you’re 150% correct ?
  16. I think I’ll just ask them on Twitter. That’ll embarrass them...When I also include RNSW & RV on the question...????
  17. Exactly, so on what basis does NZTR make decisions ?
  18. Just an observation ..... has anyone ever looked at the trainers information on the NZTR site? How can NZTR plan accordingly if trainers don’t provide accurate updates concerning horse numbers in their stables? Does anyone (RIU) check the stable returns? Does NZTR racing ever check the accuracy and/or currency of stable returns? As they don’t, how can they plan?
  19. OK where’s the great lady apologising to all participants for the crap track HER club has produced...?‍♀️?‍♀️?‍♀️
  20. My irritation comes from knowing that NONE of these people are accountable....just sneaking things in when they think no one is looking...as my old bookmaker Dad would say “it’s only a rort if you’re not in on it”....really sums up NZ racing...
  21. IF....they (Victorian Stewards) have the will. That issue could also be part of the Police investigation...but as jockeys are still to be interviewed....(nothing advised publicly at the mo’), I’d say there are wheels in motion behind the scenes....
  22. I think Dazza is saving his efforts for what is to come....???
  23. I may be wrong, but I don’t think he would...perhaps he’d like to go... but Kawalla trains the Raffles horses in Oz...and I’d say with the stables Asian connections, he makes a comfortable living trading...
  24. OK thank you Chimbu.....here is his rap sheet for all to see...and people still want to defend him? If ever there was proof of what goes round, comes round...or as I say, where there’s smoke, there’s fire... And the most disappointing aspect this week? The syndicators had to be embarrassed into removing their horses...yeah, good look ....
  25. He’s just got FOUR years....must divest his interest in horses before they are permitted to start for anyone else...
