So, if it is all speculation and he has a reputation, a big business and his future livelihood to protect why choose to plead, No Contest'? Why instruct or take the advice of your legal team to agree to a four year ban if you are innocent of any wrongdoing? With his means, a protracted legal battle could have ensued and chances are if he was truly innocent he would have been found not guilty, or, even if found guilty with mitigating circumstances a much lesser penalty may have been able to be negotiated. As previously discussed there just has to be a reason why he has rolled over so meekly and one day it will become clear. Btw, the car analogy is a bloody long bow, IMO

1. As far as I am concerned you can throw the book at any person involved in racing in any jurisdiction who uses any sort of electrical device to correct behaviour or to frighten a horse into an improved performance. I don't care if they are a legend or a battler. 2. I don't care about his friends or the punters (who should be pleased that the game may be played on a more even/honest playing field) without him 3. The owners still have choices - the horses who underwent the 'treatment' didn't have that luxury 4. I do feel for any staff member who has been oblivious to what may have occurred, but suspect many have stayed quiet through financial necessity or the risk to their future career prospects if they spoke out. In a mess like this there will always be victims. The 'suit' didn't create them, the perpetrator did. Did he worry about what might happen to innocent parties if the house of cards fell down. Ah, no, I don't believe he did.

Good call, Rowley. I wonder if it some of the more experienced brigade might also be giving consideration/re-consideration to moving to Victoria? I'm thinking the likes of Alan Sharrock.

I'm sure there are others with 'rap sheets' like this and that some here will use them to justify/excuse the behaviour of Darren Weir but IMO this doesn't make pretty reading https://www.racenet.com.au/news/darren-weir-s-disciplinary-record-20190206

Racenet is great and I realise I could also have gone to loveracing to see the fields, but is it too much to ask for the TAB to be an up-to-date, easy to navigate, truly functional source of NZ racing info? I fear the answer to that is a $50m 'yes'

AT 10am this morning I tried to look through the Tauherenikau fields for Wednesday - not there. It is now after 4pm and they are still not there. Is Tauherenikau a poor relation?

OMG, you are absolutely right! This debacle seems to grow a new tentacle every day.

So he thought everyone wanted a day-trip to Westport? Part or a whole day off work, or away from home for the volunteers (at their own expense). Yes, this sounds like business as usual on the planet these people inhabit. Good point about the Board members, Reefton

Is there a site where I can read to read the details now?

Not a happy place to be ? Just wondering...Are you using the option that allows you to Accept' your bets before the bet is submitted? If not, I suggest you turn it back on. The default setting is ON. That way you at least get to check you haven't made an error before you submit it. There is no way I would ever turn it off. Without that safeguard the game is too much like Russian Roulette for me - errors are more often costly than profitable in my case. Also, Getting bets cancelled when an error is made has been made has been tightened up in store during 2018 due to the Money Laundering legislation (again). Lot of paperwork for TAB staff now and lots of rules around what will/won't be cancelled/ treated as a Bad Sell. As I'm sure you are aware online bets have always been placed on the basis that they can't be cancelled - error or not. If you have been fortunate enough to get bets cancelled pre-race by phoning the Help Desk you have been very lucky and in the minority.

This image is appearing for all to see on mainstream media such as Stuff. Personally, I find it more crass than offensive or amusing. Should it be deleted? I guess that depends on whether the site powers find it offensive.
-
Personally, I don't have huge issues with that particular poster. At times I even agree with him, other times I think he's OTT. Each to their own opinion. I have no problems with those who choose to criticise him either, so long as they don't partake in it as some kind of sport. Frankly, if he is in line to be banned, then there are a few others that can't be far away from forming a queue behind him.
-
Had I read them before your post alerted me to read the whole thread, I probably would have. IMO, any poster that chooses to belittle in the name of humour is showing more about their own character than the character/ability of the person they are critiquing. As I see it, It is one thing being an armchair critic of a presenter's performance, but quite another to slur their reputation (as CC did to PM). Gender didn't matter, although, obviously, this particular comment could only have been made about a female. Had a male-aligned comment of a similar sexual nature been made I would have challenged it too
-
Excuse me, I did not ask for it to be removed! I commented on part of CC's post as being unnecessary and disrespectful. However, I do believe that in fairness to those that commented on it, as it was originally written, that the removal of the offensive words should have been noted by the moderator. Just deleting it isn't helpful IMO - it sanitises the individual who was low enough to make it in the first place. Given your reaction, perhaps, I need to consider joining the exodus of posters if you are going to react in this manner. This is all a bit sad really, I hope this sort of stuff is not the start of a great site deteriorating into mediocrity or worse.
-
Now my comment makes no sense because the vile comment in the middle has been removed without reference to an edit for inappropriate content being made
-
I've never heard her on Trackside so won't offer an opinion on her ability or lack of it, but find the middle part of your statement unnecessary and distasteful.

As I understand the situation the answer to that is 'never'. Only a selection of options will be available on-course, in pubs and at TAB sites. I presume this may be a capacity issue relating to Jetbet. Others may be able to confirm the reasoning behind this. Glad I'm not a TAB staffer telling a punter that they can only access a certain selection online ?
-
Correct. How long before online is the only option?

For the list of improvements: Any chance that the results could be formatted in low-to-high race meeting number order, please? Making this change will see northern/central galloping meetings at the top of the dropdown box and the meaningless result somewhere obscure much further down (where it should be). The current view annoys the c&*p out of me.
-
At the moment it seems that you can only access relatively recent results - 21 Dec 2018 is the earliest date I can currently get results for. Hopefully, over time, we will see a longer range become available.

When I clicked on R3, I got a top of page banner saying something had gone wrong and to refresh the page. I did so and after 4 circles of death did their thing for 30 seconds or so I got R3 and all subsequent races second time round. Not looking forward to tomorrow when the first real pressure will be placed on the site

IMO, resisting saying something negative by getting the info. elsewhere is an absolute indictment on what should be a user-friendly, informative website where both sports and racing punters feel the $50m spend is giving them value for money. Sure, a few teething problems are always going to happen but I think punters deserve better than they have had this week, be it using the website and via customer service I read a TAB Facebook post which summed up for me why we have such a debacle. The poster was chosen to be a focus group member during the process. I quote his comment below: "... Lallit i was part of the focus group...i went into their Petone offices and it was an interview type session with me and 2 of their consultants...they recorded the discussion and asked me to repeat myself to just about every suggestion i had several times...they couldn't grasp what i was saying...both of then said to me at the end of the session they weren't gamblers so had no idea about how it works...i came home to my partner on that day and said "well the TAB is now phucked"...maybe it'll take me a while to get use to it but at this stage I'm not much of a fan...can't get the streaming going on my mobile but ok on ipad...maybe just teething issues...juries out for mine"

Haven't found a percentage box but if you fill in the amount you want to spend on your quaddie on the bottom (of the two boxes) on the betslip the top one will auto-populate with the percentage

Another thing I find disturbing is the Trackside audio teams obvious lack of knowledge of how to operate the website. It seems that they are operating without any or sufficient training. I feel for them it must be really hard to hold it together when operating live if the site is a mystery to you. Makes for hard listening but it is clearly not their fault. Another example of poor planning by the powers that be, IMO
