Obviously the NZ Racing Industry. If Entain is getting that much action from NZ on their online casinos sites it has to be a huge amount of money going offshore to a lot of other online sites. Younger people get attracted to the online casino sites because its a lot easier to push a button to bet on the slots than coming to grips with how to work out race form. Often I will be in a dairy or gas station and young people come in to purchase a paysafe voucher which is then used to load their online casino accounts. I think online NZ casino slot playing is way higher than what people think.

last year Entain reported as the NZ TAB assets totaling $138 million (£70m) - then in their 2023 Financial accounts they quote assets value as £1,208.7m how does that work? As for the £250m in Goodwill - please. It's a wagering partnership agreement so why are Entain including the TAB assets in their financial accounts ? To make their overall financial position look better than what it is? The NZ TAB must have included the assets below in their accounts also. I think they call it creative accounting. For the purposes of UK LR 10.4.1 R, as at 31 January 2023, the assets of the entity subject to the strategic partnering arrangement had a gross asset value of approximately NZ$138m (approximately £70m1) and generated operating profits of NZ$16m (approximately £8m1) in the year ending 31 July 2022 TAB NZ selects Entain - 25yr strategic arrangement | Entain (entaingroup.com) Entain_Financial_Statements_2023.pdf (entaingroup.com)

Who is bull 💩ing who? Last year Entain reported to it's shareholders 'Active digital customers' were 250,000, that's not allowing for non account holders who walk into betting outlets. Either the NZ TAB gave ramped up account numbers (masters at doing that) to Entain when they were negotiating or Entain ramped up the numbers to shareholder's when looking to do the deal. Entain have said they didn't audit numbers before the deal was struck, which is unbelievable given the cost of the exercise. No wonder Entain's share price has taken a massive dive over the past 12 months. TAB Problems - ENTAIN's solution - bring it inhouse!
NZRacing replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
He used to list the NZ TAB as a past working place. Ha he largely contributed to sending it broke with his ill researched purchases and lack of wagering and managerial knowledge and experience and has distanced himself from any past working association with it. -

Yes correct but to be fair the odds to pick it was only $1.01 -

The NZ TAB no doubt will or have already paid out Open Bet and Paddy Power for the remaining years left in their contracts reportably close to $20 million a year. The main person behind getting Open Bet involved with the NZ TAB in the purchase of a new betting platform and ongoing associated yearly costs in the millions left a couple of years ago when the NZ TAB reduced the number of GM's. No doubt he received a rediculous payout based on his rediculous salary. Guess who he is employed by now, Open Bet. You couldn't make it up. -
to have the Sunshine Coast meeting today declared as 'abandoned'. A friend had a share in a runner at the meeting and was going to have a bet on it but obviously he couldn't well at least not on the NZ TAB. He said he was just speaking to a stable rep in Brisbane and was told the meeting was not abandoned. He checked a couple of Aussie betting sites and the meeing was open for selling. A while later the Sunshine Coast meeting appeared back on the NZ TAB site and was open but was now under a different meeing number. The meeting was open for Fixed odds betting the previous day for betting. The NZ TAB is currently running a no deduction on your fixed odds price if runners are scratched following the placement of your bet. Due to a heavy 10 track a number of races at the Sunshine Coast meeting were hit hard prior to their 8:30am scrachting deadline time this morning with race 3 hit the hardest dropping from 13 to 3 starters. The details on the no dedutions promo are below. By abandoning the original meeting all bets are refunded which defeats the purpose of the reasons why the no deduction promo was introduced. I guess they give themselves an out with this clause at the bottom of the promo. But it's not a good look when you have opened a meeting and accept money from your customers and then you change the game rules by advising your customers that the meeting is abandoned but then you open it up again under a new meeting number. I don't have a problem with them changing the conditions but not when a meeting has already been open for selling.

Betting with the TAB is prohibited in some overseas jurisdictions due to a number of legal obligations that we have to adhere to. This includes the likes of countries where offshore betting is not allowed, or countries where our betting provider precludes us from offering our services. We also have obligations under the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 (AML/CFT Act for short). Currently we only offer our services in New Zealand (and the dependent territories of Niue, Cook Islands and Tokelau). Persons located in Australia may have a TAB account for use while they are in New Zealand only. Please note that customers with Australian addresses can only use their TAB account while physically located in New Zealand due to Australian legislation. ------------------------- You have to wonder why the NZ TAB didn't seek a license to operate in Australia. Cost was only about 20k. Oviously they were clueless that changes were going to take place. It went through legislation and the media reported on its progress before that. John Allen quote re new betting platform - He said: “What they have done is ensure the New Zealand TAB, a significant and valuable industry asset, can now compete with the rest of the world, increase our revenue and in turn, our distributions back to racing and sport.” ------------- Ha not much point competing with the rest of the world when thy can't access it.

That was a big call early on. They own three I know of in Australia - Neds, Ladbrokes and Sportsbets. NZ punters don't receive the same odds especially on sports events. They want GEO blocking, not a good look when your not supplying the same service odds wise as across the ditch when you say otherwise. When MGM got involved with another bookmaking outfit to partner in the UK the writing was on the wall that Entain has upset them business wise. Bad move to have upset them with the US market so big. The odds on the Chair woman to be gone gone by Xmas would be at a short price. A near 50% drop in share price this year is alarming given how well other world bookmaking firms have performed.

https://www.gamblinginsider.com/news/23372/entain-share-price-hits-lowest-point-since-august-2020 That would be a disaster for Entain but it looks on the cards to happen.

offence when they don't publish exactly who the Authorised wagering operators and bookmakers are. As a Governing body your not doing due dilegence to those involved in your Industry when not publishing the companys that are registered. If you want to regulate the market by setting guidelines surely it's up that organisation to stipulate the aproved suppliers to do business with. Thats how normal business's would operate. And exactly who does a person relate to? It should say any person 'registered by NZTR'. may publish a list from time to time. You want to have a rule which if not adherd to will constitue as a serious racing offence yet you have a wimisical ruling like that. A court wouldn't let someone be charged if the organisation that they paid regulating fees to didn't supply them with the relevant information in order to abide by a ruling. But the main reason you would provide the info and update is so that registered people are made fully aware of the authorised companies which by joining rather than ones that are not will return more revenue to the NZ Racing Idustry to benefit all. May from time to time - #$^k me. NZTR obviously have money to burn as they dont try to increase outside revenue. The days of sitting back and clipping the ticket are gone you have to work and use your head to get results.

I guess they will still hold the license and transfer the proceeds to Entain. Did anyone ask 'so where is the money to run the RIB is now coming from?' -

Did anyone hear that part of the deal was to hand over the gaming machine income because I was told that was part of the deal. Unbelievable if they got bluffed into doing that. If thats true there is $17 million a year gone which is needed to run the RIU. -

Why any Company would sign a deal for 25 years is beyond me. McAnulty needs to give himself an upper-cut for allowing a NZ monopoly to be given away for that long a period of time. He should have said make the contract for 3 years plus 10 years if NZ is happy with how things have transpired. If Roberts legal skills were that good he wouldn't have allowed for a 25 year contract. Maybe they have a get out clause if Entain don't perform but that was probably out of their mental range to have consided including. The NZ Board has more sports related members than racing ones. I wonder what the deal was for sports to help the deal go through. I have heard a number and it its true it will mean a lot less for the NZ racing Industry. Did anyone from the Racing codes management ask what the deal for sports was going to include? The botom line is Entain are more concerned about their share price than the NZ Racing Industry. In March Entain said $1 billion dollars over next 5 years and yesterday they said $900 million? It's not good to read they are prepared offered an additional $100 million if Geo Blocking is introduced. Is that why over the past few weeks for the $100 million differential? Part of allowing a Company to be a monopoly was that prices were not uncompetitive to consumers. The NZ TAB should have lost their monopoly years ago because as we know race odd prices compared to Aussie have never been competitive. That is a bull#*& number by the TAB saying 250k customers, maybe 20 years ago today active customers be well under half of that as current turnover figures would confirm. Interesting to see the worst share price in last 12 months for Entain was just prior to the news that they had secured a deal with NZ. Two winners out of this will be NZ Sports and the Entain share price. Could be a worse deal than their last major #$#^ up. I wonder how much they have to pay to get out of the contacts with Paddy Power and Open Bet which amounts to around $17 million a year. Good luck to the NZ Racing Industry your going to need it. -
fom a link on DeLore's latest blog but you can't read it on the NZ TAB website https://www.tabnz.org/annual-reports http://www.theoptimist.co.nz/ read the Annual report from this link. Honestly how $#@#ed up is that! Obviously the Minister received a copy what about the racing codes?? Forget about transparency that was gone long ago but how about sticking to legisaltion which Governs you.
-
that the NZ TAB has $85 million on deposite? Fro 'The Optomist' site I am going to call that crap but will be proven one way or anothe when the Annual Report comes out. Anyone know when it;s due out - this would be the latest ever for it to be released. I am picking even their bank is unaware of that .

It was legislation that the TAB threshold was to be $10,000 (as it is in Australia) punters got lied to and told it was $1,000 from day one. Amendment was made a few years later where the figure of $10,000 was reduced.

You think its a real award? Rule 1 in the award wnning world - you don't pay for an award and self nominate. There are a few of these so called award winning websites where you pay for self gratification. https://www.tabnz.org/consider-odds-campaign-claims-major-global-marketing-award https://www.thedrumprawards.com/live/en/page/how-to-enter You could be the owner of a small industrial shop in Michigan, the sensei of a karate school in California or a physician in Texas. People in all sorts of places and professions get targeted by emails congratulating them on winning a “best of” award in their community or field (as did all of the above, who filed reports with the BBB Scam Tracker). There are plenty of genuine local business and professional awards, and they generally don’t cost anything. “Most organizations or people would be happy to receive something like that,” Breyault says. But if “you’re being asked to pay for the honor, that’s a red flag.”Shady operators solicit payment for a plaque or other keepsake of the prize, typically a couple hundred dollars but sometimes ranging over $1,000, according to BBB data. They pitch it as good advertising for your business, but Breyault says that even if you do get something to hang on your wall, your money might be better spent on more far-reaching marketing, like online ads. “Let’s face it, the companies that are offering these things are for-profit businesses,” he says. “Many of them simply want to give out as many commemorative plaques and awards as possible.”Even if the “award” notification doesn’t ask for money, be wary if it requires you to click a link to claim the prize — it could be a phishing ploy to infect your device with malware that gives scammers access to personal information.

In that race 1 at Rangiora the fav opened at $3.60 now into $3.20 but no runners have moved out to compensate for the price change. Pretty poor and ordinary form. Unless you believe that a runner is over the odds stay away from betting into early markets on the NZ TAB you won't beat the house with a % overlay like they put into the race book. -

race 1 at Rangiora tomorrow the fixed odds % on the race is 150%. At least Dick Turpin would be proud of the NZ TAB. And they seriously wonder why NZ punters are betting overseas.
