https://www.parliament.nz/en/pb/sc/make-a-submission/document/54SCGOA_SCF_5B1E49CE-798C-4466-E6FF-08DD18052784/racing-industry-amendment-bill I really doubt it's worth the time and effort to make a submission. 98% of the 120 MP's who will vote on the legislation would have no understanding of gambling and will get railroaded into believing whatever figures get thrown at them. The DIA did a 1/10 job of collecting overseas fees from gambling companies taking betting on NZ racing product and now they are supplying background material and policy information on this proposed new bill. It will be a classic case of the blind leading the blind.

They are in cuckooland if they think GEO blocking will bring in an additional $1 billion. Whatever the amount is going overseas I would be surprised if they recovered 20% of it. The big punters who bet overseas due to higher odds will get around GEO blocking. Over the next 20 years another generation of punters will be gone. Casino's, gambling machines and Lotto will keep attracting the younger crowd. The increase on gaming machines is a huge worry. Thats where the NZ TAB is getting bashed. The ease of pushing of a button verse trying to do form to bet on a race is too complicated for the younger generation. When you look at the TAB's three main NZ competitors increase in gambling activity below and the nil growth of the NZ TAB in the previous 12 months it's pretty obvious where the leakage is going. I don't think under Entain the service to NZ punters has improved which is a worry if they are the only game in town if GEO blocking is introduced. I know a few long-time punters who although they hardly bet overseas won't like getting shut out and left with only one betting option. It might have helped if the NZ TAB had better educated their customers that every dollar bet in NZ funds and improves the NZ racing industry and sporting codes. Lotto pushes the fact that every dollar returns a % to their community. Some overseas bookmakers do pay fees to the NZ racing codes, why haven't the betting public been advised which ones do? The codes should be saying if you do want to bet overseas consider using these betting sites as they support NZ racing. If it comes to the crunch when considering overseas betting sites and one supports NZ racing and another one doesn't I am sure the majority would support the former. Ridiculous complaining about leakage when you don't proactively look to address certain areas yourself. I hate to think how much money has been lost because the DIA whose job it is to enforce the above hasn't followed through. The amount of actual overseas betting outfits that take betting on NZ product and pay consumption charges is at the low end of the scale. When GEO blocking comes in you might find the NRL, tennis and other Australian sporting codes that NZ punters bet on come knocking at the door and say if it's good enough for you guys to charge Australian betting companies to pay fees on NZ sporting events they take bets on, then the same should apply to you guys taking bets on our product. NRL season betting turnover on NZ TAB verse Aussies taking betting on NZ based league - its not hard to do the math's. Saying GEO blocking would bring in additional $1 billion is plucking a figure out of the sky - they need to come up with a better case than that. CER was created for a reason.

Why don't you start at the beginning of the post so you understand what the problem was. My mates put their bets on knowing at the time they would receive bonus cash back if they didn't finish top 4 - they were credited it with bonus cash and then a few not seven days as stipulated when they placed their bets the bonus cash was taken form their accounts. The only clear thing is they got ^%$^%ed over. Great customer service. Point out exactly where that was mentioned? I don't think you fully understand the situation. Very bizarre comment to haver been made.

I think most realise the difference between the two. The problem weas their T's and C's didn't reflect the changes that they made which is 💩business practice. Only two scenario's - 1 - your either clueless about thinking to change T's and C's or 2 -you don't give a#$%^ about your customers. Betting market is $1.90 on each option. I am betting on #2

Ha ha they just updated the promo info on bonus bets. Expiry time is deleted. Idiots https://www.tab.co.nz/cdn/contentful/assets/3vlu2lppX4g1tnrO8wMvSh/865c45f78567846f3caff6d64f01fda3/PROMOTIONAL_TERMS_AND_CONDITIONS__1_November_2024_.pdf

You must be an expert at touching your toes

Dean Shannon said NZ punters would get the same deal as their Aussie owned sites - that's a Tui advert . Neds they own bonus cash expiry time 7 days. NSW TAB is 7 days expiry. We know who GEO block will suit.
-
From Bonus Bet prom info updated 2nd Aust 24. Mates placed bets with 7 day expiry which was detailed in their accounts on conditions for all bonus cash credited last Sat. Unethical business practice to be stripping customer funds contrary to your trading conditions.
-
Only 2? everyone I know gets 4. They must hate you
-
No not definitely 4 - my mate gets all races on one and sometimes 2 for Sat meetings. He has done okay on using bonus bet, hasn't made thousands but definitely is ahead for the last 12 months. He isn't happy with 24 hours as usually just bets on Wed and Saturday's. Definitely 4 races on weekends and 2nd to 3rd other days
-
You think the clowns would update their terms and conditions to reflect the above change. Unbelievable. https://www.tab.co.nz/cdn/contentful/assets/784iDxFWYpGfRnPeLsCAm7/00d0f351647d08867066327dfd6eabea/PROMOTIONAL_TERMS_AND_CONDITIONS__2_August_2024_.pdf

Click on the details relating to bonus back 2nd to 4th for Trentham.
-
change the bonus time expiry time from 7 days to 24 hours but fail to advertise the fact. One friend lost $100 and the other $90. Needless to say they are not happy. They want GEO blocking yet treat punters with contempt. Horrible outfit.
-
attracted a lot of complaints. https://cdn.asa.co.nz/backend/documents/2024/07/09/24108 .pdf The TAB's response at the end is classic spin doctoring at it's best

If they are not taking credit or debit card deposits go to a dairy or gas station and ask for a 'paysafe voucher' for the amount you want - then use the voucher numbers to deposit on Betfair. The DIA clowns think that by blocking credit/card deposits to overseas gambling sites will stop NZ punters using them. Paysafe vouchers are only one of a number of ways you can top-up by first withdrawing funds from a ATM . Sadly the DIA gambling knowledge would be on par with a 12 year old. With the DIA doing the framework for the Govt's allocation of online sites to be regulated with an auction process will no doubt be a major stuff up. https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2024/08/11/new-zealands-online-gambling-regulation-a-game-changer/ Bottom line is It will decrease revenue to the Racing Industry. Online casino betting is far more attractive to the younger generation than horse and sports betting. DIA = Dummies In Action.

$13.86 - $5.71 in 12 months has obviously burnt a lot of shareholders. A billion dollar fine plus paying too much for the purchasing of Companies along with poor management is getting blamed for the current situation. Bottom line is a poorly managed Company. They are going to have to start selling some of their assets to get back on track. Last three year's their highest share price was $22.10. 10,000 shares at $22.10 = $221,000 now worth $57,100 a loss of $163,900. No wonder the shareholders are screaming for blood. They are close to getting dropping out of the 'Footsie'.

Story below says Written Up nearly made a winning debut under the partnership yet the official NZTR race result record shows it was trained by Dean Howard. Either NZTR record updating is crap or the writer is incompetent by not checking facts before publishing.

the number of times these clown's don't know what day of the week it is quiet frankly is unbelievable. There are only seven day's a week surely it can't be that hard to get it right.

ATC out of the woods or 4 months life left?
NZRacing replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
From ATC Annual Report last year. Herald quotes that the remaining $90m is due for payment on November 8 That above quote's a year ago. Apparently re-zoning was consented to a while ago. Environment Court’s sealing of the agreement reached at the mediation in July 2023. So the ATC continue to pay millions in interest until supposably November. Something doesn't add up in this deal. ATC reports that is was a Chinese based Company but Mt Hope is a NZ based Company. They won't have $10 million in the bank if and when the deal goes through, more like a deficit of $10,000,000. The Auckland Trotting Club has wiped out property like a tsunami eg old stand at Alex Park, Petrol and Burger King land, loss on apartment building. Apparently they also lost the Employment case against the previous oncourse TAB manager, so there will be a few hundred million gone west they were confident of winning. Worst run Club in NZ ever. Hard to see them surviving. ANNUAL-REPORT-2023-SOFT-COPY.pdf (cloudcdn.nz) -

what day of the week it is? Unbelievable. And can someone explain to me exactly how one gets labelled as a 'acknowledged re-trainer?
