  1. M&M's ???? I knew they were pretty wet, but didn't realise they were there. You been on the plonk again Chief, get the missus to give you a massage with lavender oil, very relaxing
  2. I recall, and as long as my memory is not affected by alcohol or glory, that I looked up the rainfall data and racing dates for Hong Kong(Shatin) once, and while their season stops before the monsoons come, it is still a lot of rain during the racing season
  3. Racing: Underthemoonlight to take well-worn path to Group One target 11 Jun, 2018 5:00am 2 minutes to read Underthemoonlight. Photo / Race Images Other An aborted attempt at a Brisbane Group One feature will play in the favour of local race fans when classy mare Underthemoonlight heads to Tauranga in a fortnight to defend her Listed Woburn Farm Classic crown. The underrated El Hermano mare overcame topweight of 60kgs and a handy field to score a courageous win over 1400m at Te Rapa on Saturday. The victory has part-owner Hamish McQuade looking forward to the Tauranga challenge although thinking about what might have been with slightly better timing. "That was a top win on Saturday as we thought she still might have been a run short and she had to give the rest of them weight as well," he said. "I guess her affinity with Te Rapa played in her favour and the fact is that she is a pretty classy mare. She can be underrated at times and people do want to pigeonhole her as a wet-tracker, but she really goes best when there is just some cut in the ground. "We had wanted her to run a week earlier as we did have plans to take her to Brisbane for the Tatts Tiara, but the timing just didn't work out. "She will go to Tauranga in a fortnight for the fillies and mares race that she won last year and then have a wee break," said McQuade. "We will bring her back for the Foxbridge Plate at Te Rapa, a race she also won last year, and then on to the [G1] Tarzino Trophy at Hastings. - NZ Racing Desk
  4. Just a point here, they race in places like Shatin, that is in the monsoon belt and gets many many times more rainfall than NZ(West Coast excluded, no disrespect Reefton), because they have an all weather track, Strathayr to be exact..................and Shatin is built on reclaimed land
  5. And we a still waiting for the Jewels comp winner to surface.
  6. Well the Messara report is due in July, and while everyone is saying it will focus on costs and a new sustainable model for Racing, perhaps he just might devote a section towards getting people back oncourse for the bigs days and carnivals
  7. Knowing him, he'd have a little camera with face recognition capability, he'd then find out everyone who ever threw anything at him, ring them up and abuse the crap out of them
  8. Once upon a time There were 10,000 Barry's in NZ, keen oncourse enthusiasts, that would never miss a meeting in the region. I used to be one of them. What do we have now, maybe 500.
  9. Ellerslie used to get 20-25,000 oncourse on Boxing Day not so long ago, when they had the infield open to picnics and boot parties Used to love it, a relaxing day after Xmas Day
  10. Their heavy must be a lot different to our heavy(a Trentham type heavy), as the times were 7-8 seconds faster. The Stradbroke for instance was won in a 1400m equivalent of 1.23!
  11. Just shows you can't suppress idiocy and ineptitude
  12. The Baker/Forsman juggernaut rolls on, 4 winners today, daylight back to second and more daylight back to third, Michael Pitman, who on 64 wins is exactly half of the Baker/Forsman total, even though he is having a great season, and is already ahead of his best tally in 5 years with 7 weeks to run. New York Minute, along with Art Deco, probably the best H15 horses in NZ. Even with that Trentham mud pie NYM, could still run 1.16.85 for 1200 Underthemoonlight, well and truly overs today. I recall Karyn McQuade saying a couple of years ago, that even with the good heavy track stats, the horse was better on a soft track
  13. I knew she had something to do with cakes, and I thought you might have got your rhyming slang wrong TC, so I looked it up and much to my surprise, found this Betty Crocker A chick who is ALWAYS ready to SPREAD for your FROSTING!
  14. Congratulations though, to Richie and Punter Pete, couple of longtime comp regulars. I sent Ocker75, last weeks Jewels winner, a reminder/congrats PM, which has never been looked at, because of course, they no longer exist, either that or they only log in every 12 years
  15. If you crunch a few figures in the NZRB Annual Reports from 2004 to 2017, and compare total costs, as a ratio of NBR(net betting revenue), then 2004 NBR 177.7 mil Costs 108 mil Ration 60.8% This figure stays reasonably constant through till 2010(63.6%, 64.7, 56.3, 60.6, 63.1, 61.2), then in 2011 it starts to climb 2011 64.3% 2012 68.6 2013 65.9 2014 68.6 2015 71.9 2016 73.0 2017 73.8 I've used NBR as a measure, as I think it better reflects the performance of the TAB, as opposed to total turnover And if you extrapolate out the 2018 6 month report, then NBR is tracking towards 302.1 mil, with costs at 218.2 mil, a ratio of 72.2%
  16. $90 mil operating costs, that would be revolutionary It has been debated ad infinitum on RC over the years, about the tail wagging the dog
  17. Reasonable fields, even though they stole 2 races from the north, even the open 1200 that is down on numbers has some class gallopers. Fine weather towards the end of the week, what's it going to be, a sticky pud H10
  18. Use my dog Milo's trick, he sucks his blanket till he falls asleep.......hilarious to watch
  19. John is arranging an opponent for you as we speak. If they agree, then probably one of the nicest people to ever grace a keyboard..........other than you and me of course
  20. TC is filling in
  21. Is it normal procedure Chief Stipe, to delete a persons mailbox if they decide to leave a site?. It's a bit like the line in Hotel California anyway, You can check out any time you like,But you can never leave I think the real reason was more to do with paranoia
  22. 30 I think you said
  23. Probably not my call, Chief Stipe?
  24. Would you mind if we moved this debate, unless it is about WC results, to BOAY vs RC - the issues
