I would quit while I was ahead if I were you Mr Turakina. You opening yourself up to a whole world of pain for absolutely no gain. My concerns are not about you, rather the system of inequity.

Just finished reading the transcript. Who needs a lawyer when the prosecution argues the case down for you. The defendent would have been laughing all the way home. Compare the case of contaminated kibble with this comedy. In the absence of any evidence to say the defendent was solely responsible for the positives, the outcome should have been one of example. The evidence presented states that the substance needed to be injected. How then would that happen in the kennel block? The dog would have to be removed from the kennel or the perpetrator used a bloody long needle while the dog stood perfectly still. To the JCA's credit, they did not substitute the previous penalty. Anyone see the bus tickets raining from the sky that day?

FFS! Stick to the issues at hand. Jason may or may not be this that or the other, but that has absolutely NO relevence to matters currently before us. Field selection is a major issue in the CD because of the conflicts of interest that exist at both clubs, yes both clubs. I am NOT making accusations against the people involved, BUT, while those conflicts exist, the complaints will continue to roll in. Moving to centralisation is long past due! The club system does NOT work. Too many influencers, too many conflicts of interest. Let's get serious and move forward. Was told last night that a report in to the running of the Wanganui Club was tabled this week. I will be very interested to hear from a member of the club what the conclusions were, and what remedial work is to be undertaken.

I don't think the comment was an attack at all. Just an observation. The burden is being carried by the children because of parental behaviour. Some would say the children are being exploited in order for the parent to fulfill his plan, his dream. Some may see that situation as quite sad, even unacceptable? Each to their own. But I honestly don't see that comment as an attack.

To be fair, they have been groomed from an early age. They have been bought up to believe winning is all that matters. How is immaterial, only the result counts.

A statement from RV read: "With immediate effect, the following criteria will apply:1. A licensed or registered person is ineligible to win any premiership, medal, or award in Victoria for any racing year if that person:a) engages in conduct that results in a disqualification or warning off from racing for any period of time; orb) serves any period of a disqualification or warning off, regardless of when the offending conduct occurred; orc) engages in conduct that results in a suspension of their licence or registration (or any privilege attached to their licence or registration) for a period of two months or more.2. RV also retains full discretion to revoke any premiership, medal or award which has been won for any particular racing year if the winning person:a) is subsequently deemed to be ineligible pursuant to clause 1; orb) has otherwise, in the opinion of RV, conducted themselves in a manner which has undermined the integrity, reputation or public image of racing."RV's integrity boss Jamie Stier said they wanted to make it clear that any person disqualified for any amount of time in a given season should not be heralded at the end of it."It was determined that we needed a uniform approach around the eligibility for persons that are suspended or disqualified to win premierships and annual awards," Stier said."We reached a position that a licensed or registered person who commits a serious breach of the Rules of Racing should not be celebrated and we will enforce the criteria with immediate effect."Lindsay Park (205 winners) is well-clear of the next best training outfit in Ciaron Maher & David Eustace (140), which effectively hands them the state premiership. The Hayes/Dabernig team will also claim the Melbourne crown, with their 60 metro winners placing them well clear of Maher & Eustace and Tony McEvoy (both on 38).The rule change also means recently disqualified jumps jockey Martin Kelly is ineligible for the Tommy Corrigan Medal, an award he won for the 2017-18 season.

Should make a few think twice. https://www.punters.com.au/news/weir-dealt-another-blow-by-rv_181532/

Who ever accepted the nomination should have been fined. Listening to Rosso and McCook on the radio, all are agreed the dog was not eligible. An Above All nomination had previously been denied, precedent existed. There should be no payout, the rules are clear. An inquiry should be opened into the no show of Cole at that meeting. When were the additional two runners scratched? Your industry is shambolic!
-
I thought the penalty was extremely harsh, but the rule was widely publicised and has been in existence for quite sometime. My point was, if a life ban for using a sheepskin in training is the precedent, could a proven live or dead baiting charge be argued down to a lesser penalty? My view is no, and the penalty should apply to all involved. After all everyone involved profited from stakes, wages, and the punt.
-
Protected species or not, the current case has no precedent in NZ. So, when looking at prosecuting and sentencing the precedents set in Australia must be followed. Greyhound Australasia would be horrified if NZ chose to ignore the rules signed up to.
-
This arrived this morning passing through several hands before reading. This is a very interesting document relevant to a case currently before the courts. As the GRNZ is a member of Greyhound Australasia and so is subject to the collective rules of that organisation, the penalty in this particular case MUST reflect on any future decisions made when looking to cases of a similar nature. Now it is true that tanned sheepskin is permitted for use as a training lure here in NZ, BUT only a tanned sheepskin. Raw skins or any other part of an animal is NOT. This penalty is dated June of this year, it is the most recent precedent available to the adjudicators when making comparisons. Your thoughts. http://radb.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Media_Release_LRR42.18a_LRR42.18b_Tim_Noy-1.pdf

Agree. They want statements that are relevant, post rule changes (2012), statements that can be backed up, statements that support the rule of law. Any statements outside a specific time frame that cannot be corroborated just add invalid noise.

Just a thought....If Cole goes down which is a possibility, then the dogs have to go somewhere. Now I'm a wee bit cynical about the hangers on, could it be that they will all be first in the queue to reap the benefits of his demise? After all there are some nice dogs in the kennel who will be looking for new trainers. On the flip side could it be that none of the vermin give a shite about live baiting, seems the only two options that make any sense.

Do you know when the full trial will begin, has an estimation given?
-
I heard that too. Abusing members of the public going about their legal business on a pubic street? Has he not tarnished the industries image enough? He should not be handling any dogs at or outside the track. The area he frequents is NOT a dog designated area and if the public start making complaints in earnest it will again reflect badly on you all. He arrives grubby, makes a spectacle of himself, and has been seen giving the bird to participants entering the northern entrance. Yes, buckets provided by the club for a man that NEVER turns up to a club meeting. If I were a member, I would be pissed! If the manager's goal is to foster and encourage animosity, then well done, you are a total success. Roll on Monday, will be a full media circus.?

Brendan exhibits once again the contempt he has for everyone attached to the industry. Very disappointed Mike was not up to the challenge.

I very rarely use profanity in my comments, but FFS! a shirt tale malfunction? With all that is going on at present this does not rate. Yes there is an issue around consistency of rulings, the who in decisions made. I can tell you that Nathan presently is not one of the chosen ones so he was very lucky to miss the wrath of the gods. Get over it people. Talk about the real issues.
-
Obviously Nathan was cold, most handlers know how that feels. He would not have been aware the shirt tail was showing. I honestly could care less about a shirt tail. If you wear the uniform pictured on the website, at least 60% of the participants will be hospitalized with hypothermia during winter months here in NZ. It's an absolute joke. Staying warm or cool is a basic human right. People affected by heat and/or cold pose a risk to not only their own safety, but also the safety of the dogs and others. Each individual is affected differently and it is about time this one size fits all mentality was chucked out. Winter attire must be appropriate to the conditions, time exposed, health, age, gender, and the job involved.

Just read the stipes report. Very sad read. Of note, two dogs broke hocks today and I would not wish that on any trainer or owner. Lochinvar Flash and Jinja Flash. Unfortunately for Lochinvar, he was owned and trained by ar$$$$$es! 8 starts for 7 cheques, trained by a kennel who won 2 million last year, and that was not enough to get him a home on a couch after rehabilitation. Jinja, on the other hand, will get the best of care and no doubt will be a fabulous pet in retirement. How do I know this, well the small kennel has a long history of love and care while the large kennel does not. When will this industry man up and stop supporting the greed monsters!???? Not bloody good enough!

Rendle put himself in the driver's seat for his own gain, only to resign when the investigation began, reluctantly had no other choice. However, while in power he convinced the board to hire a new CEO, whom they paid well over the odds for. CEO lasted less time than last years fashion. On his watch, a large proportion of staff became redundant. On his watch, the public speech ban became law. On his watch, the bankruptcy rules were circumvented. On his watch, his bestie was put to the sword. On his watch, puppy farming became entrenched for the chosen ones. With the heavy breeding program now in place, he could easily forget who actually bred all the dogs he raced. He now lurks in the shadows, popping up from time to time, to remind us all what his plan was all about, it isn't the rest of you. I agree with the post above, his TV appearance was cowardly.

I think their time would have been better spent taking a review of multiple decisions made in the CD over the last six months. The collective strength of such footage would have found in their favour and probably pointed to a potential pattern. It is great that the decision makers have been put on notice, but is it enough? The issue was not a one-off. Just my opinion.
-
Wouldn't get too excited. Possible he is going to be part of the Messara report restructure. But that would leave Kerr as acting CEO, Racing Manager, and Welfare lady.

There is an abundance of trousers styles that compliment all body shapes. Tights are a lazy choice and because of there revealing nature should never be worn on race days. Nothing wrong with properly fitted trousers which are size appropriate.
-
Speaking to a participant today it seems his highness has had his castle permit revoked.
-
Tights, the wearing of.Tights are not sanctioned track wear and in my opinion for good reason. I have seen some shocking examples of why they are inappropriate on the telly. Tights so stretched that you can see not only the type of underwear the person is wearing but also the colour. Tights that show all bumps, lumps, and indentations, and tights that would make a camel blush. Before Milo gets all hot and bothered, I wish to state this post is not about people who carry weight. This is about the rule. Tights have a cross next to them on the dress code advisory, and I have given valid reasons why. There are women wearing tights on track that look good, they are either on the thin side or have chosen tights made of appropriate fabric. Now the issue is that because some look good there have been allowances made. Rightly or wrongly? However, the inconsistency has lead to strong criticisms from some quarters, others questioning why there are even rules when others not wearing tights have come under fire. The CD is a shocking example of the dress code. There are days when some look like they grabbed their attire out of the dirty laundry on the way out of the door, or pulled last weeks clothes out from under the vehicle seat. One woman wears her husband's warehouse track pants on a weekly basis, not allowed. Brown boots are the go with one leading kennel. Just some examples that can be seen on the telly. For Pete's sake look in the mirror before you leave home. Try and look like professionals, have some pride!
