Are you completely thick or just not flash as comprehension. Read what i said , it was obviously in the past that i dealt with them because the NZRB are no longer in existence. This is obviously above your level based on your replies Greg
-
Great point but if you ever dealt with NZRB on a commercial matter you would understand that such an idea would be well beyond their comprehension from the chair to the tea lady? Greg
-
Keep up Brodie , there is no such thing as the Racing board anymore and has not been for some time. It has been replaced by RITA and cost cutting is already well underway under the general direction of the Board Im sure that will please you just as it does to those with an interest in all things NZ racing. Come in Ranga, i can see why you tease him all the time? Greg

You cant be serious or you nothing about running a book or both. Heres an interesting snippet from offshore re percentages which you contradict with your bizarre statement above PERCENTAGES DO MATTER With the increase in taxes bookies just aren’t offering anywhere near the value we, as punters were able to secure 12 months ago. Tristan gave me an indication of what affect the taxes have had on the TopSport prices. When the Melbourne Cup field jumped this year, his market was 119% compared to last year when it was 116.4%. The 2019 Caulfield Cup was at 120.1% compared to 115.4% and the Victoria Derby 120.3% compared to 115.2% in 2018. With no Winx the Cox Plate was a massive 124% against 110.2% in the last year of the great mares four-peat. Some will say who cares, the punters will take whatever they are offered. But the reality is no they won’t and many of the serious players won’t take the price as it’s not value against what they have a specific horse rated at, so they turn their back on the race, and in the case of Dr Nick they turn their back on Australian racing. The rise in percentages is a direct result of the increased taxes on bookmakers and as we’ve seen in the case of Dr Nick there is in fact a breaking point at which punters will accept and when they won’t. Now before those who feel this is a case of feeling sorry for the bookies jump all over me, I can assure you I’m not, I’m actually concerned for the punters and the overall health of the Australian racing industry. Trents Road and what a great Pub it was until the turn of the century Greg

Why do our champion mares not leave champion race horses??
JJ Flash replied to Brodie's topic in Trotting Chat
Raced 7 times for 6 wins and a second. No idea why it was retired. Very valuable horse either way given its breeding and an outstanding performer for its veteran owner /breeder C J Roberts Greg -
Great stuff, its what suits a lot of harness followers. Even managed to make a few quid myself. Greg
-
Can you tell us all what Outside help they received Lloyd. You seem to be insinuating some sort of foul play at work here. Greg
-
Of course you cant disagree . Yes but as you dont own any horses or punt anymore why should anyone bother taking any notice of you. They have not in the past so what makes you think your repetitive campaign on a small social media platform is going to make a hoot of difference. Punters are treated equally on any Pari mutual tote. Fixed odds may see some bets curtailed based on what the respective bookies are holding on the race . If you think the bookies losing all the time on fixed odds is going to increase stakes then you really need to see an electrician and get rewired. Just my thoughts which are completely factual IMHO. Greg

Tell us more, im very interested in your comment. Greg
-
Maybe, but you sure do a lot of repetitive moaning at times? Greg
-
Well done you , your bound to be a popular man. I found the right price for my place pick The Fixer at 2.30 plus bonus multiplier which ended up at 2.484. As they say everyone a winner? Greg
-
Nice to see Belle of Montana win last night ,what a lovely mare and congrats on picking the iD pacing winner.? Greg
-
You will get your wish today at Akaroa and Winton. Greg
-
Thats your rather negative opinion on the matter, which your perfectly entitled to. Judging by the numbers your pretty much alone, in fact i have heard that TAB accounts have seen a new found popularity and enhanced activity in recent times post NZRB. I was somewhat surprised but know from watching friends that they are betting more and a lot of it has to do with the bonus bets promos Greg
-
I should have said how many has MP on his own. The two finals he has won were in partnership and i think she is a fantastic trainer in her own right. Good luck to all the owners of horse in both finals, im sure neither will be a dull event Greg
-
The numbers suggest otherwise Brodie re TB popularity and turnover figures. You clearly dislike the gallops and have blinkers on re their obvious gambling and attendance popularity versus harness. Thats your choice but didn't you say you dont bet now in NZ because of all the historical issues you have with NZTAB so why continue the discussion in terms of the gambling side of things. Or Have you changed codes in terms of betting into the bigger pools? Greg
-
I was not the one labeling some sort of cert and quite clearly Holy Rav saw your original post the same way. I think the bit you dont get in all of this is that Favs dont necessarily win and when the Box seat labels one should we not all be concerned. Has Mark Purdon ever won an interdom final but given he has six runner sin this years event he will probably win it. As i said at the right price i being a value punter prefer The Fixer for a place but by all means you unload on the Sniper at 1.45 and i hope you collect Greg
-
Ive heard a range of answers to that over the years, they: go faster, market themselves better ,its an historical matter as that's where racing/gambling begun etc. Ones professional, the other amateur in many respects. Im sure other posters will have other reasons TB's as a rule , and this is my opinion only, are far better run from a governance perspective, They have better geographical coverage and thus greater consistency in the eyes of punters who to my mind are the key indicator of the success or otherwise of the respective codes. Turnover figures dont lie and TB's are way higher than SB in al respects Greg
-
Quite the opposite IMHO, TB's are going gangbusters globally. Struggling a bit here due to low stakes. Harness sales from here are either Australia or USA for better horses. Compare that to TB's where sales are to: Australia,US UK,and all the Asian nations including China. TB's are simply more popular with fans as its a global sport and its what gamblers like to bet on, look no further than Hong Kong Harness has always been the poor relation of TB's just look at the yearling sales results and its minimal coverage over the country. Not sure that AI has been a great success for the code either given it reduces choice for breeder automatically even though it supposedly lowers breeders costs. Greg
-
Harness racing is in decline globally, its not just at those venues Brodie. its a sunset industry and for it to continue it will need to be subsidised by Sports betting and the Canterbury/Southland operations to give it some semblance of relevancy. Greg
-
Unfortunately The junior being a family member of the owners and usual trainer will continue to drive it for the foreseeable future. Been great reading your posts over the ID's and enjoy your hols Greg
-
So you think Ultimate Sniper is a done deal to win because its 1.45. You may well be right but im not so sure and certainly dont think its any value 1.45. The draws and subsequent runs may well have the biggest bearing on the outcome IMHO i actually like The Fixer for a place despite its ugly draw but want 2.30plus before i would unload Thanks for actually answering our question before the race , it makes a change from some Greg
-
Good to know i not alone in wanting winner before race is run,? As for your challenge to Happy i hope he takes it up. Greg
-
So can you tell us all who you think is going to win the pacers final as its seemingly a done deal as you put it. Given the draw and the nature of the series i am not sure who wins it. Greg
