  1. Thanks alot. My tipping also a slaughter of the day contender it would seem,TAB account agrees.
  2. I tend to agree. Waited far to long to go. Similar to the jockey on Wilydoit in the lead up to the Derby. I didn't back the horse but I will next time. They all make mistakes, we can call them slaughters as long as we don't make it a personal attack on the jockey. Is anyone able to put the stewards report up? I'm tipping they will have questioned the ride, although my tipping didn't go so flash today ,the group 1 2yo saved my arse from a clean out. Enough left to go again tomorrow.
  3. I only watched a few races but I did see the Oaks and Erin Leighton picked a horse paying $19 out of the yard and it ran 2nd just beaten. Must have a reasonable idea. A mate thinks she rides trackwork in matamata so probably worth a few dollars on when she picks matamata horses like Dubai Gold. He took the Quinella. I didnt
  4. I've already answered your question. Do I also think the 2yo group 3 race at sandown was a joke? I replied "yes I do" Not sure how many other ways I can answer it. Australia has far to many stakes races especially for 2yos
  5. Yes I do, just as I believe the first 2 year old races of the season at Randwick when every single horse is having it's first start being a listed race is silly. The Taranaki Cup was a full field of race winners. I found it far from funny as my selection ran 2nd and I backed it on the nose at a good price. I got greedy. Not sure why you are getting so defensive. The group 3 2yo race in New Zealando is clearly poorly placed on the calendar and is a joke
  6. I am not a big fan of odds on betting but the Te Akau 2yo into Wilydoit was a quick investment for a nice night out. They both looked absolute good things on paper if they didn't fall over
  7. It was a maiden with 1 horse that had won. A Joke of a group 3 I agree, but easy for us punters. Was better than bank interest and easy money. Think All Blacks playing in your local competition
  8. Thomass what are your thoughts on "Ladies day" races. I do hope you haven't felt unwelcome and stayed home.
  9. Its seems That Huey bought into a Dud at Te Akau and has never forgiven them and CS has a share and Is looking for a free months training. The back and forth ribbing is providing good entertainment for us reading so keep it going. As long as it stays as it is and doesnt get childish it provides a chuckle for the readers Thanks both of you. I take it all as tongue in cheek.
  10. Surely $$$ has something to do with it too. What would a stable jockey get paid as a retainer? A jockey of Opies quality wouldn't be cheap? Te Akau wouldn't have any trouble getting the best riders in the country/Australia to ride their horses so why bother paying a retainer. I wouldn't think many jockeys would say no when they are asked to ride for the leading stable. Opie will have more freedom to ride what he pleases I'd imagine so it looks like a win win to me. Or do we see Wiremu Pinn taking over as stable rider? Off topic but where are all the karaka million 2yos? Do we see the Tangerine army step out at Te Rapa on saturday? May be worth the drive to watch a great days racing. Take your young ones too, nothing beats a day at the races during summer. Standing up close to the rail is brilliant and makes you appreciate the power of the horse and the skill of the jockeys. Do it in winter and you find out how brave or mad the jumping jockey are. Think my weekend is sorted. Any tips? A good day on the punt and I'll convince the rest of the travelling party racing should be our weekly outing
  11. Australia is a large place. Which news source? A reliable one or a drunk In a pub?
  12. Where was it reported?
  13. Thank you for answering my queries. Great news Terry is ok and reading the stewards reports will help justify my punting losses.
  14. Assuming the worst before knowing the facts and reading the stewards report (I can't either, where do we find it?) is being negative. Not positive anyway. But I agree it's great everyone is ok. Nobody wants to see horses die. I saw 1 fall over deceased at Riccarton yesterday and it was sickening. Makes losing your money not seemy so bad. Any updates on Terry Moseley? He didn't ride again after the incident. Fingers crossed he is ok too.
  15. What a Negative bunch Horses pulled up is a good animal welfare practice I think. not flogging a dead horse so to speak. We would all be complaining if they did that. Berry the Cash didn't even fall. According to the stewards report (According to a friend,i don't know where you read them) All horses left the races alive. Pontadarwes Rider got his leg Tangled in the breastplate after the horse jumped awkward and he was unbalanced. Pulled up because of the danger of riding Tangled in gear. Nothing wrong with the horse. Why not focus on the great finishes to great races instead of bitching and moaning. West Coast is something special. What a star. Never won a race on the flat they tell me but a champion over jumps. Where would he be without jumping races? I For 1 loved watching the races today and found the jumps races very exciting.Well done to all involved.
