  1. 69 years is a short experience?
  2. Yes. See Covid 19 and vaccine risk section #6 here: https://nzdsos.com/ A lot of doctors don't agree with him on Ivermectin.
  3. Heavens. They put that in a note but base the modelling on a pipe dream. There is still a high degree of uncertainty about the effectiveness of vaccines against the Delta variant, particularly for breakthrough infection and subsequent propensity to transmit. Furthermore immunity may wane over time.
  4. Vaccine effectiveness assumptions, as shown in Table 1, are the same as used in [3] with the assumption of no waning immunity. How could they possibly assume no waning immunity! Lowest transmission effectiveness 70% ??? The two decent studies I've read suggest it is closer to zero against delta and who knows against the other 20 letters of the greek alphabet.

  7. Shall I give Tom a ring and offer him a modest profit to let us have her?
  8. 81% of over 16s fully vaccinated.
  9. 89% first dose. 30,000 cases a day and 200 deaths a day. Both rising. Don't think it's working.
  10. Don't think there are any Novavax clinical triallists in NZ so not really a relevant issue. It will either be approved by Medsafe for use here or not. I'm hanging out for it myself.
  11. It's more to reinstate it than boost it I think. Vaccinating children if more are likely to die from the vax than from Covid just doesn't make sense, especially if it's only for a few months protection.
  12. I think the FDA have softened a bit in approving for use in over 65s and vulnerable after originally completely rejecting the booster vax application completely. That seems to be because the higher death rate from Covid in that group makes the risk benefit from the death risk of the vaccine more positive than it is for other groups.

  14. The plan is there. Don't think Brian looked very hard before he went off, though the label is a bit confusing to be fair. A critique of that plan might have been more constructive than the above. https://loveracing.nz/OnHorseFiles/NZTR Statement of Intent and Business Plan 2021-24.pdf
  15. Report of the NZPC 2021.pdf
  16. These 2 will be gone if they don't meet the ratings standard in the current season. 5.10 Warnings Issued G2 Championship Stakes Auckland RC G2 Coupland Bakeries Mile Canterbury RC
  17. 3. The NZPC discussed the current 2yo programme at length and agreed that a sub-committee be formed to examine it and make recommendations to NZTR on any potential changes.
  18. The aim is 5% in a pyramid structure. Lost races due to Covid complicated matters there a bit last year. Given a decline in the number of lower level races run over the last two seasons, the Pattern race percentage will be over 6%. Every country has unique aspects to its racing structure. The NZPC acknowledges that NZ has very few non-tote races and a large number of competitive trials relative to most other jurisdictions. While each NZ Pattern race justifies its status with respect to the APC Ground Rules, the NZPC views the percentage of Pattern races as unacceptably high if confidence in the integrity of NZ black type is to be maintained. Further, the NZPC is concerned that it is constrained from promoting worthy races due to an excessive number of existing Pattern races and that this may lead to a calcification of the Pattern.
  19. There WERE downgrades this year, including the Auckland Cup. 5.2 Downgrades Auckland RC, Auckland Cup - from G1 to G2 – This race has been saved in recent years by the APC distance race downgrade moratorium. As has been the case for a number of years, the race failed to meet its 112 threshold with an outcome of 110.0. This follows earlier ratings of 108.75, 108.75 and 107.75. The NZPC agreed that the race should be downgraded to Group 2 as it continued to perform well below the requirement for a Group 1 race and would be unable to keep its status with the forthcoming expiry of the downgrade moratorium. The NZPC recommended that the race keep its prizemoney, that it revert to being a handicap and that it be given “Heritage 1” status in the event that NZTR supports a heritage handicap structure. Auckland RC, Easter Handicap – from G2 to G3 - This race was under a Warning prior not being run in the 2019/20 season and again failed to achieve the minimum tolerance level by some distance. The 100.5 that the race rated during the 2020/21 season was well below the 107 required by a Group 2 race. The Committee agreed that the race should be downgraded but recommended that it be given “Heritage” status as a handicap and retain its prizemoney in the event that NZTR supports a heritage handicap structure. Racing Rotorua, Rotorua Cup – from G3 to L - This race was under a Warning prior to not being run in the 2019/20 season. The rating of 99.5 was again below the 102 threshold. It was agreed that the race would be downgraded to Listed and that it may be best placed as a heritage handicap with unchanged prizemoney in the event that NZTR supports a heritage handicap structure.
  20. A few historically significant races pointed towards downgrade.

  23. Wasn't good for the hayfever either.
  24. Outside of industry days there are 2 R65 sprints up to 1200m programmed in the CD between mid-September and mid-November, so don't think they have it quite right for tiered racing up here either.
  25. Mmmm.. That sounds very discriminatory to me. I have a long track record as an advocate for childrens' rights but those can not come by diminishing the rights of other groups including other age groups. Give yourself an uppercut for that comment.
