  1. 6.00pm Controversial Viaduct bar visited by positive case The NZ Herald has reported that Headquarters Bar on Auckland’s Viaduct, owned by controversial bar owner Leo Molloy, was visited by a recent positive Covid-19 case on August 14. Molloy confirmed that over 30 staff had been working on the evening in question, and also noted that Headquarters had been equipped with a “sophisticated surveillance system” installed last year. Molloy told The Herald that he was a “believer” in vaccinations, and that when Headquarters reopens in the appropriate alert level, he will not serve anyone who has not been vaccinated. Last year, Molloy made headlines when he planned a 100 person party at Headquarters under level two conditions (max. gatherings of 10 people or less), including guests such as Brian and Hannah Tamaki.
  2. LifelineNZ reported a 25% increase in calls and texts during lockdown last year though they said those were mainly concerns about the impact on relationships and anxiety about money and accommodation as well as increased calls related to self-harm.
  3. Figures for the year through June 21 should be out any day.
  4. Don't think we'll know for a few years. Latest confirmed data is 2017 I think because it can take the coronial inquiries 2-3 years to be completed. Anecdotal reports of increase in suicidality last year. Provisional figures (per 100,00) for the year through June 2020 were well down on the previous 2 years.
  5. What are talking about aquaman? Why would he go to a public testing site for a vaccination? He went to the Pipitea Marae which is a public vaccination centre and booked as soon as his age group became eligible.
  6. The weird thing is that they have rescheduled Tuesday's trials for Thursday. Wonder what drugs they are using? Thursday in 4 weeks might have been reasonable. You can always bring them forward.
  7. Happens every 5 or 10 years when the water table gets real high. Nowhere for it to go.
  8. Last Tuesday Foxton track
  9. Good afternoon, If the Taupo region is in Level 3 than the meeting will proceed. A Mdn 3YO 1200m race ($10,000) will be created out of the Mdn 1200m nominations. All races will be left open until 9am when the decision will be made whether to divide another race or races. There will be two trials run prior to the meeting.
  10. Another high profile one for the list ... https://www.racingnews.co.nz/group-one-winning-trainer-bows-out/
  11. Are you saying those horses clearly didn't handle the going in those runs?
  12. You really wouldn't/couldn't know. Aside from anything else, the programming is insane.
  13. No land grab. The Crown owns the land (Manawatu Racecourse Act 1869). The land (the Awahou Block) was originally granted by Maori for racing use in 1855 and subsequently purchased by the Crown. Anyway, Foxton Beach is still there and when I checked the other day, the caretaker is doing a fantastic job with the tracks and the water walker was also working perfectly. We'll also have an AWT 20 minutes away shortly won't we?
  14. Hard to see how Foxton can stay open if they go and if the AWT comes to Awapuni probably no trial business either. Chrissy Bambry maybe Suzie Gordon the only significant remainders.
  15. Think I read somewhere that David and Emma Haworth are also pulling pin. Programming is atrocious. 2 non-industry day R65 1200s in the CD between mid September and mid-November. How could you warrant putting one back in work?
  16. Just do an OIA request for the dividend calculation for that race then. If it's wrong, then complain.
  17. Centaur, did you consider that the accidental publication of the 4th place dividend may have been after the first three were calculated correctly and therefore stood once the fourth was corrected and removed?
  18. All seems rather too little too late doesn't it? Surely, they should have made the case for these jobs to be on the skills shortage list some time ago if there is such a shortage?
  19. Haha thanks! The comment he referred to had nothing to do with GoJ. I haven't a clue who he or she is even. It was a play on words joke which I think most people got. What the heck it had to do with LJM is beyond me. Perhaps he'll explain.
  20. Amberley RC lost their assets as well in that treachery as well as the Riccarton Turf Club. As far as I know, the Amberley and North Canterbury ownership interests in that track remain the property of those clubs and are on loan to the CJC.
  21. Probably easier to just get wasted yourself and not worry about it.
  22. And an interesting link between the Warriors CEO/NZTR board chair and the manager/agent for quite a number of Warriors including star player Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, no?
  23. Exactly. We do not know if the vaccinated populations are more likely to be engaged with other protective factors such as you mention as well as the basics such as distancing, sanitisation, PPE use etc. No research has partialed eout these things yet. In the worst case there are tubes of Ivermectin in the tack room.
  24. Having just been offered the vaccination I am trying to decide but will at least wait till the FDA makes a decision on approval. There is no doubt a personal and public health benefit of having it because it appears to reduce the risk of hospitilisation and death if you contract it though the quantum of that remains quite debateable. There are also signs in the data and research that it may reduce the risk of contracting it and of transmitting it, though that remains unclear. It's a risk/benefit thing given available information for me I guess. A major stumbling block is that while the short term adverse effects are mostly relatively minor, longer term adverse effects are entirely unknown. The idea that now booster injections are likely necessary (and they are talking 6-12 month intervals) while the adverse effects of the initial jab/s are completely unknown just adds to that concern. Boosters to modify effectiveness against new strains also seem highly likely as you say.
