  1. I just don't get the no irrigation thing. You'd think it would blow away in those conditions or at least redistribute and pile up like sand does.
  2. So it's really a shortfall of more like 600k on average for each of the 16 days at Ellerslie? That's before sport, pokie and overseas racing subsidies?
  3. Surely the 13% is net revenue after expenses?
  4. They could probably just use two hand candles to get it down to the 50 JB.
  5. OK. Thanks. Tough to work out why they would need 50 lights whwn you'd think half a dozen would do. Hard to know without seeing the design/plan though. Does the Cambridge AWT have the same lighting scheme?
  6. It probably has a limited life if we keep running meetings that are losing 300k a day one would think.
  7. Does it? Where did you see that? Irrigation as well?
  8. They are in the NZTR annual reports.
  9. Oh cripes. It gets worse! Please sell up ARC yesterday. Anyone got a mate on the Westland Council to see if we can buy back Hoki?
  10. Probably well below average then by the sound of it. Try punting where you can find the best value and see how that goes.
  11. Oh cripes. That Ellerslie figure is a shocker. FFS sell it up before any more damage is done.
  12. I'm looking for one of those and a trainer with the same attitude.
  13. I agree. Can't see any argument or evidence to suggest that AWT turnover won't be similar to turf turnover for the same level of meeting. Not sure where that idea comes from.
  14. Net revenue numbers. You don't have them cos they just don't exist as mardigras points out.
  15. Don't think so. They probably cost the industry less but as far as I know no clubs or racedays cover their costs anymore from wagering on those meetings, let alone prop up any others.
  16. Originally trained aat Hoki didn't she?
  17. Tarsha Boland/Stokes. May have had other reasons for the move but sensibly after a successful stint there and at Rangiora, gave it away in frustration.
  18. One that I can think of moved to Woodend and has now given up and I think that's what the rest of them did too.
  19. And what happened to the stables and horses that used to be trained on the coast?
  20. Unless of coursw some club and community assets can be stolen to fund the unsustainable for a few more years.
  21. Tesio's model is to keep doing more of what is already not working. We all know where that will lead.
  22. Yes, exactly. The Warehouse, for example, has just closed all their unprofitable stores. On a business basis, racing needs to do likewise. Either scrap them or bring the cost/stakes in line with earnings. Otherwise what we have remains unsustainable.
  23. Those are our biggest losers that we can't afford. We can't keep spending more than we earn to sustain days like that.
  24. Proceed with an unsustainable model and that's exactly what we'll have.
  25. Used to be 15 years ago. We need to get back to that. Start by lowering stakes to align with revenue then sort out tracks, handicapping etc. Let the revenue from sports go to sports and from pokies to the communities providing it. That would make it sustainable.
