  1. Looks like you should be able to work them round the rugby fields? Otherwise, we probably have room for a few more at Foxton.
  2. Good arrangement if you can sort it I'd say.
  3. They are a complete waste of time. Have been for years. They won't answer any questions with any hard data. You may get a free beer and a sausage roll but otherwise you'd be better off staying home and having a snooze on the couch.
  4. He's the CEO. He would only need to have rocked up for trackwork anywhere in the country for one morning to know the answer to that question. It's insane.
  5. That's a fair question. Whar do we do with jumpers that are going for a spell now? Free to a good home?
  6. No Suzy Gordon bought them. Dave still trains there in partnership with daughter Emma but operates from his own property near Levin now.
  7. I'm guessing they'll need an extra 2-3 grand a year per horse in track fees to maintain it, let alone pay for it.
  8. No. It apparently doesn't make sense to race there anymore. Just send 180 horses round at the trials this week and probably similar in a couple of weeks time. I wonder where all those horses will actually race.
  9. There's no suggestion I'm aware of about selling Foxton.
  10. No Foxton is similar. Crown land. http://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/provincial/1869/0003/latest/whole.html
  11. There may have been a window for that at some stage but the CJC are in the racing business, not the land spec/development business, so why would they?
  12. Where to? They'll have to figure out a way to get water to run uphill for that to happen.
  13. They'll need a slick new irrigation system to be able to water it evenly in the summer nor'wests. How much will that cost and is that factored in?
  14. And the surface will blow away in the nor' wester if they don't keep it damp. You may end up with some mulching your garden Freda.
  15. Thanks I see it there now under the 3 dot drop down.
  16. Don't see how you could freehold something you don't own?
  17. http://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/local/1878/0029/latest/whole.html
  18. Have we lost the edit function or is it just me?
  19. Oops.... I meant to add that they'll be lucky if that aannual estimate covers much more than the irrigation costs.
  20. That's consistent with the figures I've seen for maintenance in the US. The likes of Cambridge with several hundred horses using daily it may be more like every 4-5 years for full replacement and top ups are required in between. You also have the cost of daily manual removal of any manure on the surface. I'm bicking Tim's figure is probably 10% or less of the actual maintenance cost. Be interesting to know how that was arrived at.
  21. Seems to have recovered.
