The second start didn't look much better. In the second one slipped on straightening on the outside well clear of any other horse round the 450, so it was not just at the 600. Specsavers is right! What are they doing to ensure it's safe on Tuesday?

Someone needs to bring a criminal proceeding perhaps under the Health and Safety Act against the club, NZTR and the RIU. Aside from sliding the game further into the mire, the idea that animal wellbeing and rider health and safety were blatantly put at risk when there was no necessity is criminal. The track should also be closed until fully relaid, tested and proved safe for racing.

Brilliant bit of data. I'm inclined to measure performance by time but I was a slow learner. I think Thommo does measure performance, but obviously by the colour of the race and probably whether or not the princess deflates during the event.

One way around the information cost recovery that might also appeal to trainers would be to record the jumpouts and make the recordings available on the club website for a fee. That way they could see if there was sufficient demand for cost recovery and if they are as popular as Thommo thinks they will be, then any profit could go toward participant and/or club costs of staging the events.

I don't think that NZ punters are different. Where did I say that? I asked you how you think broadcasting jumpouts will increase punter losses and therefore industry revenue. I'm waiting for an answer. Meanwhile, you keep digging. Oh... and that's a good idea of RMs. Maybe leave the bike pump as well.

Applying an information use charge of 2 per cent of turnover (as suggested by the Working Group) would result in revenue of $5.7 million per annum for racing bets and $1.1 million for sports (after 5 per cent withholding tax). Applying a consumption charge of 2 per cent of turnover to these figures would return $9.8 million to New Zealand (after 5 per cent withholding tax). The Working Group suggested (based on Infometrics’ projections) that annual growth of 11.5 per cent could be expected over the next few years, which would increase the return to around $16.9 million in 2020.

The last time I tried to video a jumpout with my phone most of the vision seemed to be of clouds and grass so you probably should leave me out of assisting.
