  1. Just looked at the fields for Waikato. The meeting should be abandoned as it is not worth running it as it is going to run at a loss for the industry. Good for the owners as very easy to win stake money but FFS, just not worth even looking at as a punting vehicle. Seriously something needs to change in a hurry, but no idea how we can attract new owners to race a horse, when they will be racing for less than what they were racing for last decade!
  2. The costs are just too much for having a horse in work if you want it to pay. Yes most want to race a horse for the fun of it however there has to be a point where it is just not worth it. The Junior ranks are just pathetic and not looking any better. The older trainers will not be going on indefinitely and if you owned a block of land with stables, why wouldn’t you put housing on it if you got it zoned accordingly? Yes things are dire in the north which has been coming for awhile now. Several reasons for it which many of us know what they are!
  3. Racing is in the doldrums big time in the North Island without doubt. There is not going to be enough participants in the next few years as many just drop out! Last one turn out the lights!
  4. Chief, nothing had changed, it was tongue in cheek!
  5. Yeah, will be great to have them back as official trainers! Will be exciting to see the blue and silver stars again winning all the bigger stakes races and paying $1.20!!! Yeah will be good for all the other trainers to be running for 3rd or 4th and the other owners will be happy to have them back officially as well! Harness is on the rise again.
  6. Ludwig, too hot for you??
  7. You wont be allowed to have this nowadays! OSH problems!
  8. To be fair, the AllStar story is not worth the time and effort discussing it. Most know that it was just a beat up and never really happened. The biggest issue is what is happening to Nz, that is being controlled by a person that is so far out of her depth it is ridiculous! Why so many voted her back in when she had clearly showed that she was not capable Of achieving anything is very hard to fathom. Yes maybe she did go ok working in the Fish and Chip shop but is that really worthy of her dictating your life?
  9. Wasn’t really a Sabbatical! As much BS as what Ardern and Bloomfield are talking! When are they coming out and telling us that we have been conned and the country is broke? Sheep wake up. Sorry Karrots havent hijacked the topic, just trying to show that Brodie is once again always on the money.
  10. Simple, you attract back the punters that were there before and they bring people with them etc.etc. Without adults bringing their kids or their mates and friends then harness racing is history ! The TAB think that they are being clever by restricting punters and increasing yield but as I have been saying for years, it has negative consequences which are coming home to roost! As I said before it has spiralled downwards at Addington over the past few years but was accentuated by the Lockdown last year. There is not enough people going now to open up the bars and punting windows upstairs due to the dwindling attendees!
  11. There has to be atmosphere or people will not come back! Unfortunately harness racing has been in a spiral downwards for a few years now and it just has to get the younger generations involved or it will be last one out, turn out the lights! Addington before the first lockdown last year used to still have People turning up to bet and watch the racing! Unfortunately with that many that were going arent bothering anymore and also the Club seems to solely want everyone to be in Spectators. Many of The punters that used to frequent Addington do not bother as there is absolutely no point, as there is no benefit! What I would suggest is for HRNZ to have a word in the NZ TAB’s ear and get them to encourage punters to offload and also to have the limit for having to bloody identify yourself to say $10k. No one in NZ is bothering to money launder on racing at $1K!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Off course he wont be back until it is improved. By turning away participants it is always going to go down hill! Are they listening though?
  13. Karrots, yes we do need to get people back’ oncourse, for thr same of racing! It is just not Auckland, Addington doesnt get many oncourse nowadays, all the regulars just do not go anymore, and there are several reasons for that! Not sure charging people will get people oncourse and do not think that will work! Yes Auckland has got a big population and you would think that they would have heaps turn up at their meetings. The dining is the reason that the crowds are bigger on certain nights rather than the actual racing! To be fair Auckland racing is downright boring compared to Addington so they are battling. Saturday nights would be better to attract crowds rather than Friday however I believe that the clubs just dont want to work on that night. .
  14. Petrol is only going to increase thanks to stupid incoherent Biden!
  15. I dont think I have seen such small fields at Cambridge before! Whether it was the lockdown that horses are not quite ready, if not then North Island harness racing is stuffed.
  16. Yield means buggerall when compared to net profit. Yes good to have a good yield but it is the bottom line that matters! Increase the turnover and the profit will normally be much higher! The NZ TAB have increased the yield on the back of having far less turnover than they could have, their business plan is very flawed! Turn off the punters away from offloading and you lose them from the industry, which reduces owners and also introduction of new people to the racing industry. We are seeing that now but all the Suits at the TAB are interested in is their big fat salaries.
  17. Racing as a young lad was exciting. $1 place was even exciting when your horse paid a div. Used to run a fair way to Addington from home and there was always the turnstiles where the adults had to pay to get in. Next door there was always a man in a write coat ( Not Sunnyside worker) who collected the tickets from the members or guest tickets that did not have to pay. It was free for kids under 18 if accompanied by an adult. Dont think you were meant to be there under 18 unaccompanied. I wasnt 18 when I was going and it was always walk thru the gate quickly and point to the right as if your adult was coming thru the turnstile! Every now and again the old fellah would carch you out but let you in Anyway lol. ahh the great days of exciting racing ! Parents would put the bets on at the TAB agencies then you would go to the course to watch. No fixed odds but some great collects.
  18. Best experiences in harness racing was when I started going out to Addington on a Saturday Night with my mother, full stands and an atmosphere that no longer exists! Manual Tote Board, On Course Doubles, collecting cash at the TAB agencies rather than having to now accept Betting vouchers as they do not have enough cash on hand! Good memories long past, was being offered Fixed Odds by the NZ Bookies at the TAB and being able to wager on horses without being restricted to pathetic low amounts!
  19. I can not see what Michael,Mike or whoever he goes by, apart from what someone else quotes he has said, thank goodness! However, you would think that he wouldve been able to handle Level 4 lockdown better than most, due to his experience? No doubt he will reply because that is all that he can do, with some sort of low level response. Michael, I bet you were a bully at school but you constantly having a crack at people is not very endearing to most! Best you keep your fingers off the keyboard because you have not improved your attitude. Go and do something productive for a change.
  20. Karrots, havent gone to next level with anything! This Michael, Mike, Mikie or whoever continued to harangue Brodie, and pathetic snide worthless posts continued unabated! He doubted what I said so I just responded with what I thought was fair and reasonable! Now this fellah that continued to throw stones and was in a position of trust, did not live up to the position of trust! Instead of pulling his head in and becoming productive, he is a bitter and acting like an imbecile and needs to change his attitude. I hope he gets the treatment he requires!
  21. IifThere will be no punters allowed on courses for a long while if you are only allowed 100 under Comrade Arderns rules! There wont be any room for owners either ! This crap has to stop but no doubt so many will think that we should be very Kind and stay home and be very scared still! Nothing in the South Island community for over 40 weeks but we can not be bloody complacent!
  22. I have blocked the postings of our great citizen Michael which is great, and yet the man still continues to write absolute BS. FFS Michael, Mike, Mikie or whoever you want to be, turnover a new leaf and behave. Ok you did wrong and served your time for it however you would think you would pull your head in and get On wth things. You may not be happy with the way your life has gone in the past!. However having a crack at successful people like Chief and Brodie will achieve nothing. Do not reply, Think about that as I can not Read your shite and that is great. Enjoy Your life Michael and go out and achieve something now you are in level2 plus!
  23. Geez I am glad that Chief made me aware of the opportunity to not see Michael’s postings, as it is a blessing! Michael, block me as well so that you dont need to read any of Brodie’s, as you are an absolute plonker and you clearly have not addressed your issues unfortunately! Go on, just block me and you might possibly be able to get some sleep as the Bars are not allowed to be open!
  24. Shit, has Michael the clown been having a crack at Brodie? I blocked the Dickhead as he hasn't got anything worth replying to or reading, as good as his driving used to be!

I wish they did serve the punters! Quite the opposite I would’ve thought, going by many decisions in recent years.
