It is time the Stewards got serious about both team riding and horses not trying to win because they have richer targets in view

There has been a lot lately and John Oatham needs to act.

John Oatham needs to act?

Be careful what you wish for

Have a look at a Te Rapa race a month or two back -stable apprentice rides furiously to lead at an over fast [ridiculous] pace while stable jockey sits at the rear on the plunge horse and wins

It was blatant in my view but no questions asked, I would appreciate your opinion

What race was it?  I can load it onto BOAY for everyone to look at.

Surely this is one of the advantages of having a big stable of horses at one's disposal.

In my view unless trainers have an ulterior motive in mind they are foolish for running horses against each other for the same prize pool.

It's only a rort if you're not in on it.

How much did it pay...need more clues.

Best be a bit careful -some outfits do not like criticism and lawyer up .

Years ago I had a horse in said stable and still remember the forklift arriving with the bill.

I don't know of any stable that would bother "lawyering up" against a negative opinion expressed by a disgruntled punter.

Although isn't your main concern the lack of action by the Stipes?

I remember an Avondale meeting where Oatham was in charge, before he became Chief stipe.

It was a field day for team riding and rorts in plain sight.

R1 ..a red hot fav, that had placings at all its starts,a favourable barrier ,top jock, good draw, usually on pace...dropped out in a sprint,7 or 8 horse field, stablemate drawn wide ,shot to the lead while the 'unlucky' fav stormed home too late.

The winner became eligible to race in Honkers.

A disgruntled punter? [lol] I seldom have a bet these days other than on my own horses but as you are being rude here is a bit of useless trivia --I once made the largest bet [of its type] ever taken by the N Z Tab -the receipted ticket is held in an Australian private racing museum.

But back to the subject -yes. it is hard to believe the stewards are so blind when one sees so many given a quiet run. perhaps it is a matter of not rocking the boat, just like there was a shortage of jockeys looming recently and suddenly  the usual suspensions dropped to few.

You haven't "said".

I referred to a Stable apprentice and to a Stable jockey -not hard to work out -even young Holi would get it

So you've narrowed it down to a stable that has employed a jockey and an apprentice.
