Yankiwi
Are the trainers starting to "get it"? From a couple of weeks ago. Tuesday 12 November Due to feedback from LPs next Tuesday's Wanganui GRC meeting has been reinstated on the circle track (Hatrick Raceway) NOT the Straight Track. No stir-ups available, required by the rules. No alert for the dogs (lure run-up noise) that the boxes will be opened soon. Just box up the second row (the even #'s) then leave it to the dogs to "guess" when the lids will pop open. Does the inside dog get an advantage when the starter flops his arm around notifying the lure driver that he's ready for the race to begin? The most inside dog has the best chance of seeing the starter waving his arm. Also, the most inside box has no other noise sources between it and the starter. The squeeze point just after the finish line for the catching pen causing many dogs to ease prior to the line. 1

Stops them from hurting themselves reducing the barging of the front of the box.

No its not. Its simply a different lure system with straight track racing. Not a dog safety feature.
