Doomed
You are making a concerted effort to join the so called tight 5 Jess. I wonder if someone else has to be relegated to fit you in or whether it will just be expanded to a tight 6.

I'll remain an independent, (very) occasional contributor 😜 . As I say - I've got the last of my brood in work or close to it, and so the end is nigh. In all likelihood, no-one need stress about having me here banging on or getting up their noses for too much longer 🤣 J.
Assange
2 hours ago, jess said: Yep Chief - that seems to be the plan. Also alludes to what Huey posted. It's starting to feel cartel-like to me - a bit like the supermarket duopoly. I have an image in my mind. If only I was artistic - I would draw a cartoon of a giant spinning thing with all of us industry participants inside it. And as the apparatus gathers speed and spins faster & faster - the centrifugal force spits the small players - trainers, breeders, owners and non-NZB players out of the machine - where they splat against the outer wall and slide down, leaving a smear of blood on the wall & a small crumpled carcass on the floor. Whilst the big players continue to party in the middle - holding their trophies aloft & clinking their champagne glasses. Agree here. Feel the whole thing reeks of elitism. How do the horses bought on Gavelhouse fare. Are they eligible? Not exactly supporting a few mates wanting to race a horse unless you go through some of the bigger syndicators who buy expensive yearlings and take their cut.

I suppose if the horse has gone through a Karaka sale for $500,000 and turned out to be not much good, then goes through gavelhouse for $5,000 it still has a show. I'm not sure if it is a one off payment to be eligible.

Doesn't alter the fact that your contributions are always very welcome- not to mention informative and entertaining. Don't let the fact that you may not have any horses in work or mares in foal stop you posting.

Any reference to perving at the eye candy and /or the spectators at the "grand Tour' days is strictly tongue in cheek Chief. On Karaka Day I was on a walker with 'drip' attached. No ,not the type of Drip who frequent Karaka Days to see the brilliant horses and jockeys but a 'blood drip'.

And Winstone used the early wake up to shovel shit to impress 'non racing 'folk a few years back [ when advancing the Messara report😀 😀 But he used 4am wake up ! Anyone who has met me recently on course knows that is far from the truth. No negative difference toward you Chief......you just banging on to please the 'natives'. It very apparent that in general , Racing chat sites are seen by readers/posters as a chance to complain...to point out an incorrect number on screen , a poor drive / ride . And to generally say aggressive things about other posters. Where else can you speak your mind , try to humiliate other humans and show how clever you are etc etc. You seem OK Chief ...you stuck out a 48 start Harness horse who only won once....you divulged this....so you must be a trooper. And quickly summing me up as a ex-Christ College , Cost accountant etc showed you to be very astute. But I don't know the 'big shots' and 'elite' racing folk...do they even exist ?.......if I have a concern I actually contact the person,President ,CEO personally and they usually always reply or give me time. Otherwise I'd just be banging on Ad infinitum about things which I have no control over .

Used in rugby to describe the engine room /workers in the scrum , it a generic term used in boards, committees on Councils and in Sports Clubs where a group of 4 , 5 or 6 folk basically dominate and control the direction and decision making. They thick as thieves and usually vote the same. Inevitably the others see this and take umbrage and it leads to a stalemate and little can get done. The NZ Racing Conference used to be like this back in the day.....Early on the CD had a lot of say but as things drifted North the clubs simply stuck together and decision making became difficult. Also a reason why Boards etc choose 'new' members who will support the 'tight five'.

Com'on Chief . Those syndicate horses have no control over how the money is spent either. My friend raced a Flemington winner (one of those Dalziel syndicates) but was constantly tearing his hair out about what races it was nominated for, who rode it, how they rode it , etc etc. all the usual stuff. you have no control over how your money is spent. Get a trotter and own it outright . Place it where you like , pick the trainer /driver and have a good time !!😆🏆👍 , even race in Oz 🇦🇺💰
Wingman
Time for you two bickerers to call it a night. A classic 70's American sitcom 'The odd couple' has you paired off nicely. The odd couple were two friends recently separated from their wives and agree to share a NY apartment. Let the sparks begin. One, Felix, aka Chief Stipe, is neat, tidy and loves order. The other, Oscar aka TAB For Ever is messy, crass and will never sweat the small stuff..😇 1

(well it could quieten down with Imperatriz retired now I spose) Tell ya what though , there's a good sneaky chance at Morphettville in the 6th at 20-1 they've sent over there. A Fillies and Mares OPEN and she (the Topweight) is well weighted really against this lot . Space> and has a few panels on some of those locals. Maher stable is on fire lately as well, so 'ExtraTwo' looks hard to beat. one more and we have the Trifecta 😂 💰
