Finally got a reply.

"Thank you for your email and apologies for the delay in getting back to you,

We have received a lot of feedback surrounding the lack of the full screen format and the team are looking into this!

Please bear with us whilst the team look through all the feedback received over the last couple of weeks.

At least you got a reply and they are looking at it. Seem to be more other positive improvements like one click for runner comments, short and full form etc.

It seems to me that a lot of the changes  are on the sports side, for which the sport of baseball there are a couple of nice little tweaks.  You can now bet on so many events for each match,  of course! the majority of those  types of bets are totally on offer for your average dumb punter!

Another thing I'm not keen on is the way that at the top of the page, it always seems to open with the likes of your balance being shown, you have to hide it manually!  With the old system one could click hide and if you wanted to show it then you could click show! Only a small thing but strange that they seem to have taken that option away?

I never watch on PC, I’m not that old.
Mostly watch racing on sky, although have watched odd race on Freeview tv again, so that should excite some.
TAB app works brilliant on IPad, easy to switch channels and gives split screen option. All up, thumbs up, big improvement all around.

Come on, it’s 2024….. easier options to watch races on that the old Dell.

Has Thomarse been silenced? Seems all he does now is add a laffing emoji?? Quite ironic, as he is the biggest clown ever..

I've never got enthused about streaming sport, I do watch the odd race now and then, watch bits and pieces on you tube.

Interestingly the. Viewing numbers for super rugby are up and still TV viewing still miles ahead of streaming, each have their place and sure intime streaming will increase but if they put stuff on TV that's worth watching it will too.

Interestingly how they get their TV ratings is a mystery to me but they stated the most viewed game was on good Friday so I would assume it must be reasonably accurate, be fair to say many who stream probably watch it on TV anyway.

Not every  body can get good internet, some places probably never will, I have on the odd time looked around some of the free streaming places but it seems to lead me to casino sites so I just give up but I'm not fussed, enough free sport on TV for me.

You would hope all the little issues with the app will eventually get sorted, I like the notifications you get before a race.

Nice setup Murray.

Unsure of your age group but if you're a fellow dinosaur you will have seen some huge changes in horse racing coverage over the years....and sports for that matter.

I remember as a young fella listening to the night trots. I'd have to go to a particular part of the house that even including the far king roof of the house. Hold my breath and point my transistor toward Mecca and hope I could hear the end of the race before the National Program drowned out the race. If I wanted a bet I needed to get to the TAB and hour and ten minutes before the race and get my duplicate yellow hand written ticket of my wager.

Now we can bet online right up until the jump and then watch the race. Win and withdraw it online into our bank account.

We've seen all the changes step by step over the decades

I remember being at Uni at Lincoln in the early 80's and Dad having a horse racing at Timaru.  He lived in Brightwater and couldn't get reception so I drove to my Uncles home in Christchurch as he had a phone AND radio. I then phoned Dad and he listened to the commentary on the phone.

Have done the same Chief. Back in the days dinosaurs roamed the Earth I remember ringing home from the UK in the early hours to hear a race my horse had his debut in. Toll operator listened with me.

Funny you should mention Brightwater. Been three times this week. Have family and a mate living there and always enjoy the drive out. Richmond getting harder to get in and out of if you're in a hurry. The eatery / Cafe on McShane Road "The Grape Escape" well worth the drive if you're heading out toward Rabbit Island or Mapua etc.

Haha, on the roof, thats dedication right there.
My local in the early 80s was the Edgeware TAB. Saw a guy in the car park one night listening to Radio Pacific, had some contraption that had a timber flat base, then had a timber frame around, with wires wrapped around with some sort of tuning dial. Not sure if it worked too well or not, but sucked me into buying one🤭
Anyone remember, or got a pic?

We lived in Starveall Street.  Had my 21st in the Brightwater Hall with entertainment provided by the Waikatu Variety Band.

Only a stones throw from Waimea West where I used to help jog McShanes Road namesake McShane.

Dedication / addiction / madness :)

I remember thinking it was like Christmas when Radio Pacific arrived. A dedicated racing station that didn't treat racing like an inconvenience.

Know the area well Chief. Next to Centennial Park with the Brightwater Hall nearby. Very good spot for a 21st.

I know your connection to McShane. The best trotter to come out of Nelson. The best pacer was Single Lord so both with BJ.

I can never drive on McShane Road without thinking of McShane and his deeds. Brother lives on Pugh Road heading in the opposite direction.

Not sure the last time you were in Richmond but it has undergone big changes especially in housing / population.

Chesapeake was a handy trotter too.

I had one of them radio booster things, either bought it out of Turf Digest of Truth also putting radio up against post and wire fe ce worked, wasn't always convenient uf you going to town to take the fence with you lol but the wee device did work. That would have been the mid 80s.

Strangely in today's day and age we have so much available with the internet but still moan sometimes.

All the oldies like the radio, lots of youngans probably don't know what a AM radio is.

She was a beauty for Noel Berkett the father in law of Murray Pash. Noel also trained Lady Eastburn to win a few races. It's a shame Chesapeake didn't leave anything of note.

Berkett use to have a big team, Hutt Park must have been a great track for him, good racing, not too much travel.

So they were advertised to buy? Didn’t  know that, thought it was someone local who came up with radio booster, if anyone has one a picture be great.

initially, Radio Pacific didn’t broadcast in Christchurch, at night you could listen sometimes, during day harder.
3ZB would broadcast most races, always a chance they would interrupt during race with news😆😆, also 4zb listening to Forbury.
