NZ Cup -what chance Monarch Chimes

Can a horse better known over fences win this tomorrow? Here's my case for Monarch Chimes.

Stays all day, good jock, no weight. Goes Ok on Good3 ground ( 0 wins but 2 placings from 3 starts).

In form on the flat .beat some highly regarded stayers home when 2nd at Ellerslie over 2400m recently.

The opposition is not particukarly strong ...  a shame when you consider the mighty heritage of this iconic race.

Good value each way at $21 FO

It certainly fits the BP of residual fitness over the sticks mixed with flat racing...

...some great prices this season...Im sure you'll get better odds menyarna...

...and there's rain about tonight to suit...all the best wea wee

thanks TTT ...rain not required if you check his form on good going... carrying no weight, fit as a fiddlee-dee..just a matter of how fast they go..the stronger the tempo the better his chances

An absolute farce - a poor field, no top liners and a dawdle of a procession. Nothing off the pace could do it though Felaar came home good.

Very poor field of second and third tier ponies - such is the state if our racing - very sick

update...

MC had no chance at that tempo...great front-running ride by Sam Spratt but those other jocks let her do it again...should all be fined for being asleep on the job

I’ve noticed since the introduction of speed maps a lot of these races are run at a pedestrian tempo a lot of these jockeys are versed on where they should be in the running basically these races are mapped out they are to scared or to stupid to use their initiative

You will hear a lot saying there is a track bias where in actual fact a lot of these races are run that slowly it’s just a sit and sprint

Not only in NZ but over here in Aus as well
