A worry for who?

Obviously the NZ Racing Industry. If Entain is getting that much action from NZ on their online casinos sites it has to be a huge amount of money going offshore to a lot of other online sites. Younger people get attracted to the online casino sites because its a lot easier to push a button to bet on the slots than coming to grips with how to work out race form. Often I will be in a dairy or gas station and young people come in to purchase a paysafe voucher which is then used to load their online casino accounts. I think online NZ casino slot playing is way higher than what people think.

Maybe that's one way Entain is paying for Stakes.

So will geo blocking make it impossible to play online?

I think the idea is to ban all gambling on overseas sites, only Lotto and TAB.

Hardly going to bring in Geo Blocking…. How will overseas punters punt on Entain casino? Can’t have it both ways

They can do that from their own juridictions can't they?

Will never go ahead. If they stop nz punters gambling overseas, why not stop those buying online? Where will it stop

It does not apply to offshore gambling operators to the extent that they provide wagering options for ‘sports and racing’ to New Zealand residents. The profits generated from such services will continue to be subject to ‘point of consumption charges’ of 10% (which are payable in addition to GST and product fees).

So, essentially no difference as far as race betting with off shore operators is concerned.
