WTF are you on about now?  Then again what would you expect from someone who finds good competitive racing on a good track in winter "BORING"!

Note they irrigated yesterday.

Any winners come from behind there CS, or just the usual boring Ruakaka stuff?

You've told us about your trainer 'contact' before Chief...and his views on Ruakaka.

Plus you usually add the bus that comes from Whangarei and the Annual punters comp held where entries come from the various bars/pubs which sponsor the Club and the comp. Clearly you like Ruakaka.

He likes sitting in traffic there and back he can but some Leonard Cohen on and really grin from ear to ear all the way there and back.

What puzzles me though is being "TA biggest fanboy ever" the Chief isn't singing the praises of their favourite provincial hang out Taupo.

Whats up with that CS?

What's your point?  I see there is a put 30 black type win and places horses going around at a mid-week meeting there on Wednesday.  Seems Te Akau isn't the only stable that likes the track.

So what is actually puzzling you?

Not boring if you manage to 'find' the ones that get to the finish first! :)

Punting wise, neither of Saturdays tracks are ones I bet on very much at all.  Both have to bigger 'local knowledge, bias' for my liking.   sadly, yet again, Rain! the bane of horse and punter, wins out on the day!

Perhaps but you can factor that into your value finding strategy.

Obviously if some trainers from further South could see more consistent race dates at Ruakaka and set up satellite stables then the locals might not be so dominant.

Interesting that some Cambridge trainers think the same thing.  Not surprisingly when it costs a $1,200 return float fee from the Waikato to Ruakaka.

I almost never touch NP,  do try and watch any black type there, more for gleaning insights for upcoming G1's

I actually have a strong win rate at Ruakaka!  Though, I recon I would bet into 1 out of a 100 races..  I actually like the small sized fields as well.

Will the field for this years version of their G race stack up? Interesting that TAK only had one start. Happy to have keep my power dry! :)

I think it will.  A couple of horses in that field that didn't handle the track and also will strengthen.

I haven't touched New Plymouth since a very very big collect oncourse when my horse won the Taranaki Cup.  Soon after that I asked Hayden Tinsley (a very good Jockey) to rank the best tracks in the Central Districts.   He put New Plymouth at the bottom.

Can anyone explain why the races there have a stake of only 15300 and the two 3yos 37600?

personally: I have a bit of form with a recently retired player from there...

back in a day, via being a good mate with a senior rider there, over the likes of xmas, there was often a nice cherry to be had..  I live in hope re the A town track...

I've walked it three times since the upgrade...I don't have much confidence that it will play safe, fair and even.  So you might be onto something regarding inside knowledge.

Its because they are as thick as pig shit and they have converted $NZ to $aus for reasons known only to them.

I can never understand why they feel the need to keep converting $NZ and $Aus. Surely punters know if they are betting on an NZ race the stake is in NZ dollars and an Australian race is in Australian dollars? And why does it matter anyhow?

I'm sure there are some punters who look at the form guides for Aussie races on a Saturday and wonder why the Aussies always race for strange stakes. They aren't actually racing for $219,000, they are racing for $A200,000. For some reason Entain and the NZ TAB before them thought NZ punters were fascinated to know what that Aussie stake would be if converted to NZ dollars. It's all beyond me.
