Kopia
Is this publication funded to any degree by the racing industry..? Reason I'm wondering, more and more of the on-line content is blocked unless your'e paying a subscrition...it costs nearly $10 a week for a hard copy issue. Some of the articles being published look very interesting and topical, love to read them but the old finances don'tstretch to paying the going rate. I think Dennis Ryan should think about letting the more topical articles to be read by all.
The Informant
Hi Kopia, The Informant is a completely independent and privately owned publication. Neither the codes nor the NZRB provide funding for the publication of editorial we provide on a weekly basis. This means our subscriptions are a key part of our funding from our many loyal readers amongst the racing industry. The Informant now has more in-house racing journalists than any other organisation or media platform in New Zealand, at a time when publishers are slashing journalism we are investing in it. Appreciate your desire to get behind our paywall and get stuck into our weekly content (this week is full of some must reads) and our digital subscription is less than $5 a week. Send me an email and I will set you up with a trial subscription over the xmas period in the spirit of the festive season and hopefully come January you will be enticed enough to sign up. Cheers, Matthew Francis matthew@racingmedia.co.nz PS Any other free or online users will soon have a similar offer in their inbox as we roll out some subscription promos in the coming month. Thats much appreciated, thanks. I was thinking that if NZTR had any financial input then it should be free, at least the online version. They charge $125 just to amend the ownership of a horse F.F.S....
Huey
I have been a critic of its one sided (imo) reporting regarding the M Report. However for $10 it is well worth purchasing as it has the best form guide, horses to follow, the layout is improving, some great breeding articles and is building some interesting content . Couple that with the inconsistency of the Best Bets and there isn't anything better in NZ.

"Hear hear" couldn't agree with you more , not to mention mare return etc an absolute rip off in today's day and age when it could all be quite easily done online. Yes all the returns that NZTR require could be done online very easily...the only reason that they ( NZTR ) haven't pursued that avenue is....$$$$$$$..and in my opinion the TAB should be paying a fee to the owner every time a horse starts in a race...jeeze we supply their 'product' for punters to bet on! Might make all the charges to race a horse a little bit more palatable?
SLB2.0
I was lucky enough to get my start writing for The Informant. We copped a lot of criticism, mostly from Leo Molloy, so I won't say anything negative about the company, especially what they've gone through. Newmarket
I have looked at it, but not worth $10 a week to me. With so much form on line, its a hard sell

That's a few jobs back and we lied about being a jockey, haha. I only provide tips for Australian racing, for websites in Aussie, NZ and Europe.
