But I guess it NZ's first galloping slot race...Big Dave was the slot holder for the Te Akau synd horse ,therefore he was the 'owner' for that race...hence he the winning owner as well as running the syndicate that owns the horse ! He seems to be a huge contributor to NZ racing ! Track was great and some excellent races. Nothing I saw yesterday has changed my mind about the NZB Kiwi though. The hype and nonsense over the race is beyond cringe (smashing golden eggs at the barrier draw FFS) and I'm yet to see any real impact its had on anything but the same crowd of syndicators, breeders and trainers. This won't end the way you think it will TAB4eva, this is NZracing after all.
SLB2.0
How about the Pegasus World Cup? That started at $1 million entry, then $500,000 two years later, and now the slot aspect has been pulled entirely. The Everest gets away with it because their promotional team is much better, and it's a race the general public gets excited about. The Kiwi? Yeah, nah.

Ellis owns the slot AND the horse. Which one of the 20+ owners would you want to join him? Perhaps the Syndicate Manager? That would have made a nice picture

They're the ones that put the money up for the sweepstake. The owners negotiate how much of the pie they get. Easier if you are negotiating with yourself of course.
