Ray Murrihy called in to latest Alligator Blood saga

Ray Murrihy will chair the latest inquiry into Alligator Blood’s 2020 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas victory.

The most respected figure in Australian racing integrity will oversee the latest chapter into the long running Alligator Blood saga, after Queensland officials opened a third inquiry into the matter.

It can be revealed former New South Wales chief steward Ray Murrihy has been called up by the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission to chair the new inquiry into his failed swab from the 2020 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, which was won by Alligator Blood.

Sitting alongside Murrihy will be former Victorian chief stipe Robert Cram and longtime QRIC steward Kym Daly as officials work to put the matter to bed.

The matter will not be heard until next year however, with QRIC opting to wait for the outcome of a February 28 court date, where Alligator Blood's former owner Allan Endresz is seeking an injunction to stop the new inquiry.

Endresz, who has been banned from owning horses in many states in Australia, labelled the latest inquiry a farce, saying he offered Queensland officials a settlement, despite being confident of victory.

"It is a complete and utter waste of everybody's time and taxpayer money," Endresz said.

"I am gobsmacked that they have the audacity to have a crack at my background when they put these blokes in to run these inquiries.

"It is beyond belief, I am very confident we will win on the 28th and it will be game over."

The former QRIC regime, lead by former commissioner Shane Gillard, convened a second inquiry following a Supreme Court victory from Endresz over an owners right to be heard earlier this year, however it was over before it began.

Under the new leadership of Catherine Clark and former Hong Kong chief steward Kim Kelly, QRIC last week opened a new inquiry with Murrihy and Cram.

"What we wanted was a panel that is removed from previous panels that have dealt with matters involving the horse," Kelly said.

"We arrived on the view that some interstate participation would aid in having the matter resolved in a timely manner."

Endresz and his legal team will argue the panel is unable to prove the validity of the horse's urine sample from the race after what was left of the "A" sample was revealed to be unreliable because of a power outage where the samples are kept after it was initially analysed and had a test report issued.

Not surprising that Endresz, is debating a swab validity lol. that's just chicken feed to him.

He would be thinking a race-horse swab should be easy to overturn , based on his history of fighting things in court.

He has fought court battles for years over company directorships, embezzelments and assorted things to do with taxes, an received long bans from company directorship, Bankrupcy issues to clear debt and Government has been chasing him for years , He keeps the large bulk of assets hidden in trust funds to keep himself afloat and gambling away his 'gains' from his failed share market enterprises .

Here's just a snippet of his past from the financial review.  (Some people have No respect for laws/rules/swabs 🙄)

Endresz, 54, has spent a sizeable portion of his adult life under banning orders obtained by ASIC. He was born in Sydney after his father Jozsef emigrated from Hungary. The family moved to Albury, from where the young Endresz carved out a career as a corporate gadfly in the 1980s, on the edge of deals with Alan Bond, Joe Gutnick and John Elliott.

He's not a shy man. He speaks volubly of the great injustices done to him, dating all the way back to 1990, when the ASX suspended his Emu Hill Gold Mines NL after he launched a bizarre $7.5 million rights issue, half of which would go into a lottery with $3.75 million paid as prizes to 12 lucky shareholders. He called it Emu Lotto.

Three years later Endresz made history as the first Australian to be convicted of market manipulation, for ramping the share price of Emu Hill (now renamed CTC Resources NL) before it was delisted.

That wasn't the question though

looking from a different tack, over in AU, back in a day, Big Labour Dispute, V Learned QC, he could pick which Judge via what dates He was available! and did so on this case, a choice of 30 J's he picked X and won the case, trading on X's 'bias'.

With Racing (especially so here in NZ) here historically its been We are Always right! and we will change rules to prove that! and No Appeals if We say so!

That wasn't the question though.  Would you say Murrihy was the most respected Stipe in OZ?  I'm not sure those caught up in the Cobalt Saga wouldn't entirely agree.

Stipes are like magistrates  Chief 🤣. they all make a decision based on the 'evidence' provided in front of them and penalize you accordingly . they all do the same thing and you just have to Respect their decision/verdict.

The evidence of wrongdoing is obvious on videos (races and that most of the time) but they still have to deal with those sort of people that don't believe they have things like 'positive swabs' , (nor ride outside the rules in a race , etc) , and rules should be applied to them differently because they are that 'special'.

someone just needs to tell Endresz that a positive swab is a Positive swab. he's not that special that he can hide that like he does a lot of his other stuff .

Murrihy is the same as any other stipe. just doing his job. respect his decision rightly or wrongly. Lawyers in the Law courts are laughable at times , as lie their butts off for their clients benifit. It's all about the money.

Stipes are more reputable in my opinion (than lawyers) as base their decisions Solely on the evidence provided .

Yes but the issue with Murrihy just like the INCA Saga is the time it takes to resolve things.  He, like many Stipes, take the "War of Attrition" approach.

Alligator Bloods Magic Millions race was over four years ago nearly 5.

As the Old maxim goes:

Justice delayed is justice denied.
