Huey Posted March 30 Posted March 30 A race at Egmont on Friday. I thought 2yos were only allowed to max race 1600m ? How would one get a 2yo ready for such an event? Have I missed 2yo stating races? MDN 2YO&UP 2100m - $18,500 Quote
Chief Stipe Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Obviously a mistake. Unless Dummy Myers had something lined up. Quote
Doomed Posted March 30 Posted March 30 I have hardly ever seen a 2yo line up in a 2yo and older race in NZ. They do it often in Australia. Quote

Dark Beau Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Chief Stipe, get down to NZTR and sort them out as you know it all so it seems. You could take Leggy too as he well refer to this report or that report and be able to support you. 1 Quote

Pitty got them rolling when on the programme committee to make up for the lack of two year old races, and to some degree they have helped. Didn't T.J line Imagele up in an Open Flying Hcp as a youngster? Or is my memory not serving me well..! Edited March 30 by Freda Quote

But I imagine @Huey has already done that plus NZTR have read his post by now...or perhaps in another hour when they lift the shutters for the day. Quote

Some may have to start using them as there were ballots in the last Riccarton 2yo race who didn't get a start and there won't be many other opportunities for those horses, which must be frustrating. 1 Quote

Chief Stipe Posted March 30 Posted March 30 I do have some sympathy for them. George spent $2.5m on a computer system that didn't deliver much if anything. So they probably rely on the knowledge of staff to get it right and I imagine that some don't know all the nuances of the rules. Quote
