mikeynz Posted May 28 Posted May 28 No one mentioned only 4 races today, I hope that's not because no one even knew they were on , that would be a worrying sign for racing in NZ. 1 Quote

Following the running of Race 4, all riders raised concerns regarding the presence of surface water on the track as a result of heavy rainfall. The wet conditions were significantly impacting visibility and posed safety risks for horses and riders. In response, a Track Safety Review was convened comprising the Stipendiary Stewards, Club Officials, the Track Manager, and all riders. After thorough discussion and on the basis of unanimous agreement among the riders, it was determined that the track conditions were unsafe for racing to continue. Accordingly, the Stewards made the decision to abandon the remainder of the meeting in the interest of rider safety and welfare. Quote

Yeah...I didn't take any notice either, a sobering thought! Was the weather bad leading up to the day? or did the rain come later? If the latter, then of course, the right decision. But if the former, why on earth take chances... Quote

Exactly my thoughts. Gardening. household duties until late in the day etc. Nothing special to watch until maybe a few races later in day at Eagle Farm, so sat down to watch, but all in vein. Winter racing! Says it all doesn’t it. Hopefully Awapuni will be all go next Sunday when I have my next runner. 1 Quote
