Not sure why there are shortfalls? Weren’t we told recently on Trackside that everything was going well with harness racing? Puzzling indeed? 1 Quote
Brodie Posted yesterday at 08:17 AM Posted yesterday at 08:17 AM Still a bit puzzled? When was it discovered that there is now a funding shortage, just recently? If there is now some sort of funding shortage, why has this suddenly come about, there seemed to be so much money about, that they could give all sorts of bonuses and large stakes? If there has suddenly now been realised that there is a funding shortage, then are we now wondering whether they can actually afford to fund the extra $1,050,000 thats right $1.05 million, above the normal funding for 4 SLOT RACES next season??? With David Branch not being at Cambridge, does anyone know who is the person who is going to be selling the SLOTS for the 2 Cambridge races? 1 Quote

Branch is likely going to contract back to the Club to help execute the Night Of Champions. Unsure if that includes slot distribution. Quote

These were new dates over and over existing budgets, and were always dependent on certain funding levels being reached. I can only assume hey have not. One would haven to ask, in this situation, why the new Auckland dates weren't removed as those require the most funding for the least return. 2 Quote

But the point being made was house and jones horses did not meet the criteira for the series of being based with a southland trainer since 1 july. that house has previously shown horses he has sent to southland as being located at t dewes training establishment, which is not what is occuring now that the southern surge has come around. so it appears that both house and jones have changed the way its recorded ,to meet the criteria to be eligible for the southern surge. also you seem to be saying mark jones also has lways had a registered training base in invercargill.Did mark jones know that? So why aren't the likes of the telfers shown as traing from winton when they go south. After all, they have a lot more horses race in southland than mark jones does. so are we to see house having registered training establishments at palmerston north? I am saying, all this came about because the southern people, according to what it had on a hrnz story, unfairly excluded trainers who regularly supported their meetings in the first place. All I can offer is this - the mkves are within the rules of the series and HRNZ regulations. None of them are world beaters and at least some have been in the Southland horse pool recently (but I accept a could like Blazing Knuckles have not). Edited yesterday at 12:12 PM by Spatchcock Quote

Was just reading with only one meet in the North through June weekly and 2 fortnightly, some common sense there, 12 races on Friday nights at Auckland, why not one Friday night meeting, and Nelson get their 2 days in June back, maybe tieing in with Blenhiem, just a thought....Oamaru took over Forburys date in january and have another before Xmas, the real problem club is Kapiti, last January they were on a hiding to nothing racing same day as Blenhiem, I thought it was stupid , turned out it was. Southland stay the same, don't need anymore. Canterbury have plenty but whether they subsidise northern racing, that's up for debate. Edited 15 hours ago by mikeynz Quote
