Will be interesting to see if meeting goes ahead tomorrow, Canterbury has a severe Red Wind Warning, winds up to 150kmh. 
 

I did some great study for the meeting too, in fact for the first time ever, i will invest on all of M House runners, think all a good chance at good odds.

Well race 8 about to start, a little bit gusty but had it far worse here. 
 

Once again, leaders bias bigtime, some of these drivers are happy enough to watch those dawdling up front….

Watched that There you go last start, thought it went a good, considering it sat parked the trip, didn't even see it in today, until it was in front, 101 fixed thought a very good divvy, fixed never seem to work in my favour, took miss onaki at gore 27s at lunch time, so got my bet on as not to forget while at work, she closed at 40s plus

As per usual, was a great day at Motukarara….. but really the club needs to renovate toilets behind food caravans. Far too small cubicles, but for a small amount of money the insides can be altered, have less amount of loos, will give more room, they are bloody disgusting. If they cant afford it, run some raffles or something….i would buy. 
 

Anyway, that is the only negative, Chief will be happy about that. 
After i got home, i looked up a couple of horses i followed on HRNZ….. while scrolling i found this field from Oct 1984…. Wow that is a great field compared to what raced today, although Oscar today was the highlight, super win.

Just to add… Stortford Lodge was disqualified from 2nd… only to be reinstated at a later date. Something that never happens now…

that was what racing is all about and is what you can get when you have races run over staying distances.

what helped make it such an enthralling contest was the tactics of john dunn.

If we were being honest,they were very odd.its very rare to see a driver,in a long distance race, pour the pace on with 1400m to go,then go again and  try to slip them with 700m to go.it was a valiant performance by i dream of jeannie to still be holding onto 2nd with 50m to go after being stuffed with 300m to run.

when they run races at such spped so far frm hone,its always surprising how advanyaged being on the inside is. Horses like cody banner and paige beat some very nice open class horses but taking advantage of the inside runs when the pace was at its hottest..

its rare to see people clapping as a horse comes down the straight,but your saw that yesterday. I can remember watching i can doosit win that race a few years ago. He didn't win it like oscar bonevena did, He won more on guts that brilliance that day,but his too was a memorable win for those who attended. I can doosit's will to win carried him through that day. Theres something about those really good horses that is great to watch. 

i wonder how oscar bonevenas progeny go. Purdon trained horses haven't  tended to be as successful at stud as one may have expected,but oscar bonevena has the speed factor which may help him . time will tell. he seems very fairly priced at $2500.
