Gammalite Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Well you could give it to Grimson ( like when he got Swayzee off the Tim Butt stable ) and any number of other horses Jason Grimson got to do form reversals. Or now we have the Queensland version. give it to A trainer you haven't heard of yet in Mitchell Dawson. (brother of leading driver Nathan Dawson) give your horse to him. Mitchell is getting a few old has-beens to 'Go Forth and Multiple' as the old saying goes, and is racking up some extraordinary performances lately. NZ bred gelding BOLD MEDLEY JUJON takes the cake lately as the Dawson Star Improver. Racing on our Slow Thursdays in QLD , when the 1.56 to 2.00 mile horses strutt their stuff . Bold Medley Jujon , a recent arrival at the Mitchell Dawson stable ZoooooMMMMed away in a 1.50 mile by 15 lengths from the field for a gob-smacking win . Quite something !. as The horse had been raced for 3 years at the Leading stable of Grant Dixon , with very average results. Grant had started the horse 24 times this year for 2 Wins , both in 1.58 mile rate at Redcliffe. The horse couldn't get warm at Albion Park. Come the 23rd October though , and one week after leaving Dixons, picked up by Mitch Dawson, he's thundering away from the field in blazing fashion , 26 seconds out of the gate, then 26.3 seconds down the back straight to give the field the slip , and cruise in by half the length of the straight, still powering along alone. Slow Thursdays are Not what they used to be 🤣. wonder if Grant feels like a 'poor' trainer now after seeing that lol 😎. Grant could get back behind Larry (LeapToFame) and feel better anyway. Although he would be 'flat out' to go that fast as what BOLD Medley JUjon can now go lol. Quote

Thats my opinion gamma. You've always been a dixon fan and followed his horses closely,so i assume that is part of what you respect and admire about him. 1 Quote

He is very honest. even with 3 millionaires as his owners. in contrast (Leading trainer Pete McMullen gets heaps of Imports for his 3 millionaire owners worth Big bucks) one of Dixon's owners Greg Mitchell , does buy a few from NZ for him .some lovely old NZ horses. especially trotters over the years. Currently racing 'Zealous Spur' to fair results but had the 62 win 'Our Overanova' who trotted to record number of wins here over the best part of a decade. When trotters were not very Big at all here. sometimes race 10 on the card was the trot, after everyone had gone home , and he would start off 50m near midnight lol. What a great old NZ horse he was. Greg had picked him up after eight 3 yearold starts in NZ. where someone there did a great job getting him going as a youngster. OVERANOVA a fine credit to the NZ trotters list of greats. 1 Quote
Gammalite Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 meanwhile Tu Tangata keeps taking the punters dollars in NZ. Race 4 running now as favourite ??? what How did they send that out favourite yet again in New Zealand.? must of taken so many punters for a bath the last year it's a wonder he hasn't been run out of the country. sell it off to some poor Ozzie bugger. so old RACHMANINOV at 10 years old, trots to a 2nd place yesterday , then backs up and wins Wins today . Good on the old Boy !! well driven by young Robbie Close too. 3 Quote

paleface adios Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Good on Trevor grant what lovely old horse reminds me of old war horses cinnamon junior and Trotter regal flyer Quote

Just uses fast horses ? lol. The Mitchell Dawson 'show' continued last night with his 3 runners right on the money. But How do you beat a trainer going 1.50 miles with Country class horses ? ANSWER/ bring in the BIG Guns 😎 . Race 1 last night at Albion 'Leader' Peter quite happy to hand up the lead a lap out 🤣😉, to the flying 1.50 improved wonderhorse 'BOLD MEDLEY JUJON' . and peels off it's back in the home straight and takes him down in 1.49.3 . low flying. there was 10 lengths back to the others. Pete McMullen confirms how good he is training with NZ three year old FERNCO NEL to a blistering 1.49.3. These aren't even Metro class horse yet ?? 😂. this was a 'Qualifying race' to get them into Metro class racing (for the better prizemoney) Fastest Quallies every run in history I think. only a 3 year-old too. near track record. 1.49.3 !! good grief that was 3 seconds faster than the FFA later in the evening. FOOTNOTE : straight after in race 2 the ex-pat NZer young trainer Trent Lethaby from Canterbury won race 2 , narrowly defeated another 'Miracle Mitch Dawson trained improver 'BIGGER THE BETTOR' who could only win One maiden in NZ at Manawatu in about 20 starts. BIGGER THE BETTOR winning 5 of 13 here and 5 narrow 2nds in 1.53 last night. is jumping out of the ground now , after those dark NZ days. Trent Lethaby's girlfriend is Pete McMullens young sister Taleah . so She steered the NZ bred horse 'Tremendous Sensation' brilliantly to knock off the Mitch Dawson horse. well done Taleah ! Mitch got some revenge for his 2 narrow Second placings , getting his "Much Improved' mare ZAHRA LOU , to win the Mares Quallie at the end of the night in very quick time by 4 lengths. (1.52.7 the same as the FFA lol ) Go Mitch !! 1 Quote

Pick an average performing Bettors Delight horse running on slow poorly maintained NZ tracks. That can run a good sectional. Correct the issues and like good whiskey they get better with age. But don't let me get in the way of you feeding @the galah 's PED conspiracy. Quote

Come on Chief . you Know there's more to it than 'Bloodlines' . Grimson got a very poor performing NZ Bettor's Delight named Betterzippit from NZ a couple of years, back then promptly won 5 out of 6 including 1/2 million in one go on a tight foreign WA track . once his magic wore off the horse couuldn't get didley squat. Has won 4 races having around Mildura and obscure places like that this year with a mug trainer these days lol. Grimson's Offsider , the NZer Jack Trainor is STIll out DQed with 2 positives. That sounds like RED flag time Chief lol. Grimson has had to behave himself and quite a few horses form fell off the board accordingly. As far as Mitchell Dawson 'Instant' improvement goes , I never mentioned PED. I reckon I know what he's done but can't put here as like you say , theres' No Proof. But the results are astonishing to say the least. Bold Medley Jujon now a potential FFAer ?? 🤣🤣 after 3 years of battling Redcliffe and that with Dixon ( a pretty handy trainer) . 😂 . Love it. Is currently' Improving and winning with a horse that the brilliant Emma Stewart got nothing out of too lol. Mitch the 'Magician' . All's fair in love and war . No red flags lol. 1 Quote

From what I'm told she found the horses pulling carts quite fascinating. 1 Quote

I did see the race , and very embarrassed to say was putting Churchillian in as my Comp picks in the forums . And rightly got a good slap in the face from 'Captured By Love' for doing so lol. 😁' she's a beauty. meanwhile Bold Medley Jujon at least got a little Slap in the face for trying to run 1.50 again too last Sat. 🤣 The Champion Pete mcMullen slapped him with a 1.49.3 to put him back to 2nd place . FFA speed. Pete McMullen is in Christchurch today Chief with GUS in the Big trot today. I Hope for the Win too. Getting trotting going here in Queensland was part of my life accomplishments i'm very very proud of. GUS has a big job to try and down the best trotters of New Zealand , but give him some 'McShane' vibes for an upset . and we'll be smiling. Quote
