Here in Dunedin , via ODT,  there must have been 30/50 full page advs. asking  people to open accounts,  etc.  I presume some of the update was via that sort of thing!  

It would be interesting actual #'s that the 'new' accounts bet?

It's a critical KPI. We know that you can't significantly increase punter spend from existing customers, and the advertising spend as you say, along with the new platform, improved product etc. has to work, especially since to date, the online monopoly doesn't appear to have had much impact.

I know many people who open accounts on Melbourne cup day…they deposit and get the free bonus cash…. spend on Cup, maybe with family members or syndicates, do their cash but dont bother to authenticate account, so closes. 
 

Also, ACTIVE accounts is a joke. Talked to many people cup week, most got huge giveaways or free bets in accounts, some never used for months, surprise, surprise the heavens opened in Nov….😆

Attached below are screenshots of some of the promos i got Cup Week from Betcha, other mates received too… had a few more deposit deals too Oct & Nov, didnt get text or email with some, just appeared in acc, example deposit $200 get $200 Bonus Bets… makes sense with timing now, Entain would be trying to get as many non gambling account holders to punt, and getting us much cash out of us all….then publish these numbers😂. None of us have had any offers since Cup week

I know of 5 friends and family members that used the deposit and sign up cash…. but wont go to TAB to get authentication sorted as all lost on Mel Cup,

Brilliant - they inflate dividends and help fund racing at the same time!  By the way you have to authenticate your account to get the bonus cash so I think you might be a bit confused.

Depends what you define as "ACTIVE".  I know people who are seasonal with their wagering.  They don't bet late autumn through to early spring.  Be through Spring until about now end of November.  Stop -t hen start again late Summer through to mid autumn.  

That aside I would consider an acount active that bet during the OZ and NZ spring carnivals but not at any other time.

You don't have to go to the TAB to authenticate.  To get the sign up bonus you HAVE to authenticate.  That might be delayed if you decide to do the hard copy documents process of authentication.  

Well that was the process I experienced with the first time BETCHA sign up.

Where was that? I only saw where 7000 existing customers had their first bet on racing. Vouris said that in the Guerin interview. Never saw mention of increased new account numbers.

I thought they defined active account as one that been operated in the last 12 months?

Yes signing up to Betcha if you already have verified TAB account was easy. 
But if you dont have Drivers Licence, or if you have never used Realmein… will still need to go to TAB to verify

I always thought previous TAB accounts dropped off after 12 months non activity…. maybe they dont now, send punters a free bet instead every 6 months, so accounts still stay open, looks better on their balance sheet

I doubt they ever dropped them completely even when data storage was significantly more expensive than it is today.  I image they also had AML requirements to retain all the details of an account.  They may after a certain time flag them inactive.  The data is useful as you pointed out for future promotions.  Also the data is useful if someone is playing the system.  

An account can be open but inactive.  I remember always keeping a $1 in my account so I could stream the races!!!

I am slightly surprise how there hasn't seemed to be much mentioning around the Cost of Living Crisis that so many are going through! the actual available disposable income has so shrunk for the bottom 60%, talking over the last 40 years!  This decline is never mention much in racing discussions, not par for the course! (Tempted to mention @Huey Mafia mates! or certain peoples who have made Large donations to...)

Talking about betting and encouraging younger punters to get involved with racing!   

To 98% I would (and Do!) suggest  stay away, other than nickel and dimes amusing bets! Spend what  you would on cleaning your car a month! Reason being the Take out rates are vulgar!  Way to much NOISE/Propaganda, way to much to learn...

Sports, lots of noise, but if you find a sport that you have some genuine insight into, then there is real potential there for grinding out a Profit!  For me it use to be NZ Rugby, but now 100% Baseball.  
But gee, to make a profit! I have found I have had to be Very Cunning! and to milk a couple of great results via Bonus bets! lol! After the last big win via that I have Not received even one bonus offer!  If one was actually trying to make a living then that has just got so much more difficult now that a monopoly has been locked in.

You can’t make a living out of them unless you can live on less than $200 a week and sometimes they’ll cut you before that. Helps if you have a big family but it’s very hard work. To be fair it was the same before the monopoly but that’s one of the reasons we went offshore. What’s the point of bringing in a monopoly to get back punters you don’t want
