Malted might be erring on the side of caution here Aqua, I'm not defending Weir either, I followed the Inca fiasco, although that's not over, apparently, but Malted might be pissed off about the people charged with other offences in Melbourne that escaped because the stewards stuffed up by using non accredited labs, and b sample bullshit.....at least this mob with the Fed Police involved will be more thorough....perhaps you are right, if so Weir will receive massive compensation, however Smerdon walked away re the Aquanita disgrace, and Weir has stated he wont defend the charges? Thats' the problem, would you defend a charge if you knew you were innocent? I reckon you would.......we will learn a lot more later today.

IF you know you are guilty, you might admit guilt to get a lighter sentence; you may also be hoping that no other skeletons are found in your closet and can eventually resume your career.

This whole Weir saga is starting to look like our operation Inca. And we all know where that is heading, acquittal on all racing related matters. This involved and is an operation by the NZ Police, who outrank and override every other entity.... they have been building a case for sometime.. Therefore their investigation is ongoing. See the parallels here Milkshake.  This whole saga with Weir will end up the same way, unless they come up with new damning new evidence. If all they end up with is some stable hands cocaine stash, Weirs fathers pop gun used for pests and rodents, and 4 jiggers found in a locked safe, then I am afraid it will be seen for what it is. A rabid media frothing at the mouth with fake news. This appears to be a witch hunt.

Simple conclusion Darren Weir was railroaded

Here is some facts the Aussie press don't mention.

When the police "raided" they did it in a flare of publicity only trouble it was all rubbish.

The famous video's and photo's of jiggers being used or other dodgy goings on was just a bluff or ruse typically employed by police to get the suspect talking. The stewards have admitted there are no photos or videos but don't expect the Aussie press talking about that.

So instead of talking the baffled Darren Weir suddenly clams up. Why? Obviously he believed someone in his organization was really misbehaving so why say anything at that stage. Immediately he is slapped with a refusing to talk charge.

Everything points to someone in the Police using the excuse of monitoring phone calls as a way to hopefully get racing tips. When asked to wrap up the investigation they latch on the gun and cocaine found as a means to justify all the spying going on. What other explanation can there be. Strange how the stewards aren't interested in the gun or cocaine finds. The stewards and racing authorities are also the victims. They are trying their hardest to show they are trying to keep racing clean. Trouble is they are misguided.

I'm firmly of the belief Centaur you are in fact Dr Herriott from the Neutered Mongrel site, you have to be........just have to.

I’m not going to enter into this any further...as I have eluded to, there is more to hit the fan in due course...the AFP have been building this case since August 2017.

To be fair your police force, sorry...service, are incompetent, that’s why there have been so many fit ups.

So let’s just see where this goes because today in only the first round.

Centaur, this is my last post on this........I just can't cop it anymore.........the Stewards have said, they don't have any, the police have said they don't have any.......at this time!........leaving themselves an escape cause for later......it was THE FEDERAL POLICE that put the surveillance camera's in there......and they must have released ONE image at the request of the stewards so they could question Weir.....OK.......bye now, see you on another thread.

Last time I heard the jiggers were discovered in a safe. So I presume a safe in the master bedroom.

AS a matter of interest what source has got the MASTER bedroom bit?

The Centaur are you saying(1) the possession of jiggers is common place in Aussie racing and (2) there is nothing necessarily sinister in Weir having three of them.

If either answer is yes can you tell what reason they would have other than an illegal attempt to improve a horse's performance? And please don't suggest the master bedroom thing is a clue because in that case why would you need three?

I would say in answer to your question re the jiggers, yes, yes, and to the third, not to improve performance, but rather manners. Reason for four, who knows, maybe the fact that there is about 600 horses involved, maybe some spares, could of been package deal. Who cares, very minor stuff thus far. No animal cruelty, no drugging horses, no rigging races, no failing or refusing to co operate, only heaps of hype from the media, and stupid people that believe everything they are served up. This is rapidly turning into a farce, but you can expect this when you have the corrupt Australian Police involved. Clearly a witch hunt.

The legal pros put a lot of weight into the word "intent".

There has not been any proof Weir has ever used a jigger. Just by having them in his bedroom could mean he is making triply sure no one can use them. How they came to be there is anybody's guess. Some employee may have brought them onto the property and Weir has confiscated them. Having a gun doesn't mean the intent is to kill someone although it could be.

Same with the jiggers its impossible to speculate what the intent was of having them put away in the master bedroom. I hardly think he would have ordered them from ebay.

OK thank you Chimbu.....here is his rap sheet for all to see...and people still want to defend him?

If ever there was proof of what goes round, comes round...or as I say, where there’s smoke, there’s fire...

And the most disappointing aspect this week? The syndicators had to be embarrassed into removing their horses...yeah, good look ....

Typical sermon from a prick in a suit who prides himself in taking away the livelihood of a legend of the game. It's not only Weir who is rubbed out, he probably takes 500 or more owners, punters, friends etc. with him.

The bull prodder (jigger) has been in use since time immemorial and if the authorities are going to destroy the career of one man, why not target all users of the common cattle prodder ???

1. As far as I am concerned you can throw the book at any person involved in racing in any jurisdiction who uses any sort of electrical device to correct behaviour or to frighten a horse into an improved performance. I don't care if they are a legend or a battler.

2. I don't care about his friends or the punters (who should be pleased that the game may be played on a more even/honest playing field) without him

3. The owners still have choices - the horses who underwent the 'treatment'  didn't have that luxury

4. I do feel for any staff member who has been oblivious to what may have occurred, but suspect many have stayed quiet through financial necessity or the risk to their future career prospects if they spoke out.

In a mess like this there will always be victims.  The 'suit' didn't create them, the perpetrator did. Did he worry about what might happen to innocent parties if the house of cards fell down. Ah, no, I don't believe he did.

Mostly speculation. No proof.

Having an unsafe car can be cruel to other motorists potentially causing death. The culprit isn't going to have his unique much acclaimed multi million dollar business destroyed and be deprived of a livelihood.

So, if it is all speculation and he has a reputation, a big business and his future livelihood to protect why choose to plead, No Contest'? Why instruct or take the advice of your legal team to agree to a four year ban if you are innocent of any wrongdoing? With his means, a protracted legal battle could have ensued and chances are if he was truly innocent he would have been found not guilty,  or,  even if found guilty with mitigating circumstances a much lesser penalty may have been able to be negotiated.

As previously discussed there just has to be a reason why he has rolled over so meekly and one day it will become clear.

Btw, the car analogy is a bloody long bow, IMO
