Then what does it cost?  If it was than $30 they might make a profit.

The fees used to be on the fields, maybe some time ago as I can't find one with that information now.  I have a feeling they are around the $90 mark, and $70 for Levin based trainers.

So 140 x $30 × 12 is "doing more than well"?  No wonder so many Clubs can't look after their assets.

There are other services required for jumpouts, not all are voluntarily run.  These include ambulance, vet, horse ambulance, starter and barrier attendants, tractor driver, secretary, cafeteria staff, birdcage attendant, heat timer and results, gap gate and crossing raker, field marshaller and brand checker.

Did I read somewhere that Levin were selling the property across the road from the track?

Why?  How much maintenance at another track do you think that would fund?

If the LRC is required to sell as they are a surplus venue, would that not include all real estate owned by the club?

That's a good question but the real estate that is not part of the racetrack is hardly a surplus racing venue is it?

You should just stop here @Chief Stipe you're just so out of touch with the industry its laughable , im still reeling from $30 jumpouts claim!

I realise this is completely off track wrt Levin,   but Riccartons jumpouts are $30.

Is "subsidised" the right word for revenue being received by Otaki?  The course rental seems standard, agreed by both parties, and no doubt reviewed on a regular basis.

If Otaki is not making enough profit to maintain their assets long term then arguably Levin is being subsidised i.e. they are not paying enough rental.  I believe Levin threatened to take their meeting elsewhere at one stage.

Which presumably are covered by the fees charged.  But it appears the fee is not enough to cover costs.

The assets and activities of the Club have been acquired and funded under an Incorporated "not-for-profit" Society and Charitable Trusts for the purposes of Racing.

It would be a difficult case to prove that any realised gains from the sale of the assets shouldn't go to racing.

Realised gains being distributed to members is not a legal option and the only other option is it goes to the Crown.

That said the 3 Charitable Trusts controlled by the Incorporated Society were no doubt set up to complicate things.

Yet you don't seem to have any idea.

I'm waiting for @Huey to call you "out of touch with racing".

I  don't think there is any argument that the track is not owned by the club and therefore subject to the surplus venue processes, should it be deemed "surplus".

Why then did Levin spend a lot of money with lawyers setting up the current structure?

Why does there appear in the accounts to be a large ongoing administration fee?

Well one  of the trusts is to operate the track and another to manage the development adjoining which if I'm not mistaken is on club owned land. What is the admin fee?

Rangiora and Riccarton are in Canterbury.

The more searching question you could have asked was - "Do the Riccarton and Rangiora jumpouts have barrier attendants, cleark of the course and an ambulance in attendance?"  Catering being an optional extra.

You didn't answer the question regarding the complex Trust and IC setup.  If the "adjoining development" is owner by the LRC why does it require a separate entity to manage?

Rangiora has neither of the latter two and the barrier attendants and starter are volunteer
