Happy Sunrise
It is a massive read but very interesting to go through all the precedents. Maybe it is a sign of things to come in Operation Inca. Seems like he had a good run punting! Also shows they can track your bets pretty carefully...be wary Brodie...they are watching you. I just can't understand why these drivers etc don't get a mate to bet for them and take away the chances of getting caught. Surely it isn't that hard. http://www.jca.org.nz/non-race-day-hearings/non-raceday-inquiry-riu-v-s-lawson

LongOwner
RIU are again behaving like spoilt children! Everyone got a hearing and ruling made by far more qualified persons than Mormon lookalikes who strut around like peacocks . Marsara says get rid of them but by not accepting the decision it is making certain we don’t need the report as they will self implode. To show how useless they are they run off to NZPolice again who hand the file back . They cannot do there job ! Also RIU stop appealing every call that goes against you - little cry babies ! Brodie
Simon Lawson stated that he had a gambling problem and was receiving counselling? Are drivers allowed to bet on harness racing if they aren’t driving in a race or a trainer of a horse in a race?

JCA decision not on line yet but have been reliably informed that he has now been disqualified rather than suspended - taking effect as of Saturday 11 May.
Rangatira
i think the unnamed writer is being a bit naive when they suggest "It is our belief the RIU appealed the original decision to have the term extended just to make Simon Lawson a scapegoat." Yes I agree. A scapegoat for what?
Happy Sunrise
If he gets 2 and a half years for a 50 each way bet, the ones on race-fixing charges now, if guilty, won't be allowed back in their lifetime or the next.

John curtin wrote it. Typical sort of opinion piece from him. riu have bigger fish to fry so Lawson not the scapegoat just setting the standard.

No I didn’t say or imply that! What I said was that from what I have heard, from my line of thinking, no races were fixed! Tactics and intentions but not fixed! I haven’t got the evidence so who knows? This long winded delay to everything is doing no good for the harness industry!

Feel sorry for the charged ones, having it going on for so damn long! Why on earth does our so-called justice system need all this time to bring out the evidence and find out whether there is any truth to the charges FFS!
