Protests.

Over many years the way the TAB / broadcasters have informed punters about the details of a protest has been a frustrating pet hate of mine. Obviously a protest impacts on punters in potentially negative or positive ways so there is generally considerable interest yet the way we are informed is piss poor to say the least.

I recall as a young fella prior to Radio Pacific listening to RNZ hoping they would pass on details of a protest on the previous race but they rarely did. The usual scenario was listening to shite on the wireless hoping the radio studio presenter would mention there was a protest but they seldom did. Only when they crossed over to the race caller for the next race you may get some crumbs of information. You'd ring the TAB and ask them if they could tell you what the protest was about and they usually had no far king idea. Could never understand this as the result of a protest is potentially every bit as important as the result of a photo finish.

Now we have a new TAB website and I can see how far we've come in this area over the last 40 years. Same shit, different day,year,decade. Still can't tell you there is a protest on the site let alone what runners the protest concerns. At some point it would be magnificent if someone within the TAB organization was able to put some priority on providing this important basic information with updates as they unfold.  

On the score of protests and in the name of interest and transparency / integrity, I'd like to see a Trackside camera in the room for every protest. Allow us to see it all unfolding. Could be even more interesting and entertaining than what unfolded on the track. Who performs well in the room. Who fails.  Who gets favoured treatment. Why the inconsistencies etc etc. I appreciate the ones making the decisions are a protected species but as the saying goes, Justice should not only be done, it should be seen to be done.  No hope I know. One of the reasons being of course is that the three minute coverage in the room is not an earner for Trackside and they could fit two greyhound races from Wallomazoo in that time. 

I see the Waimate trots are on today. Looks a beautiful day there for grass track harness. Little surprised that champion local driver Craig Kennett has no drives. Would have expected owners and trainers from far afield to seek Craig's magnificent skills. I heard that he's a sewer executive these days. When asked about this Craig said he's part of a crew that removes shit from the sewer walls. He confirmed he scraps the shit off the sewer walls into a bucket and then passes that bucket to the next person in the chain until it's removed from the sewer. When asked how that made him a "sewer executive" Craig proudly stated he does not take shit from anyone.

That can't be true Rangitira. He informed me that in his prime, he was a superior reinsman to the Maestro Maurice Holmes OBE, Peter Wolfenden MBE and Gavin Lang.

What I've been unable to ascertain however is when Craig's prime was. Perhaps he was a misunderstood genius....but then again, perhaps he was just the Wanking Wally of Waimate.

He was the dipstick that reckoned I hated the game because I reckoned it wasn't always % 100 straight.  Telling him that I had raced pacers,  that  good mates were in official positions working at Alex Park , and even that I'd heard stories about old days  from a few of   drivers themselves made not an iota of difference. 

He reckoned the game was cleaner than Fong Lee's  laundry.

FRM messaged me to arrange it's removal. He also suggested anymore and retaliation with possibly you and a few others named for good measure.

I'm trying to get him not to carry that out.

He's a piece of work but in reality, a large bag of piss and wind. He's threatened numerous people on multiple websites over many years. Anyone who has the audacity to stand up to his bullshit know exactly who he is and what he's about.

I suggest everyone clam down especially HTP. Less shit from the likes of a few behind the scenes who have issues with FTM and Scoobie might be a very smart move in both the short and long term

Funny how the 2 biggest offenders cry the loudest! JJ trys to play the victim then does the same thing to Joe Kidd in his next post! I remember when ftm put your name out there, and dug around for everyone else's personal details...... still have all his p.ms he sent to Scooby and others.....so hopefully they have learnt a lesson that it's not a nice thing to do, and now time to give it a rest.

Basil is gone. JJ Flash is gone, even though his original post on this thread seems like a genuine contribution. 

The harness site originally welcomed any poster, especially from RC, the open arms policy worked well and everybody got along. To simply blame 'darksiders' for the crap currently going on here at the moment is erroneous in my opinion. 

My purpose for posting on here is to discuss harness racing and I presume that would apply to nearly all of us but it seems very lost at the moment but I imagine some would even disagree with that.

Happy I certainly appreciate where your coming from, but just go back through some of JJ s posts, he certainly dug up our names to be devisive and then plays the Saint, to the people he did that to, it is a bit  unnerving ..he telegraphed what he was like by attacking everyone from you, Newmarket, hesi, htp, Brodie, myself, etc long before he joined this site and long after we had all left r.c, I remember a mocking post he directed at me when we did our tips one night and pretty much as as usual mine didn't come in!  But no one on here does that to anyone that puts their bollocks on the line....

As for Basil, it's his choice if he can't accept other people's opinions and chooses to leave, even you were disappointed in his reaction......if we all reacted like that everyday no one would get out of bed.

Now I have got that off my chest you are right, let's get back to discussing harness racing, but there will always be difference of opinions we just have to respectfully navigate through it.?

All that may well be true but the pack mentality in response is turning this site into RC of old. 

Just need to rise above it all and ignore it or people don't feel welcome to post. There won't be any new posters and the ones who are not caught up with the feud won't post either

I can actually see the day both BOAY and RC harness sections are nearly extinct because of this feud. Your right, but it is very hard not to try and defend yourself or your mates when attacked or your personal info is doxed, if it's not happening to you, you don't notice it as much. Anyway let's move on and get back to that happy place we were once in!
