Ronaldo
Hear from reliable sources that Avondale is now off the close down list, well a three year reprieve at least That gives them 3 more years to get some action plan in place, and seeing the club has a fair few well known lawyers in it's ranks , they should be able to come up with something. However assumed this was the jewel in the crown in regard to funding all the other plans and was first on the list to get the chop . It seems we are going to be getting nowhere fast. I don't know much about the law but hear there is no legal way to grab the course as long as the club isn't insolvent. Buckle in, it's going to be an interesting ride. Chief Stipe
Still provides a better racing surface than Ellerslie with stuff all industry funding.

Avondale was fantastic today, has anyone heard Auckland may be having some problems with grass on new track ?

Yep, race 4 today was fantastic. 4 late scr & a false start due to a huge fark up. The facilities are a dog, the track has the worst front runner bias in NZ & THE RACING IS A BORE from there. So damn sad that a facility like that represents NZ racing in our major city.
Ronaldo
That could have happened anywhere, you can't blame the club for that farce. Talking to some trainers today who couldn't have been more complimentary about the track, comparing it with say Te Rapa which they reckoned was a downright bloody disgrace. Reckoned they would rather race there over winter than pay $ 600 to float to Ruakaka from likes of Te Awamutu and than that is boring as batshit when one stable dominates in numbers and wins. It did have a front runners bias today as Mike Brown pointed out to us after an early race so we adjusted accordingly. Only horse that went against the pattern was Copper Fox, thank God. There was a large crowd and everyone seemed happy. The facilities are okay if you use trainer's or member's stands which are open to everyone, the main stand is a bloody eyesore though. SLB2.0
I saw only a few races and they were all dominated by the leader. Was that a theme of the day? If so, it makes it tough to have any confidence as a punter.

Shame where Avondale is heading - once was and still has the potential to be ten times the racing surface of Ellerslie.

Listen up young fella -Avondale was once a sea of mud and Ellerslie well drained and quite o k.-now reversed Avondale , like all big tracks, suits frontrunners [think Craddock !] Avondale costs around $700k per annum, they survive by rents received. I'm not that young Freda....but how long has it been reversed? 15 or 20 years? I'd say at least 15.
