TC why do you think the members are high school age? I can't see any evidence of that? Given you are not familiar with Facebook by your own admission I think your comment is coming from a lack of understanding of how the platform works.

If you want to understand how a facebook page gains 8,500 members so quickly when compared to say a specialised industry forum, consider the fact that contestants on reality TV shows can gain 100k followers in one night. Welcome to 2018 and social media.

Horseboy,

I am intrigued by the definition of "members". Now I surf the internet a bit and here and there need to register to participate and do it with facebook user/password automatically. No way would I call myself a member of the particular organization although follower perhaps yes.

Its very convenient with one click as opposed filling out a specific form then confirming the registration via email and actually participating in some way.

I use the term members because that is the term used by Facebook and users when dealing with a closed (private) Facebook group like BGP.

Centaur - the facebook page began in 2011. It had a few members back then. It grew slowly at first and maybe had 1000 members 2 years ago. Then as momentum grew it was about 6000 at the start of this year and now sits over 8000. Again best get your facts right before spouting off.

I see BGP is getting a mention on Racecafe. Effectively both BGP and Racecafe are online communities. Isn't it ironic to see how one is impacting the industry for the greater good and the other hasn't done much if anything in years and years. I wonder why?

Yes I've seen the Ladbrokes references on BGP.  I don't think that stops Allen or anyone else being associated with this group.

His job surely is to make sure the NZ TAB is getting something out of them - they get on course - race horses and bet as much as possible in NZ. And to get ideas how to expand on what this group is doing and engage with a generation who currently don't think about racing as an option ?

Absolutely agree.

This crowd is showing the silly old pale stale males who’ve been trying ( really badly ) to run the clubs, and NZTR, how to reach out to and embrace fresh young blood........should’ve happened years ago....I joined their FB page today and if I can I’ll be subsiding their activities any time they’re in AK.

They sound like a laugh to be with, and when’s the last time you saw anyone involved with administration laughing at the races ?

I note they’ve registered colours, well here’s my first offer, every time one of the BGP boys says FUCK on Trackside I’ll give you a $500 bar tab.....and if you mention Headquarters Viaduct in the same interview I’ll double it ( but you can’t speak badly of HQ in any way shape or form, and you certainly can’t say fuck HQ !! )

Go team BGL....let rip and give this game, and the stupid old farts in charge, a bloody good shake.

It is funny, the only mates he has now, are the ones that suck up for a discounted meal?.

I notice the person that started this thread only had a couple of posts before, what does that tell you? Yep, scoobs making up more mock accounts, amazes me how he remembers them all!

Mind you, he had to do something, nothing was happening.

Self promotion.  I know some wise old farts that haven't been listened to.  Perhaps BOAY should start a Old B's Get Paid.  The B being gender neutral.

There are probably a lot of very wise, supposed pale, stale males in the Racing industry.

New ideas and new young blood are great, but don't demean and denigrate the many that have come before, who by the very fact that they have built the industry over many years, must be old

A nice blend of youth and experience is best

Agree. This constant playing the ageist card is pathetic. Racing has something for everyone regardless of age, gender, perceived status etc etc. There is a place for the high fashion adherents as well as the average joe blo's. There is no conflict only in the minds of small minded child like bores who never graduated from the school playground where the teacher is enemy number one.

Please BGP, stay away from the guy. It will end in tears.

How come this guy has to use the F word? Come on, he’s not a teenager, grow up. No need for it on these sites.

Absolutely agree.  Im a follower of BGP and the day they have anything commercially to do with Molloy is the day they sell themselves to the devil.   What a complete prat inciting them to say the F word on air to promote his crap hole excuse of a restaurant.   As you say Newmarket, grow up you twat, just because you are the size of the average 12 year old doesnt mean you have to act like one.

  • 3 weeks later...

These boys and girls are the future...

...a shame they've named it after the 'blokey' set... essentially excluding hot classy women like Emms...

GGP....Girls get paid...after the boys get laid should be the next club...

BvG is always a good game...

Unfortunately Kemeys has had a sniff of the Rosehill races last week and posted how well looked after Arstralian Punters are.

Who knew?

Meanwhile the Kiwi punter can't even get an accurate track report..

4M max readings...when they're winning on the outside rail...FFS

Oh f...did they lower themselves already??

Actually the awful chariots will suit these boys...

They love the 'shorts' and there's plenty of boring shorts in this so called sport...

This after a trip to Rosehill and all they've got to offer in the way of absolutely superb punting information..

...Kemeys was blown away by it...I'm surprised he's not already living there actually

Arstralia really is the true place for a young person to experience life and to grow..
