globederby12
Yep, go the Blue rug alright. This could seal a breeding career for him if he can win, or at least give American breeders some food for thought. He has the drop on Mckwicked draw wise so if he can get to the front and peel off some quick sectionals he might just go close. I hope so.

The two times Mcwicked's beaten Lazarus have been when either Laz (i) was sick or (ii) had a much harder run. So this should be Laz's race to lose. The counter-view is that he's been sick again... Filibuster Hanover could be the giant-killer.
Happy Sunrise
Lazarus. Must be sick? Off the charts bad run by Lazarus.
Brodie
Yes certainly was very poor! Unless he starts winning them in a row, I can see him being exported back to NZ like I said several months ago! He is not going to be very commercial in the United States by the way he is going at the moment. There will be a reason for his poor performance hopefully?

He was scratched a couple of weeks ago due to coughing for a few days. If he were human, I would say after moving away from home, being in a new and pressure cooked environment with big expectations, getting sick, racing more than ever, travelling heaps, I would say he has hit the wall. Be interesting to know what comes out. My bet is he is run down.

You know that 3 year old maiden horse that starts against the best 3 year olds in the NZ Derby and drops out a long way from home..... 1
Happy Sunrise
There is no news to be found on the internet or twitter about Lazarus so I will be presumptuous and say he just ran badly. If he were in trouble, the news would be spreading as fast as a breaking race fixing scandal. ?

Very poor, no fight at all must be something amiss, having said that I really don't think the usa style of racing is his bag...The owners would have had a great time watching him dominate here for the next few years and then a healthy stud fee to boot!
Happy Sunrise
From the informant. Not your best work, Garrick. Respect what you do enormously but it would be great to know exactly what has happened rather than speculation. It was so uncharacteristic considering Lazarus ran so well a few starts back when under the weather. There seems to be no information anywhere about what happened. All concentrating on McWicked which is fair enough. LAZARUS AMISS IN BREEDERS CROWN FINAL There was no taking anything away from McWicked, who was a brilliant winner of the US$430,000 Breeders Crown Open Final at Pocono Downs in Pennsylvania on Saturday night (local time). But there is bound to be fallout from the dismal last-placed effort of New Zealand-bred champion Lazarus, who led, trailed and then faded out to finish a long last in the race.No information was immediately available, but at the best-case scenario appears to be him still suffering the effects of the virus that plagued him a month ago.The race commentator pulled no punches at the finish of what was being billed as the ‘rubber match’ between the dominant aged male pacers in North America recently.“This rivalry was decided decisively tonight in 1.49.3,” noted Jim Beviglia.
