How did the terms 'in the van' and 'to the chair' come about?

the chair, I guess refers to (death) seat...just the word chair replaces  seat.........and "in the van" doesn't make sense to me, i always think of the gaurds van on a train but that was always the very last carriage!

So I suppose Brodie is in the van in his crusade against the TAB and Rangatira is in the van in his crusade against Brodie.

I just wonder how much petrol is left in the tank before the 'vans' run out.

that's a bit of a red herring happy

Red Herring was a distant second after sitting in the death chair outside 'the Anchovy' in the van on Flame Lady. Whip, blinds and plugs untouched.
