SLB2.0
I'm not a trainer (or a jockey) but I can't understand why Probabeel lined up in the Oaks and not the Coolmore. The Oaks is a race for grinding stayers that very rarely kick on with it - recently anyway. Probabeel is a 1600-2000 horse and no further. Combine that with the heavy track and it makes for awful viewing. Yet, punters were backing her.

Is that just silly Kiwi patriotism as part of the rah rah...?
Happy Sunrise
Geez the lockdown must be getting to me as I am posting on the gallops site. At least they run on grass which I like.
Newmarket
Went poorly, thought melody belle poor as well. Should have finished closer with the run it had
SLB2.0
When did Probabeel ever show staying ability? She battled over 2000 when beaten by Shout the Bar, which was having its fourth career start. Meanwhile, Collete doesn't have the ability to win against the 1400-1600m types, which is why it was aimed at the Oaks. A real head scratcher and I hope she comes back next season a better horse, but a run like that won't do her any good.

I think Probabeel has that Zabeel quirk where they don't like soft/heavy sticky ground.
Weasel
You cant blame connections for having a throw at the stumps...she was aimed at the Oaks because its the Oaks and makes her an extremely valuable broodmare in due course if she wins it. Probabeel has been up for a long time -raced through the spring, summer and ow autumn over incr longer and harder assignments culminating in yesterday's Classic on a wet track - bookies woulda luved her and Funstar yesterday, the two 'hotpots' of the season more vulnerable as the season goes on.
