Gee Brodie we have been down this line before

The government has been great they locked us down for 4 weeks added a few days and you cant understand that

I thought we were going to get longer

So what are you wanting to do Brodie you want to go have a bet or something

Mehe, don’t intend to get into any to and frying as just can’t be bothered.

Yes we needed to be locked down, but the govt. was slow in locking down the borders.

They have made many mistakes and couldve done things better including the way the wage subsidy was rushed thru without a lot of thought.

Hospitals should’ve been doing surgeries now rather than having surgeons twiddling their thumbs!

We should’ve been allowed to go to open spaces outside rather than being coupled up as more chance of catching the virus from affected people inside.

Reality is that there has been about 1500 positives including probables and really no deaths caused by the virus to anyone without any underlying conditions and old age!!!!

You can be a sheep if you want and go with the flow and believe everything, personally I like to think about things!

Anyway, just hope things go good after we are out of home detention but I believe the cure of being locked up will be far worse than the disease!!!

Anyway, Ozzie trots on !

Gee Brodie very low for even you to come up with that un called for and I hope you come up with a  bit of apology

Was not meant to be insulting Mehe!

The point is that elective surgery has been put on hold and people who need surgeries are in limbo, because the government says so!!!

There is not going to suddenly be all these people being wheeled into the hospital wards for Covid19, therefore this government should’ve given the hospitals the all clear to operate on people that deserve them.

With respect, I don’t believe that most of the country should be suffering emotionally or financially because we have 15 people from Rest Homes catching the virus and dying when the nurses have been told to keep them comfortable but don’t resuscitate.

I can assure you that there are many people that die each and every week in rest homes without Covid19.

Anyway, I hope your wee operation goes just fine next week?

Prey tell us why horses can not be fast worked at the moment?

If someone wants to,work their horse at any speed they like, why can’t they by now.

They are hardly likely to be spreading any virus to anyone!

If it was the fact that all these trainers and drivers if they weren’t hurt, would put pressure on the hospital, then that is just BS!

Hospitals are barely half full and nurses and doctors have never been so quiet!!!!!

Hospitals are barely half full? 12 people stretching the health system in this pandemic suggests zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! sorry fell asleep! boredom and overreaction and stupidity will kill me before covid 19 does!

Seems as if Brodie been reading false news

In fact, just as a broken watch is right twice a day, Brodie is more or less correct on this one (after taking out the histrionics).

The original OU modeling work, predicting 9000-14000 deaths, was based on an assumption that individuals would do *nothing* to protect themselves, e.g., no washing of hands, no avoiding crowds etc etc. A useful academic benchmark, but hardly relevant to any sensible policy decisions. Nevertheless, being mathematically illiterate herself, it caused the PM to panic and order a complete lockdown.

That lockdown 'works' by dramatically reducing the number of contacts between infected and uninfected people. But it also reduces the growth in immunity. As a result, we have a tiger by the tail — any attempt to come out of lockdown, especially because of the apparently large number of asymptomatic carriers, will drive contacts right back up again and we'll be back where we started. But every day we stay in lockdown has massive social, economic and mortality costs of its own (something most epidemiologists seem unable to comprehend) — a classic Catch-22.

Here's a simple illustration of the problem. The current NZ statistical value of a life is about $4.5 million. Divide that by life expectancy of 82 years to get a value of each year-life saved of about $55000.  So if the level 4 lockdown causes just a single one-off 10% drop in GDP (i.e., $33 billion) and  the typical person dying of covid-19 would otherwise have lived an extra 4 years (very optimistic), that means 'break-even' point requires the lockdown to save 150,000 lives that would otherwise have been lost due to covid-19. Not even the most frothing-at-the-mouth epidemiologist has been predicting that!

It's true that some intervention was probably needed to reduce the high risk from super-spreading activities. But level 2 would have achieved that, at far lower cost. Rather than asking "which businesses are essential?", the  question that should have been asked was "which businesses are too risky to stay open?" They should have been shut and everybody else allowed to carry on. Instead, we opted for a sledgehammer over a scalpel and most likely killed the patient.

Basil, the truth of the matter is that our leader is a control freak and is being followed like a cult!

You only need to listen to the way she speaks to us at 1.0pm as if she is speaking down to everyone.

Of course we had to close things up initially to slow things down, but it just blatantly ridiculous now that they have scared the living daylights out of everyone.

People cross the road when you are out walking as if you have the Black Death, where walking past someone is not going to give you any bloody virus.

We have had supermarkets open and as far as we know not a single person has contracted the virus from there!!

Random testing of the public and not a damn positive!!

FFS the sooner the sheep realise that you have had scammed and killed your livelihood the better.

There was absolutely no gain for anyone but this government for keeping NZ closed for another week, except it is just her way of showing her control of the NZ public!

Do you think she  makes these decisions on her own

Ranga, you must be the hardest person to understand ever!

What the hell are you on about?

The media has scared most, so much they think it is this virus that is going to kill them.

There have been 18 deaths. 16 were over 70 years of age and all had u dearly I g medical conditions.

The other 2 were in their 60’s and had medical issues.

10 were from the Rosewood home and most we reform the dimentia ward and were resuscitated by instruction which meant they were waiting for god!!!

The government has totally over estimated the virus and panicked and now have brought the country to its knees by their actions.

The effects of their actions are going to play out over the next few years.
