They have this bee in their bonnet about harness racing because their percentage yield on harness with the fixed odds was well down on gallops and the greyhounds! The idiots in power at the TAB brilliant idea was to stop harness punters from winning and rely on the losing punters to increase yield for them! The dickheads business plan is so flawed, instead of decreasing turnover they should be wanting to increase it!!!!!! Even at a lower yield, if their turnover was increased then their profit would be greater on a higher turnover! The NZ TAB has a monopoly with racing but the reality is that the intelligence of the ones making decisions is extremely low! The fact that they allowed a lemon of a system that more or less bankrupted them, clearly shows this! The NZ TAB will never prosper under the current regime of suits and they need a cleanout!!!!!! It is fair enough the TAB are wary of Dolan or Anderson etc horses with not much exposed form and keep their odds really tight. I get that but most horses ability can be seen at trials or the workouts so they should back themselves and set odds accordingly. Whether it is the bean counters or the actual people who set initial odds they need to back themselves with slightly enticing options for some runners who they don't think can win. If you have read the terms and conditions at the TAB, it basically says we can do what ever we want whenever we want and you cant do a thing about it cause you agree to the terms when you place a bet. By the sounds of it I am being treated ok compared to some of you guys, I cant believe they treat us as customers like ~Fly on the wall` compulsive gamblers. It would be great if every one boycotted the TAB for 2 weeks and sent them broke, sack everyone and get someone from Paddy power to show them how to work their software like a proper bookmakers, surely they could leverage their sports bets with them, they should leverage their harness bets against the TB and sports! They lost on the head to head so pulled the plug. I cant believe they treat us like shit, this is our (NZ) game , they should be ashamed to ruin an entire piece of classic kiwi, rugby racing and beer pastime. How can they reward themselves with insane salaries when the they are eliminating punters and destroying the owners and trainers livelihood, They work so hard so they dont have the luxury of time and means to go to the golf course to look them in the eye! I think those odds were wrong and not live anyway. Sometimes, for some unknown reason the TAB has stupid pricing up (but not live) and then the real odds come up completely differently.
