It went fantastic bearing in mind it galloped fo most of the home straight, after the start! Could someone enlighten us all what the current galloping/ breaking rule is for early breaking? It was hard to see exactly when it did actually trot but it appeared to gallop for at least 150 metres early on. Dougie Posted July 31, 2020 Share Posted July 31, 2020 Watching the replay he goes out of camera vision about 70m short of the winning post so not sure of the total distance he galloped but without knowing the actual rule you'd think any sustained loss of gait at any stage in any race of 100m or more would equate to a relegation/disqualification. There is a distance you are allowed to gallop for, used to be 150metres, and less than 50metres in the last 200metres! What I do know is that It did gallop for more than the 110metres that Nowornever says!! It galloped from the start until it went out Of view on Trackside so if if it wasnt 150 metres it was 149M!! The only way it didnt gallop for 150 metres is if they allowed the early stages to be classed as it being in a trot, even if it was very rough. If they didnt count that then it was 150metres!! Still galloping here (horse is just in shot, extreme left of photo) and leaders are essentially at winning post. At what mark did you think it went into a gallop? At what mark did you think it went into a gallop? I think that mark on the inside of the track is the 50metre mark. They are probably saying that it trotted early after the start even though it was pretty rough.
