Brodie
I am trying my hardest to believe that Minstrel Is at $1.70 fixed to win race 6 at Addington from the stand over 2600m! Yes it is off the front and got a start on some far better performed horses, but $1.70 seriously? Do I think it will win, can not see it and to have it at such ridiculous odds is a bit hard to fathom?

Ummmm not at all.

The second by far? Apparently someone put $2.5k on at $2 to win! Would be good to be able to get that amount on something, but personally think it is a very poor bet! I am due for egg on my face, but Minstrel is no value at that!!!!! Edited August 28, 2020 by Brodie
Happy Sunrise
$2500 at 2s for Minstrel. Did the bookie just say Franco Niven had come in on bets of 100, 75, 50 and 10!! Are you frikking kidding me! The TAB are mentioning 10 dollar bets now on horses. Fark me. Unbelievable. A new level alright.

I can't get 25 on at times yet they are mentioning 10 dollar bets. No wonder turnover is down. That Duffy Hollow earlier went from 71ff to 26. Probably on the back of 10 each way.

Brodie
Winning bet by a small nostril! Brave punter but had positions in the running been reversed and you would not have been collecting. Think I wouldve trailed Minstrel if I was driving the runnerup, and it wouldve won! Well done, I think? Edited August 28, 2020 by Brodie

Matt Peden, Boomaker spokesperson for the Bookies in Wellington, how about. being a Bookmaker and let all the punters in NZ get their wagers on! I thought a Bookmaker was supposed to put up odds and then punters take them? You let some punters on for thousands and yet others get a pittance on!! Matt, Is this the way the NZ TAB are going to continue to operate?? NZ TAB arent interested in that, they pick and choose who that let wager with them! Counter Punch
Go easy on Matt, he's a good guy - stuck to the premises of a failing operation and pushed into being a front man. I'm sure you've all been asked to do something by the powers that be which you'd rather not. The work he did in Australia before coming over was excellent, some great initiatives and bet options.

I don't think we are addressing Matt's individual performance but since he is the front of the TAB now all questions will be directed towards him. That is not particular fair as it is kind of like working for FOX News and sticking to a script from higher above but what other options do punters have as the transparency of the TAB is rubbish (just like HRNZ) CP, what do you think of announcing 10 dollar bets on Trackside as an example of support for a horse? I think if one stops for a moment and thinks about that I find it quite worrying. And we still have the age old question of how someone can get $2500 on a horse and some can't get a dime on.

CP, not attacking Matt Peden at all, I am sure he is a great bloke. As everyone knows I am attacking the policy of the NZ TAB treating some punters totally unfairly. What they do with it is their business, however I can guarantee that it is having a huge detrimental effect on turnover and therefore stakes distribution to harness. The TAB need punters so it is up to them.

What is the protests about Ranga? It is about people up and arms about how they are being treated and think they are being treated unfairly! The NZ TAB is treating many punters unfairly by allowing certain people to wager what they want and others can not do this! They put up the fixed odds and invite you to have a gamble! Some people are allowed to gamble what they want and many others are not being allowed To. If they want to limit an amount anyone can win per bet or race, then tell everyone and limit everyone!! If they dont want to be Bookies then change your name to something else more appropriate, as they are not Bookies at all. It is not right to treat people differently and favouring some over others

Reality is that Minstrel doesnt win if Wild Irish hadve dropped in behind minstrel rather than Leading. Point is that Minstrel was shockingly unders at $
