Happy Sunrise Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 There is an awful lot of it going on at the moment. It never seemed to happen much but there have been a few glaring examples near the finish line recently, plus a few after the start involving the odd favourite or two. Despite the understandable challenges of race day driving I think it is about time the RIU starting penalising the driver at fault as it is a very poor look and will turn punters off very quickly. LOL how do you determine which driver is at fault? Quote

I think most of the punters have been turned off already. Quote

What if one driver went for a gap where there was room for his horse but not his sulky? If you read my first post you will see I acknowledged the understandable challenges of race day driving. If one driver went for a gap where there was room for his horse but not his sulky then isn't that careless driving. Anyway, you tell me, how come locked wheels has become a thing recently when it barely happened before and no driver is ever at fault if horses lock wheels? 1 Quote

No because the driver may think the horse on the outside may be going the same speed or faster. Instead it stops. 25 minutes ago, Happy Sunrise said: Anyway, you tell me, how come locked wheels has become a thing recently when it barely happened before and no driver is ever at fault if horses lock wheels? Lack of practice? Better TV coverage or a new excuse? Quote
Brodie Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 To be fair, we dont have too many occurrances on the whole. To my mind I would have thought that it would happen more than it actually does when you consider the closeness they actually race and speed etc. Of course it is not a lot of fun when the horse you backed, locks wheels! Just one of those things that we have to put up with I suppose in harness, just like incompetent officials! Quote
