How do they get on with Victorian horses and riders, they can't compete,am I correct.

Horse's can.  There have been various levels of interstate restrictions for jockey's and trainers.  Currently if a Victorian Jockey wishes to ride in NSW they need to undergo 14 days self-isolation.  More details at the link below:

https://mdata.racingnsw.com.au/FreeFields/latest_news_full.aspx?ArticleId=61375#link3

Going the other way NSW to Victoria - 5 days isolation and a negative test.

This race is a total wank, same field would run for 1 or 2 mil, the rest of the dosh should be spread across the state, grass roots, they've lost the plot these people, my dicks bigger than yours syndrome, it has to stop, you want to be special? different? do something like, grand slam, winner of 3, 5* sprints, 1000, 1200, 1400 final, win all 3, crowned grand slam champ, 5 mil bonus........but not this stupid, foolish, childish divvy up of industry funds thrown like a lolly scramble in one go.....I'm going to burst a vein......

This coved is gunna change a lot of things.in racing and in sport, football in the U.K. Is only going continue in its present mould if the rich help the less than rich,it's gunna mean the reset button is gunna mean major changes, but some things have in reality been getting out of hand anyway.

Not ideal for Nature Strip having Eduardo drawn outside him , Classique Legend and Gytrash have draws to get the right run , Waller's late inclusion and Behemoth have got the perfect draws to have a say in the finish . Libertini up against from the outside , Bivouac and Tofane drawing wide not such a barrier as both run back . The sneaky with a nice draw for a quiet sit is Trekking , is a proven performer .

I'll stick with Gytrash .

What Industry funds?  Isn't t self-funded?  i.e. a Sweepstake race?

Yeah it is, there is a buy in, but it doesn't cover the total costs, plus, and it's a dutch auction, it appeals to some, the novelty factor, and it's bragging rights, the worlds richest sprint on grass.......I'd rather see the attention and adulation put toward our classics, have a look at the farce at Caulfield today? there's another woeful exhibition, 3 horses going around for K400, so why not put the saved dosh toward a NON TAB meeting up at Wangaratta, or across at Colac or Penshurst or somewhere......encourage the grass roots people to stay in the game.........

The yearly slot fee and associated events pay for the total stakes.

I don't see where the dutch auction comes into it.  Slot holders can trade their slots in the lead up to the race.

What "saved dosh"?  If The Everest funds itself then if you don't have it you aren't "saving" anything!

It was a 700K buy in, then the trading begins

$1.8m actually for the first 3 years with a right to renew.

Some slot holders don't trade - they have their own horses.  Regardless in terms of the best sprinters in Australia this years field certainly is a good gathering of the best available in Australia.

it's not a race for everyone, it's elitist

So what is your point?  Has it reduced the opportunities elsewhere in the industry for the non-elite?  No.

You would argue that it is no less elite than the Karaka Millions but they are NOT entirely self-funded.  They are subsidised.

From a marketing perspective it is HUGE for racing.  It is generating lots of interest and is entirely self-funding.  That's a win win is it not?
